Well, I just wish that you were given a standard set of gear and everyone has the same averaged stats. It just creates more of a "we outskilled you" instead of gear based combat. Of course, at higher levels that is the case but it's a grind to get there. A lot of MMOs do the shared gear base nowadays and it really works.
The only issue with it is that a lot of people love that grind and gear up because of it, stopping when they've maxed their gear. There would need to be a bit more incentive to replace it, so vanity and other such things could play a bigger role.

Lavian Dawson wrote:Nimble should be the trademarked creator. I'm already farming the mats for it and by the looks of it the mount itself is account-wide so the idea of having a gnome sky-golem pilot is tempting! (Seriously, come on. I couldn't picture Lavian using it afterall)
The only challenging part is if those mats are correct it's farming the 90 spirits of harmony that will be the most time consuming.
I'm not sure if the rest know, but i didn't, well least not yet. Basically those 90 spirits of harmony would be for the alchemist to farm, which my pala would be really bad at it. I guess i'll just have to farm more trilium ore/ghost iron ore instead to get the stuff.

It's not pay to win. It gives no advantage aside from speed of leveling. Can easily be disabled if they care for that senario.
As for "good thing".
As long as they have the sub fee, offering these kinds of services won't be. In my eyes. It's just dipping their toes in both pools.

This, basically. Blizzard either need to stick to the sub fee, or move to things like this. Personally, I'd prefer they stick with the subscription. I don't like micro-transaction stuff, it's the main reason I tired of Neverwinter as quickly as I did.
As for being able to buy 100% experience boosts? No, I'd rather never see that.

Reminded me of Knight Online or Silkroad Online or Cabal Online or any other F2P that I have played. Except we're not playing a F2P.

"We are currently exploring the possibility of adding a way for players in certain regions to make purchases directly within the game."
So I guess it's actual money you'd pay for that? Hmh, silly stuff...just make that cost either tons of gold or some new currency you can farm from a set of dailies, rather. I'd also rather prefer to keep my WoW sub-based than F2P.

I tried TOR F2P, and I don't really see myself liking that model. Bumping into walls like "Pay to do more than 3 BGs a week!" can be frustrating.

So all in all, another way to make money. Doesn't surprise me one bit. Don't like it, but didn't surprise me. It's Blizzard we're talking about.

Anyone who knows anything about good F2P will tell you TOR failed spectacullarly I believe.Melnerag wrote:I tried TOR F2P, and I don't really see myself liking that model. Bumping into walls like "Pay to do more than 3 BGs a week!" can be frustrating.
They limited play. The things that should cost is convinience, not the game.
Extra armor skins (not stats). Maybe some character skin you can use when making characters. Character slots. Etc.
Race changing, yes even leveling speed.
The "If you don't pay you can only do these many fun things a week!" was a very bad way. It'll also (I think) get fewer people to convert from "free" to "pay". You'll never enjoy BG's if they are only occational in a true sense. And to discover them being fun you need to do more than 3 a week. So they practically limits themselves there.
WoW already has everything setup to dump the sub-fee without adding anything silly, or restrictions. Blizzard are also more likely to be smart about limiting those who go for free. (I base this on the recent SC2 changes, where people with "starter" can play WoL or HoTs fully if they do it with a friend who have the riht game. (Still limited to terran)).
They've got the premium services. THen add some XP boosting stuff and maybe even repboosting etc. Could even throw in gold boosting. Nothing make's you stronger (gold would just inflate the econ even worse than it already is). The services are already well used. And now they might likely feel more well used since a lot of people who might want to use them don't since they feel they already spend too much.
Edit: It would also not be F2P, unless they also removed the Boxcost, so it would be Buy to Play.

Re: Mists of Pandaria
Removing the sub, should that happen, fine by me. Having micro transactions for EXTRAS would be cool also. But not, as Muz says for things we already get. Limiting isn't right, adding more is fine.
If that brought purely "time" boosts (rep, xp gain, prof gain) or cosmetics (armour dye, armour model) that would be fine by me to be fair. mounts, pets etc already are buyable. They have no real impact. So long as "free" version still exist in game for those who invest time, I don't mind if some people skip that time investment and buy other versions for real money.
However, I'd not be overly happy if, for example, the new model skins or existing barber options etc suddenly became fee payable. That would be shitty.
Moving from a sub-based game may, eventually, be the way Blizz goes. But this single datamined thing doesn't say that for sure. neither does the Blue response. WoW is still very much a cash-cow for Blizzard. They're not going to cut off that golden teat (subs) any time soon I'd wager.

The problem is though, wow has a very shitty economy, basically arbitrarily none.
and that's something they can only fuck up more.
I really don't want to see IAP or(IGP? here), nor do I wish to see a premium currency, it just makes everything even worse. There is no equity in this game, so adding any of that, really muddies the game even more.

Re: Mists of Pandaria
A tradable premium currency would be a horrid idea.
Something like "Riotpoints" that you can only use on your account yourself. (Aka you can pay in 20 Euro, for that you get points you can buy shit like the realm transfer (with normal still there ofc)). Is a non issue, but the minute that get's tradable it'll break the econ WoW has.
But if WoW dropped the sub fee I'd likely come back.
