The Jewel of Dalaran (future tavern/weekly event)

So Geldar and I have a little project that we've been plotting and planning for a few months now, but before we get it off the ground IC, I'd like to introduce the idea to you all.

Since the Red Eclipse sadly had to close its doors a while ago, and with the newfound availability of Dalaran for RP, I'm intending for Valerias to open up a new establishment of luxury, relaxation, and socialisation. It will be a weekly 'tavern' evening, as the Eclipse was, and the focus will remain on conversation, exotic pleasures, and beautiful women. However, as the location is Dalaran, there will be a definite upper class atmosphere (at least on the surface – shady characters and underhanded dealings may, in fact, abound beneath the veneer of respectability). It's definitely not the Blade, and I'm not wishing for soldiers in armour or thugs in ragged leather getting their muddy boots all over my expensive Tanarisi carpets!

Imagine Greek hetairae or Japanese courtesans (or, if you enjoy Firefly, imagine Inara Serra and the elaborate world of the Companions). This establishment will be dripping with costly decorations, imported delicacies, and a perpetual haze of smoke and incense. There will be music and conversation and company. It's the type of place that a Dalaran mage might visit to unwind after a day of incantations, that a Stormwind noble might peruse in search of some new luxury, that a city criminal with the means to do so might escape to in order to enjoy his ill gotten gains, or that a dealer in 'rare substances' might visit in hopes of picking up a contact or two.

In creating such a weekly 'event,' I'd like to provide a place for casual RP to have a chance to grow and thrive, as RP taverns have always done. However, the focus will be on a slow pace – on conversation, creativity, and an atmosphere in which people can use their imaginations. I don't use GHI, and prefer to provide a spontaneous menu, taking time to write descriptive emotes to set the mood. Also, it's Dalaran - the flavour will be very much related to the elegance of that city.

I would, however, like some help if possible! Vale will be running the place (which is as yet unnamed, though I have ideas), but from experience, handling an evening alone can be stressful at times. If anyone has a female character who tends toward the sultry, the refined, and talented in music, art, conversation – let's talk. A few other ladies of quality would make the project that much better. (A suave 'gentleman' or two to keep an eye on things would not go amiss either – let me know if you have one of those.)

Also, if you have thoughts / questions / suggestions, please let me know, as the idea is certainly to provide some interesting RP for the community. Cheers, folks.

Well this certainly puts a dent in my plan to shoot Dalaran out of the sky once I capture the Bilgewater cannon.. Anyone know a good use for a 6000mm artillery piece?

Mass magocide aside, I might have one, two or three characters suited for entertainers at the establishment, depending just how exotic you want to get.

About time something like this happened. Heck it wouldn't be unreasonable to perhaps host more events now that Dalaran has become more desolate, it would be a nice change of fresh air. If even for a little while.

I have a question!

What days do you have in mind for this? I'd really like to visit it or maybe even help out, but my weekly schedule is looking more and more busy. So just curious really.

Thursday evenings for now. We are toying with the idea to get some Horde bartenders/waitresses to serve them from the opposing faction, but that is still just an idea.

PS: Those interested regarding work in the new establishment should poke Annie or me via PM's here, letters ingame or a chat ingame to be given the full details of what is going to happen/expected.

No, not tonight. Tonight will be pushing it, there will be information posted here or in the event/IC section when its finally sorted and ready to go. One or two weeks tops!

So, we're looking at opening at 20:00 on Thursdays (though that's subject to change).

One thing I forgot to mention in the initial post was that, like the Red Eclipse, the focus will be on Tanarisi-style entertainment. The IC reason being that it's what Vale is trained in, and the OOC reason being that I enjoy the Tanarisi lore and culture that Sophyra, etc, have put together. Sultry and exotic = awesome. (Check out the Tanarisi Immigrant Foundation for info.)

So, if you're interested in being a part of these evenings and happen to have a character from, or with some knowledge of, Tanaris, all the better!

If not, of course I'd still be interested in talking to you - still looking for a few folk to help out. Ideally we'd like to keep it to humans as entertainers (with the exception of a belf), but if you have a great reason why your character would be perfect regardless of race, let me know.

We're planning to begin this Thursday - shall make a proper post about it when we work out the details.

At the moment, we have a bartender, a hostess, and a hot belf waitress. If anyone else is interested in taking part in the staffing, just give Geldar or me a nudge - we'd be delighted.

Sounds excellent, it's such a pity people don't use Dalaran more for RP, being as interesting a setting as it is.
