What are you reading?
I just got back from the local library in my little hick town and I was rather surprised by their selections. So here's how it goes:
I just finished reading: American Gods by Neil Gaiman (second time)
I'm currently reading: Divine Misdemeanors by Laurell K. Hamilton
So watcha reading?

Re: What are you reading?
I started reading "Rise of the Horde", then I got off the boat and could use the internet again... I will probably read it eventually though, it seems a fairly short book.
Most recently I read "Warhammer 40.000: Faith & Fire" because I absolutely love lesbian nuns in power armour.

I don't normally read tie-in novels to video games (Like the Halo books for example) but I've recently become completley infatuated with Mass Effect, so obvious question, are the ME books any good?

I'm trying to start on some John Le Carre book, but the first chapters have been mindnumbing >.<

Haven't gotten far enough to make up my mind. I know they're written by the same guy that writes the ME games so I'm giving it a shot.

Re: What are you reading?
Currently reading
A Cruel Wind - A Chronicle of the Dread Empire
It's a trilogy of three books: A Shadow of All Night Falling, October's Baby and All Darkness Met.
Never read Glen Cook's books before, just picked this randomly from a book store (It has great picture on the cover) First book was allright but on the second book I am like "AMAGAD THIS IS AWSUM"
Also been reading Complete Chronicles of Conan - By Robert E. Howard
While the Conan stories themselves repeat each other alot, I really love Howard's writing style.

Last book I read was 1984 by George Orwell.
...A year ago or so. I like reading, but somehow generally can only find the time for it when I'm on vacation.

If you liked that book of Hamilton you should look at her Anita Blake series, the three first are a bit slow but it gets better

I think I managed to book 14 or something, then I eventually got bored and gave up.
Not that the series itself is bad or anything but the overall story progresses so slooow.

I've read Hamilton's Merry Gentry series and I actually did start the first Anita Blake book but, as you said, it was really slow so I set it aside.

About Glen Cook, haven't read the Dead Empire books. But if you enjoy them pick up atleast the first Chromicle of the Black Company.Dharum wrote:Never read Glen Cook's books before, just picked this randomly from a book store (It has great picture on the cover) First book was allright but on the second book I am like "AMAGAD THIS IS AWSUM"
Awesome gritty high fantasy.
Unless you read them in a language not english there is only 12 published books in the main series.Dharum wrote:Guldujenu wrote:At the moment i'm reading: Wheel of time - Lord of Chaos. (Book six)

Now reading: Lords of the Bow by Conn Iggulden, his second book about Genghis Khan
Just Finnished Misspent Youth by Peter F. Hamilton, the "introduction" one might say to his commonwealth saga.
Next Read: The Dragon Keeper by Robin Hobb
Aside from that, several titles I await this year. The conclution to Peter F. Hamiltons Void trilogy. Book 12 of The Malazan Book of the Fallen, that sadly will be a month or two late. Erikson got sick so his usual clockwork writing is abit off.
Will pick up Wheel of Time book 13, Sanderson gave me a pleasant surprise after christmas when he managed to write Jordan better than the man himself had done for years before his death. Also he actually seem's to write!
And, if we're really, really lucky. Dance of Dragons, in other words, book five of A Song of Ice and Fire might be released this year. Sure, I very much doubt it but I wouldn't mind it.

Re: What are you reading?
Actually, I'd recommend The Hobbit before that. Helps expand the Tolkien universe knowledge a bit more, before the sheer info splash that's Silmarillion.
Re: What are you reading?
The later tales about Sauron are badass in Silmarillion' sucky Numenoreans ;P
