RP & Population

DefiasBrotherhood has been an amazing RP hub for me and most other people as well, and it always will be. I don't think I'll be leaving this server at all, but I know that many of those who used to be among us passed away (to another server, let's keep it dramatic though.)

The population is dwindling, to be honest. There's still a large quantity of us as a whole and the quality is great, but all in all, RPers server-wide are decreasing. (Or so I think, I'm an Alliance RPer, so do tell if Horde RP is diminishing too!)
I feel like this needs to be addressed with a modernised and fresh look.

As I've said, RP is leaving, but I feel we're not doing too great to help with that either. Take it like this:
We're a tourist attraction and we like to travel, but people mainly know as for being in one spot most of the time. So, we stick around, get some tourists to visit us and more people come because they know how great we are. But what we're doing is we're travelling around before those people have a chance to visit us, and in turn people will know where we're meant to be, but we're never there.
To relate this to the actual server RP, I am talking about skirmishes, events that involve travel, pretty much everything that involves some form of long-period journey away from the actual RP hub. This occurs too often in my opinion. Ofcourse, I'm not saying "Don't leave Stormwind or I will hunt you down with a speargun and meathook." I'm just saying don't be away regularly, because it leaves the RP elsewhere just.., gone.

That is what I wanted to say currently, I can also go on to say that some people need to stay true to RP concepts (though that'd be a bit hypocritical on my part) but that'll be something to say when replying to people commenting on this topic.

The reason why people are leaving is really because we are in that sort of dragged out period where the expansions last raid is not longer cold and everyone is just waiting for the next expansion. I've played since vanilla nad its always like this. Combined with newer games like ESO and also final exams and so on coming up its very logical that people are not spending time on WoW, but that will suely change once the Expansion comes closer. Yes, we have to stay "strong" at this time but its just something that the community needs to ride out.

This thread always makes me feel old.

RP has been dying, decreasing, dwindling, disappearing, diminishing and so on ever since mid vanilla.

If you want people to stay in Stormwind, the one hub on the server that does NOT suffer from lack of activity, I suggest you do something to make people -want- to join the megahub.

My advice is just to throw such concerns out of the window and concentrate on roleplaying and creating roleplaying. I admit, i am an optimist, but Roleplaying won't be going to die anywhere soon as long as there are dedicated people on the server willing to create and contribute into roleplaying.

So this thread should be fun to watch...

Maybe there'll be more RPers in Stormwind if they weren't being killed by taking Warhammers to the skull all the time.

... People complained at the end of TBC about "The Decline of RP".
Just then it was on the Realm Forum not on this forum.

I can't speak for if they did at the end of Vanilla since I was on US realms at that time.

Maybe they then complained about the lack of OOC-ers. Mehehehe...

I find the previous thread, and then I copy paste my own post and add the post to the list where i copied it from.

Edit the interresting thing is that these threads are always filled with these people:

the one that complains.
the one that tells the other to stop complaining and do something about it.
the one that says he has no problem finding rp and that things are being imagined
the one that says its a cyclical problem and every year there are obvious lulls and rises in RP

I'm of the other mind. I think if RP is frequently found outside of Stormwind, people will be more likely to travel, and enjoy the server. I'm always delighted to find someone out in the random world somewhere.

Multiple RP hubs make for more RP simply because travellers can discuss what's going on elsewhere, IMO.

Well, a lot of people are just lazy from what I gather and love being in their hub all the time and never want to leave it.
