[A] Band of the Brave

The Glorious Leader has gone on holiday to Darnassus for a week in a reluctant quest for inner peace.

She's left the enigmatic Heir'tar Blazesong in charge.

....Oh dear.

Looking good. RPed with the band a few times, and I give it my thumbs up. This is the place to go if you want a character of yours to really flourish in to a character with depth and personality.

The Battle of the Braves!

The Battle of the Braves is a recurring dueling tournament where the victor is awarded the title of "Champion".
The Champion of the Braves, in addition to the awe and valor that come with the title, are awarded free repairs for as long as they can hold the title.

The rules and location may be different every edition. Sometimes there are no rules - Sometimes there will be strict ones.

But one thing is always assured; A Brave will have to give it their all to emerge victoriously, and claim the Champion title.

The following note has been paperclipped under the main announcement:

Grand Prize:
The victor may call themselves "Champion of the Braves". They will receive a voucher that will reimburse them any weapon and gear repairs, and they will receive a Royal Satchel of the finest Pandaren quality.

Changes to the Rules:
The outcome will be judged by your peers; Your fellow combatants. After every match, and in the event of a five-minute draw, a vote will be held that will determine the victor.

This tournament is in character.
That means don't use off-specs your character doesn't have access to, no using profession benefits that your character doesn't have, and no using class elements your character doesn't display.

Basically: The fights are in-character. Every aspect of them!

No rules. Your peers determine what is fair.
There are no rules against using big-cooldown spells, profession benefits, potions, flasks, elixirs, scrolls, crazy items, specs... Only that what you use, must be in-character.

However, matches will be judged by your peers. If you use a bunch of overpowered elements to win a match, your peers might decide to name your opponent the victor! We will create balance through in-character elements and interaction, rather then out-of-character ruling.

Champion: Adelane.
Runner up: Strisha.

On October 30th, the Battle of the Braves was held within the Blasted Lands. Many took part but only one came out victorious.

Congratulation to Daryon Morgan who defeated all other Braves and reached the top with the Champion title.

Runner up: Tom Sirchez.
Third Place: Derrick Howards.

Once again, Congratulation to Daryon. Due to WoD being around the corner, the next Battle of the Braves will not return until January. Make sure you all gear up, prepare and practice.

Recent events, and the future!

Yuan’do steps down as leader
As some of you might have noticed, there has been some changes in the leadership of the guild. The guildleader Madam Yuan’do has stepped down. Other members have said they’ll be more inactive from now on, so there’ll be some changes in what Brave people you’ll see around.

New leadership
I, Rinoi, am the new guildleader, and I’ll be promoting some new officers too. The current officers you can poke with all your questions are; Rinoi, Shapur, Lennix, Tygos and Jarke.

The times they are a’changing
I’d like to give you a small peek at the changes I have in mind for the Band. This is not set in stone, but they are my thoughts on the future.

The Future? wrote:
Slimming down
The Band has over time grown out to be quite big, due to our acceptance and openness to adventurers of any creed. This in turn brought us out of small-time adventures, to epic quests and joining in with large military movements. I feel this does not fit the original image of the guild, so I will seek to bring it down in scope.

Adventure on the frontier
The band seeks adventure, in any form. We will be pioneers and trailblazers in any aspect. Be it daunting treasure seekers, wacky engineers, bards seeking the -perfect- song, we will attempt to be at the forefront. This may put us at odds with existing organisations, power structures or popular opinion at times, but that is part of the job!

Wanderers on the road
Until recently, the Band has made its home in ‘the Garrison’, dubbed Fort Wellsworth after our former Glorious Leader and founder. From this fortification in Shadowmoon, the Band planned its missions. However, as I feel that the owning of a garrison does not fit the Band’s image, we’ll relinquish control of it and head out into the world. Our domain is the road, the campfires we make, and when times are good- the crackling fireplace of an inn. We’ll still RP in the Garrison, as it’s a gorgeous place, with that aforementioned crackling hearth… But we’ll be visitors, not rulers.

They will give us actual boats that you can man with multiple characters with cannons you can fire at other player boats, cool triangular hats and shoulder-mounted parrots.

I would -love- that. As any who know me or Rin's passion for boats would know. A customisable, sailable ship. A floating garrison! Instead of building outposts, you just sail your entire garrison over!

Some changes to the Band
I felt the Band was headed in a direction that didn’t fit it, so I proposed various changes to take the guild in a way I would enjoy. These were posted on the Brave forums, and talked about in game. I received mostly positive reactions, so…

Changes to the rules!
On Saturday the 27th I announced these changes in character- our last few days in the Brave garrison. These are the following changes;

No more garrison overlords!
The Band will leave the garrison as their IC home. We will still RP there, but as visitors, not permanent residents.

OOC officers
Lionheart is now an OOC officer role. It doesn’t hold sway IC anymore. The reason for this is that some IC characters would deserve to be officers, but their players have no interest to do that. Other characters are too wacky to hold a position of authority, but their players are active and can help with leading the guild. It is also a position that can be in flux. Someone who is promoted as officer one month, and becomes inactive two months later will be demoted. That is not meant as a slight to them, but simply the nature of activity in WoW.

Other rank changes
Dragonheart as second-in-command will remain inactive for the time being. The rank of guild leader is renamed to 'The Chief'.

90+ and Warlords of Draenor
The Band will be having most of its adventures in Draenor at this time, as such, everyone will have to be at least level 90+ (and in possession of Warlords of Draenor). Alts of existing characters that adhere to the above rule can join with lower levels.

Too big!
The Band has gotten too big to be an adventurer’s club, and instead turned out to be more of an army. I’ll be more actively removing characters that haven’t been on for two months, and those that are below level 90 to clean the roster up some.

I got kicked, what’s up with that?!
If you found your character or alt kicked, and are wondering why- or would like to return. Give me a whisper in game, or a PM on here and I’ll look into it.

I hope that informs you all on what’s been happening. You’re always free to shoot me a PM or whisper me in game for your thoughts on this direction for the guild. I am open to the discussion (although I might not always be in game, depending on when you contact me.)

For all Braves who get this letters. I have an announcement and it's a good one. The Battle of the Braves will be returning at the end of January, the 29th. It will take place within the familiar lands of Shadowmoon Valley, close to the Fort we once lived in! I just hope you're all prepared, we may be on another world but that shouldn't stop us from having a bit of fun! But remember, the winner earns that all important Champion title!

OOC: Make sure to be prepared. Remember, pvp gear is boosted the minute you enter pvp combat. Though Pve gear is also boosted slightly, so either gear is fine.

The Battle of the Braves has ended for another month, the hard work from all the players really paid off. The battles lasted a while, taking place in the beautiful city of Karabor. A perfect arena was housed there for us to use! Next months Battle of the Braves will be announced on Monday 2nd February!
