[A] The Greymane Resolve
We have struggled for food and water.
We have struggled for land and freedom.
We have struggled for survival and truth.
Did we falter? Did we surrender?
No, we fight! And you cannot break our resolve!
Who are we?
ICly We are free men and women who fight for their home, we are the ones who will not give up, who will not abandon their lands. We are farmers, woodcutters, masons, smiths, veterans, noblemen who all strive to see their destroyed home rebuilt. We contribute in what way we can, we welcome any and all refugees who wish to take shelter amongst what we have managed to salvage. Wether you fight, build, entertain or heal, you have a place here. -You- are welcomed back home.
OOCly We are a core of people who wish to involve the worgen roleplaying community and build on solid ground. We're going to be aiming to create a pleasant and vibrant community within Gilneas in any and all aspect of things. We're all ambitious with our plans and we don't intend to be sitting still at the first bump on the road.
We're not a militaristic-based guild, which opens the door for any kind of worgen/gilnean roleplayer and through this, we hope to be able to create social events such as the already well-known Mastiff aswell as rebuilding and battle as is due. Expect to be contacted should you be interested, the wall is broken, Gilneas is open, and we intend to make full use of it.
What can you expect?
You can expect social events, invitationals, supply run, roll events and the odd Wpvp. We will mostly keep our RP based on solidifying grounds with the Alliance and rebuild the home that was so roughly destroyed.
Alliance: Gilneas is a part of the Alliance now. We will need your help. Our numbers are few, but our promise solid. We will ask for aid to those who wish to listen and we will offer aid to those who might request it.
Social events & invitationals: Cursed, yes, but it does not take away our humanity. The Mangy Mastiff is open for anyone who wishes to join and much more will be seen. The Gilnean Cathedral stands proud, regardless of it's endless battle and will welcome any who wish for prayer to the Light. The Blackwald can be found for those seeking spiritual guidance. Tal'Doren, the place where the Scythe began!
Supply runs, roll events & Wpvp: Whilst we will not mainly focus on Wpvp, we will have a healthy amount of battle for those who wish to set their muscle into action. Our main trajectory will involve sabotage, hit and run and ambushes on the forces occupying the towns outside the gates. We wish to please all kinds of RPers, thus we will attempt to organize immersive Pvp aswell as roll events where your fantasy can take a free roll.
The Resistance
What is the Resistance? Well basically, as stated above, we are the people, citizens of all kinds who wish to see their home rebuilt, there is no chain of command. We are inspired by those who pick up their tools, wether it is sword, quill, scalpel or hammer.
We also highly value people making their own personal plots, involving people from the community in such.
Our goal is to make the community grow as a whole, and that goal may not seem easy, it does not scare us off.
The People
Niara: Niara is a young and fiesty Worgen, brought up as an outcast of society along with her witch mother. They were both among the first to be infected by the Curse, surviving even until the arrival of the Elves. As Niara's mind was soothed she soon learned of the fate of her mother, dead at the hands of the Forsaken. Vengeful and broken she took part in a few battles before being evacuated early for what was her kind. She fell into sorrow and grief, mourning the loss of her mother ever since.
Though the Curse had wrecked her homeland, she was still grateful and proud to bear it, seeing it as a sign and the only reason she made it out alive. She struggled a long time to find acceptance, first in Darnassus and later in Stormwind. The best refuge she could find was among the underground criminal society of Stormwind, forced into dangerous tasks just to stay alive. After a lot of struggling with her past she has tried to cast it aside, abandoning her family name and embracing her new fate.
Niara now lives in the wilds of Gilneas once more, spending almost all of her time roaming the forests in the company of Merralan, her mentor and more. She is reclusive and suspicious of strangers, though can also be very compassionate and sympathetic to those in trouble or need. She fully embraces the Curse, seeing it as a gift and not afraid to follow on what some would call the darker sides of it.
Merralan: Native to Gilneas, Merralan was brought up by her mother in the wilds of the Headlands, learning the secretive arts of witchcraft. She has walked nearly thirty cycles, observing the "civilized" world of men revolve around her, yet never once did she participate in it. The coming threat of the Forsaken however has, much to her dismay, made her realize that sitting idle will only work to see her
beloved homelands, for which her sole concern is, destroyed and tainted by the foul Undead. She has thus sought allies, though keeps them at a distance as much as possible. Though one has gained her trust and affection; Niara. This young, vengeful soul, proved promising to Merralan, and thus she took her under her paws to teach her the path of nature. Merralan is a seclusive, reserved being, only
emerging from the wilds to provide council or insight to her allies. Should one dare venture into her homelands to seek her out, they will find nothing but her scent and warning whispers carried with the wind to leave her in peace.
Geoffray: Although born and raised on a farm, little of this heritage shows in Geoffray. Clothed in tailored suits and a fine crafted cane always within reach, he chose a life of trade and business in the city. Initially suppressing, and even despising his Worgen form, recent events have changed his attitude, becoming accepting and even fond of his new abilities.
Nowadays, he runs the Mangy Mastiff inn in Keel Harbour, his gentle manners and spirit providing a smile and a warm greeting for every visitor to both his inn and Gilneas in general.
Manar: Manar has been raised in the woods, by his father and mother who were groundskeepers, who looked after the wild and plantlife of the northren forest.
Later in his life he found he had a gift for nature magic and he embraced it, although his parents said he should be careful with such a gift and not to rely on it.
These days he spends his time helping others out with all kinds of tasks, healing, rebuilding or even fighting.
Marylinn: With a tragic past she left Arathi for Stormwind, seeking a new start, young Marylinn soon found herself on the streets, trying to gain coin with any means. She became known as Marylinn the Harlot but was shortly regarded as a lady, for she was fair… and pricy. Marylinn sold information of nobles and men of the cloth, who’d bought her services, to various thugs and gangs around the vile slums of the city. One day, she met a man that showed her pure interest and she began to fall for him, if even slightly, it was a pure feeling. This man was from Gilneas, where he took her to see the grand opening of the Mangy Mastiff Inn. The trip had a dreadful ending however. She was bitten and cursed. She was saved by another man, for no alchemist was near, he soothed the curse from taking full grasp of her by plunging into her mind, body and soul. Alas, they shared eachothers memories and feelings by doing so… she became obsessed to know more of this „Locke“ and after much drabble, they could finally be together, perhaps it was fate? Now they live together, day out and day in, their love is stronger than any bond, for no one knows him as her, and her as him.
Deceased (Contact on Nathanìel)- Locke: The youngest son of a hard working farmers family. The Yolun farmstead, situated in the Northern Headlands, was employed by a powerful Lord, alas with power came abuse. The boy's family fell victim to greed and hunger, causing his life to take a sharp turn at the death of his mother when he was just a child. Being taught nothing else then hard work and fighting from his father, the young boy learned how to be an adult rather quickly. Being one of the first to be hit by the curse, he has lost track of his father and elder brother. Living with the thought of their death, the boy has grown into a strong young man, wielding the curse as a blessing as he trains to hone his new abilities to their limits. Having grown an interest with his new instincts, he grew close to nature, working hard to learn of it's tales and secrets. His curiosity has led him to multiple odd encounters and into danger on numerous occasions, but it hasn't made him back down. This impulsive man strives to rebuild their home and send the walking corpses back underground whilst keeping those who are dear to him away from harm.
The above names are officers you are able to contact for information/events or even joining us. The stories attached accentuates that we do not claim the city. We are the people, and the people are those who fight.
Thank you for reading and keep a lookout!
The Greymane Resolve
Adding some clarifications regarding certain classes and their link to the Gilnean society, how to enact it. Good way to perhaps draw inspiration for your characters.
- Spoiler:
- To ALL Worgen Druids !
It has come to our attention that many a Worgen Druid doesn't really understand where they originate from. Let us therefore clarify !
There are three possible origin stories from which a Worgen Druid could have sprung into existance from:
Harvest Druid
The Harvest druids were apparently around in Gilneas, presumably, since the rise of the nation. Practicing the restorative side of druidism and having no accounts of being able to shift into animals at all. They -do- however communicate via the Spirits and thus have a connection with the Emerald Dream from which -all- druids channel their powers.
This means your worgen were born a Gilnean, most likely in the remote edges of society alone with whoever was teaching you, be it a mother or father of the same profession as such arts would likely only have been taught within certain circles.
The only real evidence to their powers is a sentence from Celestine the Harvest Witch which explains how her kind saved the crops at one point. Probably making them focus mostly on the healing side of druidism, which is an essential part really of -all- druids.
Important: You're a rookie when it comes to shapeshifting. To master the arts to a comfortable level of safety and control would take many years, possibly so long until the next expansion arrives. Your healing is excellent however, perhaps just below any night elf's.
Taught by the Kal'dorei
This kind of Worgen may or may not have been a Harvest Witch already before undergoing training from the Kal'dorei druids who would know considerably more about druidism than any race, with the exception of the Shu'halo. Though their affinity with druidism could also be explained by the very nature of the Worgen. Worgen were once members of the Druids of the Pack who's feral form was the Worgen.
Their innate ability to transform would then be very close and they would easily learn how to shapeshift into other forms aswell. The Kal'dorei mostly teaches the new generations of druids to be Druids of the Wild, covering all aspects of druidism though never specializing in any of them. Meaning you have lots of potential but none of it is truly powerful.
Though it is imperative to note that shapeshifting is by no means easy nor does it come without risk. Imagine your whole perception of the world around you change dramatically as you are locked in a shape that moves on all four, your sense of smell sharpening and so perhaps also you eyesight. Though maybe even your eyesight switches to black/white colour or lacks a colour tap so the sense of colouration on your surroundings changes dramatically aswell. You'd have to learn how to even move in this new form correctly, and that would take many years get to function properly.
All of while you are constantly battling your primal urge which Worgen are already prone to succumb to, meaning its extremely dangerous if you're inexperienced, as you could become an animal completely (Not reversible).
Important: You're a rookie when it comes to shapeshifting. To master the arts to a comfortable level of safety and control would take many years, possibly so long until the next expansion arrives.
Druid of the Pack
Perhaps the most controversial and mary sue-ish of solutions. You were basically one of the Druids of the Pack that once, long ago delved into the raging worgen form of the savage wolf spirit Goldrinn. A form that drove you crazy until Ralaar Fangfire rounded you up along with the rest of the pack and taught you how to control yourself atleast to a degree where you retained your sanity.
You were banished into a pocket of the Emerald Dream by Malfurion Stormrage because of your savage and uncontrollable nature and slept for countless ages, possibly for 10000 years from pre-Sundering. You were then awakened in Blackwald under the great tree, Tal'doren by a possibly numerous amount of insidious persons of which there's little account.
Though during all this time in the Emerald Dream you had once more become feral, succumbed to the taint of the Worgen form and you would then spread the curse to the Gilneans and from there, the events of the starting area of the Worgen transpires.
This means you were once Night Elf. Though due to the nature of the curse you can no longer transform back, you are stuck in Worgen form 'forever' and you are immortal to aging and diseases. You are a natural shapeshifter, and you can with guidance from other druids learn to morph into other animals, though you would be on the same level as a Gilnean.
Though you natural exposure to the Emerald Dream has increased your druidic magic potential and possibly enabling you to both heal and cast more battle-oriented druidic spells.

If anyone is able to challenge these claims, be my guest so that we may work to find the truth behind things. However in doing so, please provide plausible explanations accompanied by evidence of Lore to back up these claims. Else your reply will be disregarded.
- Spoiler:
- To all Worgen Death Knights and aspiring Gilnean Paladins.
We've recieved an increasing number of applicants of the type Worgen Death Knight, aswell as a few hopeful people wishing to RP Gilnean Paladins. Now normally we're pleased to see the interest, but there are a few problems lore-wise with either which grants reasonable doubt to emit these two types into the Greymane Resolve, which is why we're turning most of them all down, at the moment.
First off, the easy one:
Worgen Death Knights.
The lore explanation from Blizzard is at best controversial and it has limited information regarding the creation of such. To sum it up, it explains that Worgen Death Knights have no other possible outcome to function in the universe and obey the laws of the lore, than to have been captured Worgen of the mad mage Arugal who first summoned the worgen to fight the scourge during the third war.
However these worgen were all feral, and have never been exposed to the only resemblance of a cure to this savage state that was introduced by the Royal Alchemist Krennan Aranas.
Arugal was a mage of the Kirin Tor who fled to Shadowfang Keep after Dalaran was destroyed, where he discovered the Book of Ur that explained the presence of the Worgen. He then summoned them but they were far too savage to control. Some of these worgen made their way into Gilneas where they began infecting the populace. The rest were captured and tortured by Arugal. Your death knight is then one of these captured, traumatized, tortured and most importantly -feral- worgen.
This, your, worgen then somehow escaped Shadowfang Keep and got killed by the Scourge and raised as a Death Knight.
That's all well and dandy, but a Worgen Death Knight is a feral, mindless killing machine that has no interest in turning human. It was once controlled by the Lich King as all the other Death Knights. A fact that gave it purpose and the ability to think thoughts. But now he is gone, it returns to being a mindless brute, much like any other Undead out there at present date WoW.
It is -highly- improbable that Arugal managed to find a cure similar to what the Royal Alchemist, Krennan Aranas did, since he is the only figure mentioned in lore to have discovered such and there is -no- evidence that Arugal was a skilled alchemist.
Even -if- somehow your character has a decent backstory to support all of this without being a brute and whatnot, it is still leaning towards being a snowflake, and it would be subject to much harassment and perhaps even subject to manhunts from the Resolve. It -is- Undead, it is no better in the eyes of the average Gilnean, than the Forsaken trying to invade and most would surely try to slay it on sight.
Therefore, we do NOT accept Worgen Death Knights.
Gilnean Paladin
Now... Gilneas had little to nothing to do with any other human nation during the First War and they only joined in the effort during the very late stages of the Second War. Later they pulled their forces back once the orcs were defeated and sent to interment camps. This ocurred in year 8 of the Warcraft Calendar.
The Order of the Silver Hand, the only institution capable of creating paladins of the Holy Light, were formed sometime after the First War when the Northshire Abbey was destroyed and Alonsus Faul fled to Lordaeron. This institution is created in Lordaeron and there is no evidence to suggest that a Silver Hand camp/church/training facility is located in Gilneas.
This means that any Gilnean who is a Paladin left Gilneas before the Second War, and went to Lordaeron, to train as a Paladin. After the Second War, the Gilnean Gate closes and Gilneas cuts off all communication with the outside world.
A grand total of 31 years pass until World of Warcraft: Cataclysm hits (Year 39 in the Warcraft Calendar) and the gate is shattered by the cataclysmic events (Or is it a Horde Gunship crashing into it? We will never know).
There is as far as I am concerned, no lore, regarding Paladin training or at which age boys and girls begin training. But one would assume that -any- Gilnean who leaves their homeland before the Second War, and is therefore eligible for Paladin training, is a Gilnean of particular unbiased opinion of the other human nations. He/she is somewhat of a pioneer, a curious soul and whatelse to willingly brave the world in search of adventure or whatnot. One would assume that such a person is fairly old, perhaps 16 when he/she sets out.
By the time this young human would return to Gilneas he/she would be no less than 47 years old, since the gate would prevent them from returning sooner.
As such, there are certain requirements in order to RP a Gilnean Paladin. First, his/her backstory must be compatible with before-mentioned facts (Facts that are easily found by browsing Google and typing in search words).
Second he/she must be atleast 47 years of age (Or younger provided he/she was a child and their parents were the pioneering ones, who then sent their child off to become a Paladin).
Thirdly, for aesthetic purposes, he/she should know the lore behind a Paladin and act accordingly. Following these links is a good place to start, and furthermore your character will be closely watched to determine that your actions are true to the ideals of the Holy Light and the Three Virtues:

http://wow.joystiq.com/2010/11/07/know-your-lore-the-origin-of-goblin-and-worgen-death-knights/
http://www.wowwiki.com/Timeline_%28unofficial%29
I understand that the timeline used is unofficial but it is a recording of known events put into a single linear timeline to determine when and what happened in the universe and is therefore more or less plausible to believe, along with all other information given by Blizzard (They -do- enjoy lore-raping and retconning).
If anyone is able to challenge these claims, be my guest so that we may work to find the truth behind things. However in doing so, please provide plausible explanations accompanied by evidence of Lore to back up these claims. Else your reply will be disregarded.
Credits to Merralan for making the time to find and compose these very accurate guides.

Ahem, excuse my lack of decorum. What I meant was that I'm really pleased to see this initiative in worgen RP, and that I hope to find an excuse to skulk one of my characters up to Gilneas soon.
On no account will I be seeking fluffy hugs while I'm there.
