[IC] Theology is a fortress! Empty [IC] Theology is a fortress!

Theology is a fortress; no crack may be accounted small!

The bright, morning Sun peeked over the horizon like a prairie dog, its warm and golden rays flowing over the stone steps of the enormous cathedral as the sky was flooded in a deep, blood-red; the cathedral's towering spires casting long and unearthly shadows across the vast city of Stormwind. As the massive and wooden doors of the cathedral were gradually pushed open, the assembled priests discovered a sealed letter:

To the Most Reverend and Illustrious Father of the Holy Light, Primate of the Church of the Holy Light, Archbishop Benedictus, worthy of all admiration and fear; and to the revered and enlightened priests and paladins of the magnificent Cathedral of Light.

May the grace and glory of the warming and comforting glow of the Holy Light shine upon you forever! Forgive me and may the Light spare me, a mere man from the dregs of humanity, for having so much boldness and audacity to brazenly dare to think of writing a letter to the epitome of all that is righteous and holy, the supreme devoutness and saintliness that the Archbishop does embody!

With the Light being witness of my smallness and baseness, I have agonised for weeks and weeks as I compelled myself to defer from writing such a vulgar and crude letter, which I shamelessly do now, to the highest and ultimate pinnacle of faith that is all that you and your priests and paladins personify. I wholly acknowledge that I owe you, most Renown and Reverend Archbishop, the upmost of penitence for what I am about to detail and may the most gracious and righteous Holy Light spare me from the depths of the Twisting Nether – the pit of darkness. Therefore, I beg you to deign to gaze upon the measly speck of insignificant dust that I am and for the sake of all that is holy and righteous to heed my heartfelt and desperate prayer.

I wish not to bring false and baseless accusations of malevolent nature to the glorious Cathedral of Light and all its respected occupants and nor do I seek to uproot the much powerful foundations of the Church of the Holy Light; so I beseech you to not label my words as a shameful and sinful display of wickedness but instead to listen to the words which I wish to transcend to your Highness. I write this letter merely for the many lost souls that are committed to your most gracious care and giving nature.

O Light, most good and benevolent! I have been witness to many a disgusting display of utter lewdness circulating beneath the high turrets and spires of the Cathedral of Light. The common folk of Stormwind City lay rotten in the disease-infected canals of our city, seeking guidance from those who will not usher it! The Cathedral of Light busies itself with the self-indulgent exhibits of power as she flaunts her walls of stone and splendour, barring all entrance to the weak and unsightly. These self-gratifying demonstrations of glamour and power only seek to seduce the crowds of masses with lustful temptations of lasciviousness! Steeples of stone need not be built to show the righteousness and glory of the Holy Light but it is faith and faith alone that will guide the people of Stormwind City with the Light that will cast them out of the blindness that has gripped the much cherished people that are under your guidance!

The Holy Light is the incarnation of just righteousness and piety yet no piety I see or hear in the teachings of the Church of the Holy Light. What use be there for golden candlesticks and ludicrously eccentric titles of authority when it is faith alone that should bare the fruits of our everlasting and eternal fidelity to the Light! Works of love and piety are infinitely better than selfish indulgences and yet these are preached not in the absurd ceremonies of "faith" within the gold-plated walls of the Cathedral.

All I may do now is pray to the Light that you, O Most Honorable Archbishop, may deign to look upon this matter with the love and caring guidance that an ordained and holy man of the Light would endow, and do away entirely with the exploitation of faith and impose upon all the preachers of the Holy Light to relinquish all self-indulgent displays of lewdness and to make way for the simplicity of faith that will overcome all hardship and save us from the eternal damnation of the Twisting Nether.

I beg that your Most Illustrious Grace may accept - in the spirit of a Father and a Priest, i.e. with the greatest clemency - my words of heartfelt faith, altogether devoted to you, Most Reverend Father, since I too am a part of your misguided flock.

May the Light have your Highness, his Most Reverend Fatherhood, eternally in His keeping.
From Northshire Abbey, an eternally devout pastor of the Light.

OOC:
This letter was sent by a character who I hope to introduce in the coming weeks to "Stormwind role-play", and so this is the "build up" to that. I hope you all took the time to read the letter and perhaps even reply to it, sending your aforementioned letter to Northshire Abbey. I'm also sure that my character would most likely be exocommunicated within the next few days(?) for actually sending the letter, although my fellow, more experienced, human role-plays may correct me if I'm wrong in thinking that :).

Thanks again and I hope you all enjoyed reading (and writing!) the letter.

Thank you, Anaei! (And psht, my character had to time-travel, squeeze himself into a wormhole and pop into our world - buy a typewriter and then squeeze himself back into the same wormhole just to write this message! Now that's true devoution to religion, hun. :p!)

Sanctimonious Sanctuary.

The rolling green hills of Elwynn Forest rose and fell like the sea as the golden rays of the morning Sun flowed over the picturesque landscape. A figure trudged along a worn-down path, a heavy satchel, bulging with letters, hung from his back. He stumbled to an abrupt halt as the eerie trees of Duskwood loomed over him from the horizon; beads of sweat rolled down his glistening forehead as he shook with agitated fear, the satchel that contained this letter being pressed against his chest with trembling hands:

To the Most Dutiful and Pious Priest, the Abbot of the Chapter of Anethion, Brother Osmand Lightguard, worthy of all praise and admiration for his unyielding faith to the Holy Light.

The grace and blessing of the Light be upon you! I sincerely hope that this letter has found you in the best of health and fortune, and may the Holy Light and all His righteousness and glory never part from your unyielding and indomitable fidelity to Him.

O Light, most benevolent and good! I am but a mere worthless man from the multitude of insignificant specks of dust from the cesspit whence I came. I feel smitten with awe and admiration as words of your prodigious exploits in faith and devotion reach my ears. Whilst my unbending faith to the Holy Light - that will never falter until eternity’s end - does not waver, I cannot help but be witness to the turbid ebb and flow of the relentless sea of fear and evil that seeks to fling the poor men of our misguided people back and forth like helpless pebbles. The once great people of our kingdom have fallen prey to the temptress that is power, glory and wealth; she who seeks to taunt them and entice them with shallow displays of materialistic and unimportant things.

Therefore, I have sought many a lost and misguided individual to counsel and save from the unrelenting depths of the Twisting Nether – the pit of darkness; and as I studied the fathomless ways of the Holy Light, I stumbled upon the Book of Anethion which seemed to have fallen to me from some heaven above. My mind was utterly and completely overwhelmed by the very words of wisdom that have been woven into the pages of this indescribable book! My soul rose above all the abhorrence I was witness to and I could feel a new understanding surge through me; praise be to the Holy Light, most merciful and compassionate, the very incarnation of righteousness and piety!

I wish not to interpose between you and your acts of faith yet I beseech you, Brother Lightguard, to save me from my terrible plight! I fear for my life that the ignoble men of Stormwind City seek to end. With every passing day, I feel the end looming near, lingering ever so close to me! Whilst I would graciously accept whatever the Holy Light may bring my way, I cannot allow myself to pass on onto the afterlife when I have but sown a few seeds of faith in this evidently sick world! And so, I humbly implore you to grant me sanctuary with the Chapter of Anethion in Darkshire! Not only do I seek to no longer be ignorant to the illustrious teachings of Anethion, but I wish to serve the Holy Light’s will as I always have with the Book of Anethion that will now guide my once ignorant and shrouded path!

May the Light have you, Most Reverend Brother and Priest, eternally in His keeping.
From Northshire Abbey, an eternally devout pastor of the Holy Light; Jonathon Matthew Dawnthorne.

The glaring, morning Sun rose from the horizon, its long, golden rays opening like the flowers of a magnificent flower as the yellow disc ascended the blue, virgin sky. Amidst the rippling blanket of green hills of Elwynn Forest was Northshire Abbey. Its old and worn down walls bore the signs of age as thick moss and vines crept up the cracked stone walls of this edifice.

In one of the abbey’s secluded rooms was the pastor Jonathon Matthew Dawnthorne. His brow was glistening with sweat as his eyes darted along his desk’s cluttered top, the very pupils of his eyes dilated with agitated worry and apprehension. His hands zigzagged anxiously across the desk as he fumbled with a bundle of letters. Peeling one away from the others, he read it for the umpteenth time as he heaved a sigh of much needed relief, his hands slowly ceasing to tremble.

Hail Anethion friend.

Indeed your letter has reached me, I am touched by your words. Your views on the people that have lost faith in the Light seem quite wise friend.
It is good that you seek counsel, perhaps you should look to the Light for council for I am man a man with flaws, it is in the Light you will find true guidance. It brings joy to my heart that you read our scripture, if will prepare some more of our Holy Books for you.
Please Brother come, come and learn the ways of our Chapter and aid the Light.
Please make your way to Duskwood and I will be there, I am sure we can have an enlightening Conversation.

Glory Under the Light.

Signed
Brother Osmand Lightgaurd, Apostle of Anethion and Minister for Education.

The aging pastor closed his eyes as he slowly raised the letter to his damp forehead. He swallowing drily, his hair plastered to his face with sweat.

There was a sudden hammering on the door.

“W-Who is it?” stammered Dawnthorne, his hands shaking as he clutched the letter in his hand, clenching his hands tightly whilst his knuckles were bursting white.
“Open the door,” came the strong and deep reply of the newcomer.

The pale rays of the moonlight shone down on the hilltop, bleaching the green grass as Dawnthorne and his bulging stomach were bathed in the cold and unearthly light. He breathed in and out heavily, his clothes drenched in sweat as he relieved himself of the heavy sack which he carried on his back. He narrowed his eyes towards the horizon and could make out the distant outline of a forest. Disgruntled, he picked up his flimsy, rusty and newly acquired short-sword in the same manner that one would pick up a fish.

Resting his head on his engorged backpack, he slowly tried to see if he could fall asleep. He couldn't.

Hope you all enjoyed the plot-line so far and thank you to Osmand for replying to my letter! This last section that I wrote is a bit different from how I usually write, so I don't think it was written all too well; although, any feedback, if any, is much appreciated of course. Thanks again for reading!
