Re: The "other game thread"
I bought Fable II yesterday, played for an hour and got bored. Back to replaying RDR. Or levelling a priest in WoW. Can't decide D:
Been thinking about replaying Jak & Daxter too, because I adore those games. Not the fourth mind you, that was shit. But one to three was amazing.
Could replay GTA: San Andreas too because I loved that game...
Or any of my Final Fantasy games...
Or Vagrant Story. I never completed that.
... I've too many games.

Re: The "other game thread"
Just coming back on the Bioware DLCs now they're out;
As for other games, just gonna mention this because I saw it pop on Totalhalibut's channel.
If you're into the darker form of fantasy, this might be something for you. The Witcher 1 has been out for some 3 years, and though graphically outdated as it may be, its worthwhile to pick up just because of the story (and the amazing soundtrack).
This is a must get if you've played the game. Seriously. Fairly challenging, a story that's on par with the other recruitement/loyalty missions and about just as long. Not to mention it may, or rather will, have a serious impact on ME3.Sanaje wrote:Mass Effect 2: Lair of the Shadowbreaker.
Garbage. Just read up what happens somewhere, its not worth the money. Real let-down.Dragon Age: Origins - Witch Hunt

I read The Last Wish and Blood of Elves. Don't believe they've translated any others yet; can't say I trust my German enough to try it in that version D:

This.
PS: It's crap that the English publisher isn't doing the books justice. They skipped the second short story collection (which is pretty much the base of the saga) and are taking three years to release the first novel. Seriously.
PPS: The publisher in my country will be releasing the last novel sometime this year, gotta love being in the Slavic language group. I had started The Last Wish in English, but it reads... so odd.

Re: The "other game thread"
My present obsession besides StarCraft II is League of Legends (LoL indeed).
It's basically an advanced DotA clone, but since I can't stand DotA (or the more DotA-like HoN) I was surprised at how much I enjoy this game. Maybe it just controls better, or maybe the persistent Summoner experience (that is, player exp) and massive selection of champions is what keeps it interesting, especially since new ones are added every month or so. The attention to detail, characterization and the fact it actually provides background lore is great - although some champions are not what you'd call balanced.
I play on the EU client as HellbirdIV, though that's a given.

Re: The "other game thread"
I'll refrain from talking down LoL since I haven't really played it, and don't really think I will unless if I get talked into it by a friend at some point. I play HoN generally an hour or more every day lately, though, so it goes without saying that I haven't heard much positive things about LoL...

Ugh. I hated HoN. I skipped the tutorial after about 10 seconds of that horrible narrator.
THESE ARE YOUR BARRACKS. THESE ARE ENEMY BARRACKS.
And then the game play was messy and didn't really feel immersive, and the interface left a lot to be desired. A lot of things weren't very clearly stated (particularly (enemy) character abilities, and items).
Playing Medieval II again. And I'm feeling a difference between simulated battles and ones I control. I tend to win mine harder than the simulator... And a lot more people die on each side.
600 men (me) attacking 400 on low, rocky hills. Heavy infantry and archers (me) versus light cavalry, archers, and light infantry (them).
Simulator: 128 casualties (me), 154 casualties (them)
Me controlling battle: 221 casualties (me), 376 casualties (them).
Clearly I need to work on just scaring the enemy in to submission more.

What how can you say that Yi is imba. That's like saying that Ashe is a good jungler. Yi is a good pubstomp.
Currently alternating between LoL, WoW, and Civ V. Screw you Aztecs stop taking Cologne that's my harbour city D:

I'm struggling for my life against the Persians, I went to war with them to ensure the continued survival of the city state of Dublin as I believed it, and Singapore, were paramount to keeping the Persians from invading me (they formed an awesome buffer and Dublin actually had a big military, not as big as the Persians' or mine but it was big)... Dublin still stands, its army having been reduced to a shadow of its former self, the troops I had sent to defend Dublin have pretty much been annihilated, what remains has retreated to my nearby city of Atlanta to prepare a desperate defense there.. Half my navy (1 ship ) got sunk near the Persian coast.. I'm trying to churn out reinforcements for the defense of Atlanta before the Persians get there in sizeable numbers though I think I will be too late.
All in all, I'm greatly enjoying my first serious attempt at Civ 5.. If only I had the money to purchase some troops quickly
