Description:

The Silver Vanguard is, despite what the name suggests, not a military guild. We are a story-driven RP adventuring guild with only a basic, mostly superficial, military structure meant to keep order in the case of IC problems. How you call your fellow guildies or officers is up to you. Whether you wish to refer by rank, name or class type does not matter, as long as you speak with respect. Jedi, as well as Troopers and Smugglers, often refer to eachother as ''friend'' or ''brother'' for example.

What we aim for within the guild is to create events and stories that capture the feel of Star Wars, and make its members feel that they leave an impact. That they mean something. To stimulate that feeling from the very beginning, people do not become raw recruits when they join. Event wise we seek to create smaller operations rather than massive events to allow people to become more personally involved with what’s going on, and allow heroic actions to truly shine. Freedom of choice in methods takes a high place on our agenda. Though we don’t shy away from the occasional big battle or gathering, this is not where we will put our focus.

Members of the Silver Vanguard are volunteers. We keep a ‘you’re free to leave’ policy. They aren’t asked to give up their responsibilities within the Republic or the Jedi Order, and are free to refuse missions. However, once you sign up for an operation you are expected to support your comrades to the end, and try to the fullest of your abilities to complete your objectives. It is a sign of poor respect when you leave your fellows behind, and will earn you nothing but scorn and a boot out of the proverbial door. At the same time, every Vanguard may be called upon to lead an operation, regardless of ''rank''.

The Silver Vanguard is part of the Republic in every aspect, except on paper, wherein lies it’s power. They can do high-risk missions and even direct assaults on the Empire, while the Republic can deny being involved. At the same time, the Vanguard receives support mostly coming in the form of anonymous donations and clandestine goods supplied by the Vanguard’s Smugglers. On the other side, we do not stand above the law. Extreme (war) crimes will be dealt with within a Republic court of law, or the Jedi Order.

Different roles for different classes:

Different classes have different roles within the game. So too within the Vanguard. We treat and regard every game class as equal, but that does not make them the same. While we seek to create diverse events that require all classes to be present, or will make them to be useful in any way, there are missions that some classes are better suited for than others. Here follows a list of different example roles for different classes.

Trooper: Troopers are straight-forward fighting machines. They specialize in missions that involve few stealth elements, little cover, and a lot of enemies that need to be dispatched. Troopers will sooner be assigned to assault an Imperial prison camp, than they will be assigned to crawl through a ventilation shaft to free the prisoners in secret. They may also be assigned to distraction missions so that Smugglers and Jedi Shadows have an easier time completing their objectives.

Smuggler: Smugglers in the Vanguard do the sneaky work. They have the fastest ships, and the biggest know-how of how to get from place to place without drawing attention, or getting supplies to the Vanguard without the Empire finding out from where. They will more likely be assigned to missions that involve extracting sensitive data from an Imperial computer in secret, rather than a front-gate assault.

Jedi Knight: Jedi Knights are guardians of the Republic, not soldiers. Even so, the war calls for an increasing need of Jedi on the front lines. Jedi Knights are assigned to assist in all kinds of operations that require a solid defense to fall back on. Jedi Knights will also be the first line of defense against the Sith.

Jedi Consular: Seeking their wisdom in the Force, just as Jedi Knights do, Consulars may just as well be assigned to support all kinds of missions. However, a Consular is a diplomat before all. When there is a chance for a peaceful solution, the Consulars will be there to find out.
