He still uses IE!Geneviève wrote:Just gave into my laptops demands that I update Internet Explorer. When they said updates, what they meant is upgrade to IE 9. After wondering why it was taking so darn long to apply a few updates, shadow sparring with some matrix agents in the mirrer, and restarting my PC I learn how foolish I was. I spend the next ten minutes trying to work out how to downgrade before deciding I can't be bothered. Spent another five minutes getting used to it and now I appreciate it. Bloody hell it's fast...

Certainly does. And that Germaine Greer episode is a classic.

And as for the list, I just love what it says about different cultures and the things they find insulting. Besides which, uh, the examples show rather remarkable creativity!

Ya I hadn't heard of the Arabic ones either. They didn't even make sense to me even, but the article thing was still hilarious :p

I would say that would be entirely from how much support the sole and back can give. But doubt it's anything to use for someone unused to high heels.

Translation of what I could understand that was said in hebrew:
First scene:
Palestinian: "Let her be!"
IDF: "Arrest her."
While pulling her up: "Get up!"
Again: "Let her go!"
Palestinian: "WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!"
Someone (voice of a women): "Cos emek" --- translation-... a curse, leave it at there.
IDF to the women that is being arrested: "Come on, get inside.."
Second scene:
Firing smoke bombs or tear gus. I beleive the IDF is yelling some orders, plus telling the plaestinians to depart in hebrew.
Third scene:
Palestinian: "Don't hit her!" (First in hebrew then I think in English)
Pushing the Doctor, he indentifies in arabic, letting him treat the guy that.. something was done to him. Pushing the others aside, "Go away/Go up" so on.
When he pushes the guy with the camera:
IDF: "Go up I said!"
Palestinian:"I am a reporter"
so on so on

I wont comment, theres nothing in the video that proves whos on the good side and bad, the people there could have taunted the soldiers to act and so forth, dunno so.

Re: Tzeentch's Thread of Everchanging Topics
I heard a lot of "sharmoota" this and "sharmoota" that too ... I think when the paramedic was being pushed around he said something like "I'm helping her" basically and I think when the guy was in that ditch and he got back up again he was like "Why did you hit me?!!" or something. I'm not too sure though, Palestinian Arabic is a little bit hard to understand.
Regardless though, actions speak louder than words

Iirc the Palestinians were protesting about the illegal Israeli settlements around Nabi Saleh and then they got shot at with rubber bullets and got tear gas shot at them. That is only one incident though, there have been a million others where Israeli soldiers fire rubber bullets, tear gas, and even kill protestors. They even open fire and shoot tear gas at reporters and journalists
You can form your own opinion on who's on the "good side" and who's on the "bad side" but that's not important. What's important is that there are people who are suffering and it should be stopped

Going forward and taunting? They weren't taunting, they were trying to help them ... If your daughter / sister / mother was being dragged away by their hair, I am sure you would not stand there and smile and say, "Have a nice day, thank you!" to the Israeli soldiers.
And sorry, but if you think firing tear gas and shooting bullets is the best way to respond to "taunts" then I must say I disagree completely ...

Never said its the best way, im not agreeing to either side here, i dont agree with the bloody countries at all in general, either side here can still be at fault and either side could make things way worse, trying to help can be seen as a taunt against them, but dragging people away by the hair is way wrong, if it was done calmly, it probably wouldnt have been like that.

I personally believe that there is a difference between civilian protesters acting one way and the Israeli army acting another... Hopefully you'll be able to distinguish between the two too.

Re: Tzeentch's Thread of Everchanging Topics
The simple fact, in my opinion is, that when you start of with defining a religion as a race and a nation, then screaming antisemisitism when someone else does it, and building a country upon this paradox.. it can't end well. And it didn't end well.
The Israeli soldiers are either:
I. Young people who well.. can't handle the situation, so they act as they do. Usaully they go to other units then this one though.
II. Those that were brainwashed that Arab are muslims muslims are arabs and they won't to kill us all and we are zionist and free and everyone else hates us and blah blah blah...
Surprisinly, more Arabic jews belong to the second group. I would've thought it would've been otherwise... but nah. Let it go, no one dares to challenge the idea behind the Zionism, that is unnaceptable at all. But it's still more a democracy then Syria or some other countries in the region, one may argue.

I don't really care if Arab Jews support them or if Israel is more democratic than other Arab nations or whatever. My opinion about Israel is my own, but the tactics employed by the Israeli army are disgusting and illegal.

Conscript soldiers. Says it all really. I'll confess I've seen Brits act like.
During their first 'baptism of fire' riot training. It seems so real people completely lose the plot. I can only hope that the way they handle it once the training's complete is the way they handle it on operations. :S
