Re: The Song of Ice and Fire - George R.R. Martin
Wow what a season! I loved the finale.
Slowly started reading the books to fill the time between waiting for season 3 in April 2013.
- Spoiler:
- Daenerys did indeed redeem herself after sort of being stuck in a whiny my-life-sucks-position the entire season.
I must say the story feels very different from what I've seen/read so far in fantasy movies/novels. It's very dark and grim. Characters are so easily disposed of. 'Good' guys aren't winning. Heck it even feels like being a good guy in Westeros means you die. Also there's few characters I can't sympathize with. Even in the position of the Lannisters.

Loved the last episode, but I find myself yelling at the characters' terrible decisions half the time.
Theon: AMG GO TO THE WALL ALREADY
Sansa: Y U NO RUN OFF WITH HOUND?
Arya: GO GO BE A TINY NINJA
Also, crazy theory time, Jaqen is Syrio, after the fight in King's Landing he was jailed and changed his face, then was recuited to go to the Wall, explains his interest/recognition of Arya.

I thought he only changed faces and not voices?
- Nithel's Good-Bad Guys:
- Yeah, I'm starting to feel like good guys doesn't even exist, only a handful of the Starks seem to have good in them, but Arya is starting to slip away from that I fear, as might Sansa from what I've seen so far with the Hound being all "FUCK YOU, KILLING IS GOOD, YOU SHOULD LOVE IT LIKE I LOVE IT, YOUR FATHER LOVED KILLING WAAAH". You know? No one else in Westeros seems to be good, they're all somehow just morally.. fucked. D:
- My Speculations & Comments of Season Finale:
- The White-walkers were fucking awesome, albeit I wanted to laugh when I saw a piece of ice tied to a stick for a weapon.. But I guess being an ancient evil (undead?) makes up for your choice of weapon. And all the undead, like wtf. So many. And then all the Wildlings, whom I assume work with the White-walkers through the King Beyond the Wall. Holy craaaaawp.
My heart died when I saw Winterfell in ruins and flames. I do wonder, and fear. I seriously doubt those 20 fellahs did that. So.. did the Boltons really burn down all of Winterfell? 'Cause I was actually liking the Bolton that we see so often with Robb lately, I desired for him to be a trustful right hand damnit, but if he's turning on the Starks... ow ow.

Re: The Song of Ice and Fire - George R.R. Martin
- Spoiler:
- I was waaayyyy disappointed with the House of the Undying scene.
My friend asked if I was crying when he heard me go AWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW! when Shae and Tyrion hugged and he was crying. I love them.
Brienne was awesome as always. I'm beginning to like Jaime too. "I stole a pig." YOU'RE LANNISTER, THE KINGSLAYER. "Really? I wish I had known before I stole that pig."
Snorted water through my nose.
I loved Jaqen, I hope to see him again! \o/ Reading the books now, and I'm at the part where he changed faces and killed the guards with the soup. xD hhahaha.

Re: The Song of Ice and Fire - George R.R. Martin
To clarify some lore:
'White Walkers' are an ancient evil race that sleeps beneath the Ice, and they are NOT undead. They are also called 'The Others'. Mellisandre likes to say 'What gods? There is only the Lord of Light and the Great Other'
White Walkers have the ability to raise the dead, making them into 'Wights'. So what you saw there weren't the white walkers, but Wighs. White Walkers are seen in prelude to Season 1 episode 1.

- About was Mel said:
- I'd say that there was one white walker at the end. The very frozen guy on the dead horse.

There were actually White Walkers in that episode, too. But yeah, in the series both "the Wights" and "the Others" are "White Walkers", to dumb it down for the usual American, I assume.

Well, before book three there wasn't really a difference between them for readers either. Since no one had met the latter and lived. Sooo there might come a distinction.

This is what I assumed too, even though the White Walkers we saw in Season 1 were quite different, and blacker..
And if I'm not wrong, the episode where the wildling incest guy smuggles away his son, I'm pretty sure we vaguely see a White walker then too, it did seem similiar to the ones in season 1.

The only thing I don't get about the season finale is...
- Spoiler:
- The White Walkers have no compassion, clearly! They kill children! Remember back to Season 1, the prelude, there was a Wight child. Yet, they ignored Sam.

- Spoiler:
- I haven't read the books so whatever I say has no base ground behind it.. But, I think it wasn't compassion but more to intimidate him, and perhaps so if he makes it out alive, he can warn people? To show a living their full might? *shrug*

- Spoiler:
- I think, by the sheer amount of them, that the 'Great Other' as Melisandre called it had finally decided that now was the time to get down to business. Sam was insignificant to the bigger plan, whatever it might be.

it is rather obvious.
Dramatic effect to make the show actually show the white-walker and wights instead of Sam fleeing like a squiling pig. from 'something'

Also, when you're about to crush the anthill you generally don't crush the lone ant outside of it that isn't a threat.

Hey, it would have taken two seconds to quickly do a stabby stabby and move on. As Am said, they did it for Dramatic effect but it didn't really make much sense.

- A Storm of Swords:
I think they confirmed the Red Wedding to be the season 3 finale, with a certain poisoning and murder in a loo being part of Season 4 I expect. So, prepare the most epic plot-twist since the death of Ned Stark! \o/
