I have only one thing to say: HAPPY FUN STUFF!

Found this bead, when the multiple layer update was quite new. Read Boatmurdered, played the game, got addicted and rolled a dwarf here.

After a summer of playing DF, I put it down playing it now and then and got addicted again, when the next big update on April Fools day rolled in! xD
Then my fort fell on some bugged farms and stopped again, been peering the site and prolly gonna start again eventually.

Definetly one of the best games I've ever played, if you can get over the graphics and learning curve. Very Happy

It's just... just... You can do so much with those li'l dwarves!<3

I still remember my first fort, I build it on sand, on a map without any mountains. xD
I had no lava, but wanted to make my own drowning mechanism, so I built a giant tower to pump water from a brook and drop it on the goblins...
... In the end I managed to make a shower that killed all the plants in the area and only washed the enemies...

For anyone who read Boatmurdered, go ahead and look up the story of the fortress of Headshoots, then read the continuation about the fortress of Syrupleaf

I once made a village by a elf village, I then proceded to use a couple of hours to dig a large cavern underneath the entire village and then make a canal around the entire town.
When there was only one tile left holding the entire town up i set all my dwarfs on a hill to watch as one of them removed the last tile.

The town collapsed and everybody died o.o

I once thought i was doing really well, but then on dwarf became depressed and stood on a bridge, then all the other dwarfs who walked past him became depressed, and eventually they started to throw themselves in the river.

Dwarf fortress still kicks arse though

I was thinking... Defias Bloodline game! Yay or nay?
Embark on some crazy location and try to survive before some idiot brings down the whole fortress!

Sounds both terrifying and interesting.

That could actually be a lot of fun.
Like travelling to a place with only ice on the surface and a aquifier three layers down.....
We would survive two years or something xD

Likewise!
I'm certain that, if we were peppy enough to do journals similar to the other Bloodline's they'd be wacky enough to compare with them easily!

I'm already thinking what crazed personalities we could spring up...
What if one player decided that building an aboveground palace made of ice was more important than production of enough trinkets to afford all the food and booze the fort needs for the winter.
Or another ruler who thinks that the note system is useless and leaves only meager knowledge what all the leverages that sprung under his rule do. Each fortress has to have its own unlabeled suicide switch...

Hmm, I'm starting to like that glacier setting, I wonder how hard it would be to pump lava all the way to the surface to melt it?

A list of interested players as well as the turn order would probably be a good idea to have before anyone starts anything.

The first seven dwarves have been named:

Saevir
Thenkar
Lini
Halya
Gnash
Saali
Ezlbag
Mervyn
Kavalis

If anyone else wants a dwarf named after them, they should post and it'll be done on a first-come, first-named basis.

Hur, I suppose that no one will complain, if I'll play the year after Saevir and then upload my save. Someone else will likely have appeared to continue the line by then.

Also a dumb question: Wha's that lazy newb pack? I've always played vanilla, is it just a tileset or does it tamper with the save in a way that prevents using other versions? Or was it just a joke and I'm overthinking this? xP

Edit: Bah, we'll do the turn order and the list, when it's needed! Life is exciting!
