A plea to the Council of small matters
To the Minister of Justice and his/her fellow council members,
War is a horrible thing. Time after time it will turn generations of young hopeful citizens into scarred and disillusioned veterans. Our wars have been many. Our veterans carry the weight of all the blood spilled, and all the crimes of war on their consciences. The burdens are heavy, and every day, heroes of yesterday's wars fight losing battles against anxiety, depression and the bottle. I know this, for these battles are my battles as well. As a former Marine I've seen things no man should have to see, done things no man should have to do. Returning home to the city I dreamt of all those years, just to see how carelessly life carried on was devastating. I've seen the last, little crumb of faith die in the eyes of my fellow soldiers when they realise just how meaningless their sacrifices have been to their fellow citizens.
More than that, I've seen the injustice society inflicts upon its veterans. Over the years of fighting, I've witnessed several of my brothers in arms discovering in the heat of battle that they've got greater powers at their disposal than the swords in their hands. More times than I can count, I've seen responsible usage of the Fel turn losing battles into great victories for the Alliance. I've seen warlocks stand in the face of impossible odds, laying down their lives for their country, faction and for all that is good in the world. I've seen warlocks embark on missions they know will be their deaths, because they knew they were the only ones who could do it, and knew that even with their deaths, the world would be a little bit of a brighter place for it. Then, after the wars, I've seen the contempt, fear and hate in the eyes of our city's civilians as they've looked upon some of our greatest heroes. I've seen great heroes of the wars die to acts of vigilantism, be condemned to years in prison or die at their own hands as the society they loved turned its back on them.
When I read the recent wanted posters issued by our beloved Stormwind Regiment, and specifically "Fel usage" listed as a crime on one, I could no longer stand by idly. City guards are contributing to the further stigmatizing of veterans who have given their everything for their country, when they should be singing them praises.
Please, honored councilors, stop the injustice against one of the most vunerable groups in our society. Warlocks are a part of this war effort, as they've always been. Warlocks have fought for us. Warlocks have died for us. Let us please stop calling "being a Warlock" a crime, for the sake of all our current veterans, and for the sake of the veterans of the wars yet to come.
Responsible Fel use is a necessary evil. Not a crime.
Sincerly,
John Caldwyn

(The post may reflect my opinion on law 2.10 and the server's general attitude towards warlocks, deathknights and things that are different)

(Military sanctioned warlocks are permitted, as long as they don't practice their magic\summoning inside the city.)

Re: A plea to the Council of small matters
(( Exactly that! Warlocks do what they want on the battlefield (preferably raining terror and destruction upon their enemies) but inside the cities they're advised not to do so. I have seen many cases of a warlock (or whichever) using 'illegal' magic to rescue a citizen and them not being punished for it, but when they do suspicious stuff, yeah.. I also have seen someone getting arrested for 'looking very, very evil'.
As with all laws, they're subject to change: if enough people wish one changed or deleted, it can happen! There's been a lot of discussion about 2.10 in particular, but every time it seems the majority wishes to keep it as it is, thus far at least.
As with all serious letters, this one too will no doubt be revised and discussed in the next session! ))
