Anyway Mages can do pretty much damage but it won't go on forever like probably your Ingame mana lets you (Casting fireballs for the whole day without driping a sweat) . BUT that doesn't mean prob you're gonna cast ten spells and be meh i'm dead!

Blink seems to follow ye olde rule of "You must have visual contact with the destination", which is why it doesn't allow you to blink through walls and so on. So no, you wouldn't blink inside somebody else or into a tank and kill the pilot.

You should read the ingame book a bit in Dalaran I belive it mentions something on least blinking -into- someone. Heh.

The second most famous use for transmutation magic is teleportation. The most basic teleportation spell is blink, and it remains among the most useful. Blink can be used to quickly escape a foe - or save a mage who has accidentally fallen off a cliff. Do not attempt to use blink to escape falling to your death unless absolutely necessary. This is the kind of trick you can only fail once.

Make absolutely certain you know your destination before attempting to teleport. There's a reason we have very specific spells to teleport to certain locations - attempts to cast a teleportation "on the fly" often result in one very dead mage inside a wall, chair, or another mage. And I don't mean in a fun way.

Rule #1: Never blink into space occupied by anyone else. Blink, as it has been taught, replaces the air and water from the casters target position, to the casters starting position. The spells success and widespread use is based on its simple elegance: The real objective of the spell is to replace the casters body with whatever is in front of them - the fact that the caster is moved to that area is the side-effect.

Blink is a basic-level spell, cannot be used to go through or into objects without death or severe injury.

Blink is not an incredible powerful spell. It could tire someone if they were to do it constantly, sure, but what source said Jaina got really tired after only doing it a couple times?

And you know Jaina almost drowned the entirety of Orgrimmar without a proper source of power other than her own anger.

Creating spells is very fun. Don't limit your role-play by focusing on a character that can do very little just because you feel forced to. If you enjoy that, fine, but I've never had issues playing a mage the way I do.

Vaell She almost drowned Orgrimmar because she had an artifact that was owned by The Blue Dragonflight and that was used to create the mana bomb that destroyed Theramore...

Can you provide proof that A- Artifact is capable of increasing Magical Ability or Power, B- That Jaina had said artifact on her person at the time of the incident, and C - That said artifact was usable -after- being used by the Mana Bomb in Theramore?

EDIT! - Personal research shows that in the events of "Jaina Proudmoore - Tides of War", she did infact use the Focusing Iris to increase her power, thus summoning legions of Water Elementals. My apologies.

Regardless of this, I feel this thread has derailed. This was James saying he was thinking of starting a Battle Mage, not a discussion of Mages IC abilities according to lore and, you know, facts. Perhaps a new thread for Mage abilities?

I wonder about one thing though Are Spellbreakers a type of Battlemage's? I mean it seems so just that Spellbreakers were mostly Mage-Hunters.

The spellbreakers were a special breed of warrios I believe. Whos method of training are pretty much lost (even if it shouldn't be but lore. And how they'd be entirely OP in the setting of WoW)

I believe most Sin'Dorei guards are actually trained to be spell breakers. They at least share the same model and pose as the Spellbreakers in WC3.

I think the Loreology response on them was that they're all based on Quel'Danas where they do sunwell protecting things these days.
