[A] Band of the Brave

Survival Hunter, man.

Hey everyone! The Band is still alive and kicking, and we've some exciting things planned! I will soon post an update on what adventures we've been on- and what lies ahead in the near future. I will soon be posting the above post to Battle.net as well (edited to fit of course), so we've got a presence there too. For now I just want to add that we have started raiding, and have recently defeated Imperator in Highmaul with a group of Band members, friends, and a few folks from group finder. I personally hope to get a full Band team together in the near future, and we're certainly moving in that direction.

Furthermore, I want to get the Band more in touch with other guilds, so we don't disappear into a vacuum. I'll be reaching out to various people and guilds to see if you can join us in our adventures, or we get in trouble/hired by you! If you have ideas yourself, please don't hesitate to contact us!

Rinoi, this is one of the sexiest guild registry posts I've ever seen. Great work!

I can't believe I'm a part of that great picture, not to mention this amazing guild. Rinoi, you spoil us. I completely agree with Taph here.

There we were, just sitting and eating sausages when all of a sudden…
Trolls and orcs arrive from the sea in their savage canoes and set up a tent! A tent that rivals our own lovely purple tent! Madness. A grave insult. Scared for our lives, and the safety of our freshly bought sausages and booze- we fought as best we could. It went back and forth a few times. But separating a Brave from their sausages is something that simply does not happen! … Well, not while they’re sober anyway. Regardless, after some savage fighting that left everyone limping and possibly missing an ear or nose, Chief Rinoi offered to share the sausages in a bid for peace. Unfortunately the bad blood between Alliance and Horde still ran too deep. The trolls and orcs retreated out into the wilds, and the Band returned to their camp- often looking over their shoulder, seeing sneaky trolls in every shadow that surrounded them in the darkness of the night.

Another fight is sure to come soon, no doubt…

The Band is currently filled with a lot of great characters with engaging backstories and personalities, but there's always room for more. Hope to see others, even non-guildies, become a part in one of our adventures!

Another ember escapes the smouldering campfire, venturing off to join the stars, those celestial bodies that must appear like gods to these petty flames. The robed, huddled down Draenei frowns as the ambitious ember is swallowed by the black of the night, mere moments after it separated from the rest of its kin. He wonders if it really takes the life of an immortal to recognise what an abundance of symbols, clues and metaphors life presents to its subjects.

A broad smile appears on his face, as he allows images and memories of past conversations with his mortal friends to occupy his mind. The gnome Kastarn, a friend that has become dear to him so quickly, who never seizes to surprise him with his sheer abundance of optimism, joy and generosity. To honour Kastarn, the Draenei had even sacrificed his oath to never wear expensive cloth again by accepting an outfit the gnome had presented to him. The pride radiating from Kastarn's beady eyes as soon as he saw the Draenei wearing his magnificent, blue wizard hat made that sacrifice seem like a small price to pay. Another gnome going by the name of Dimgo had already voiced his apparent obsession with hats that very same night. The Draenei wondered what he would have to sacrifice for that little one, one day. The most remarkable aspect of it all was that mortals deserved those sacrifices. They possessed the energy to keep both hooves of an ancient Draenei like him on the ground and for that he appreciated them greatly. And when it came to appreciation, the human girl Rinoi literally wore the crown. After serving her father, be it indirectly (thank the Naaru), the Du'nai spirit had already impressed him. But in the time he had observed Rinoi, he had witnessed her make so much out of so little. Nature had taught him that nothing ever really disappears and nothing is ever really added to the total. But the resilience and vigour of this human had defied such eternal laws. If life and fate were like complicated labyrinths, Rinoi had found a way to break through their walls.

A sudden cold breeze conjures a bright glow in the fading campfire, followed by a friendly voice. "How's the fishing coming along, old friend? Are the big ones biting yet? Or are you still ranting on and on by the waterside, hoping the fish will willingly jump onto land because they prefer death over your boring thoughts?" As the glow of the campfire fades again, another figure reveals himself, warming his hands at the campfire. On his head rests a familiar fishing hat, pierced with a number of different hooks and floats. Under the brim hides a cheeky grin, topped with a slick moustache. The newcomer is Cladiuos,  fisherman amongst the Draenei and above all else, one of the robed Draenei's best friend. He grins at his hatted companion, then plucks his chin thoughtfully, before replying: "I just do not see the purpose of taking fish out of their natural habitat, Cladious. Of course, this appears only logical in the case of intended consumption, but for study? It removes the essence of the beast, do you not agree? For example, if I would examine a Talbuk underwater, how relevant would the resu...-" Cladious seems to have heard enough and interrupts the rambling with a loud yawn. He sighs. "I guess that answers my question. Keep trying, friend. And do me another favour: Don't be such a bore. Sit back and clear your mind more often! You know, I bet you became like this because of...-" A loud scrape of the throat interrupts the laid back fisherman.

Both men turn their heads to see the third figure that joins the little gathering. "I can hear you, Cladious. That's as far as I will allow you to go this time." The third figure, a Draenei woman, speaks with a strict, condescending voice. She appears intimidating; her muscular body is clad in impressive, heavy plate; her face locked in a stern expression that could turn an orc army around with simply a look. Cladious rolls his eyes at the woman and leaves the scene. The robed Draenei however, seems delighted with the appearance of the vindicator. She raises her eyebrow after noticing his sheepish grin. "What are you grinning at, Temple kneeler? Lost in thought again, as always? Even though you know I think that Cladious is useless, he does have a point. You have to stop thinking so much. Remember what I used to say? Iron discipline and routine is what keeps the immortal brain healthy. Leave philosophy where it belongs, within mortality. There's no end to the answers you seek! Mortals can waste their life on philosophy because death presents them with a deadline. If you play your cards right however, you will live long enough for your thoughts to consume you. Emotions and passion are for the younglings and less significant life forms." The robed Draenei doesn't seem impressed. He's still smiling broadly, squinting his eyes suspiciously at her before asking: "Please enlighten me, vindicator. Was it your iron discipline that couldn't resist my godlike body? My superior intellect? My enchanting poetry?" The woman glares for a couple more seconds before she seems to be unable to stay in character. A coy smirk reveals that her defences have been shattered. "You're hopeless, Soulbinder. If I knew you would use our marriage against me, I would have thought twice about giving in to your endless advances." They laugh for a good minute before silence set in again. Then they just sit and exchange longing stares under the star filled night sky.

The silence is broken by a strange noise coming from the forest. The robed Draenei's eyes immediately widen and turn a misty shade of grey. His eyes scout the edge of the forest, trying to locate the direction from whence it came. More noise. It's a voice, but it sounds unnatural, distorted. The Draenei meets the eyes of his wife again. She looks at him with a torn expression and whispers: "Don't, please. Listen to me. Calm down. Don't go...-" The robed Draenei silences her with a raised hand. He's too busy locating the source of the sound. "It's him." he says. "He's still alive." The woman looks at her husband with tears running down her face, but he has no eyes for her anymore. He's too busy analysing the distant sound. There's still only the sick, agonising mumbling in the air. "We can't follow the sound. The... The ground distorts his voice. This means he's lying on his chest. He can't move. Why not? Spinal injury. Not enough to lose consciousness, not enough to prevent you from screaming." The Draenei's eyes flick back and forth, as if he's reading through an entire imaginary archive. Sweat runs down his head and he rubs his hands together nervously. His heavy, frantic breathing stops for a moment. "It's the second night. He's no longer screaming. He... He's talking to his family. F..fever has set in. We could still save him. We'll just set out one last search party." The robed Draenei seems to have decided on a direction. His wife stares at the place where the Draenei disappears behind the black veil of the dark forest. "Forgive me." she whimpers.

The first sunrays light up the green forest, helping the dewdrops to shine like diamonds. A proud, lilac Talador orchid celebrates the dawn of yet another day. Suddenly, cold steel slices through its stalk with great expertise. A painless, clean cut. Shapur's eyes shine with excitement. This was exactly what he was looking for! Petals of the Talador orchid will make excellent tea. Satisfied, he carefully stores the flower in one of his many pouches. He sniffs in the cool, morning air and smiles warmly. Rinoi will be pleased.

In the mind of a Madman [Event Campaign]

During the weekly meeting 16/3 Voranos brought with him a letter from none other than Dr. McCartney, a former companion of the Braves who never truly joined and now the Braves know why. The man is simply utterly insane. McCartney has been going about killing innocent and peaceful Orcs of the Frostwolf Clan and he has even gone so far to kill the younglings with them. He’s a madman and he needs to be stopped before he is aiming his private army towards the Braves in sheer madness! The letter that was brought by Voranos contained information about his location and was (believe it or not) an invite for Rinoi personally! Rinoi did however not accept this invitation so things got a little out of hand.

This is what happened in chapter one...

Chapter One - The Iron Docks

The band of heroes set out to find this man of wickedness and after a couple of hours of travelling they all realized where the cordinates would lead them. The old iron docks, the same docks that should’ve been cleared of the blackrock Orcs months ago. It had indeed been cleared of Orcs but was now occupied by the mad Doctors private army, consisting of only Humans with black armor. They call themselves The Reapers, a fitting name for an army of mercenaries that has been slaughtering innocent Orcs for months now.

As the band of heroes arrive at the location they are halted by two men who are guarding their path into the iron docks. They are greeted by the barrel of two rifles pointing right at them as one of the men tells them to state their buisness. That’s when Tygos introduces and tells the men that they have been invited by the Doctor himself. The men would lower their rifles and let them in, peering at Jack as he passes by. Those were not the only eyes Jack would have upon him, oh no. The band of heroes would journey trough the docks that was now filled up with men and women from all over Azeroth, all different cultures, but they all shared a deep hate for the Orcish race. A lot of eyes were set upon Jack with him being an half-Orc, but no one would come up to them until one man does.

The man tries to pick a fight with the heroes but they all realize that picking a fight would not be wise judging by their situation of being surrounded by an army of two-threehundred mercenary soldiers. A brave Pandaren woman does however step up, Zui, and does indeed challange the man to a fight if it would stop man from harassing Jack. The man would draw his sword, but the second the man raises his sword into the air he would be greeted by a bullet to the back of his head coming from afar, sending the man to the cold ground.

''Peace and fuckin’ order, is tha’ too much to ask for?!’’ shouted a familiar voice from afar and it was indeed the Doctor himself who was waving towards the group with a smile on his lips, even though he just delivered a bullet to one of his own mens skull. The heroes approched the man who was sitting ontop of a boat with his rifle out. He would tuck it away and ask the group how they have been and also where Rinoi would be to which Pip’ answers that Rinoi couldn’t attend due to her marriage. The Doctor seems to be freaking out over hearing that Rinoi is getting married and starts throwing stuff around and pulling his hair, just like a madman would do when he is not satasfied.

The Doctor would aim his rifle at Pip’ in sheer anger and ask her why, how and when before having a crossbow aimed at him from Zui who was trying to protect her comrades. The Doctor slowly squeezes the trigger, aimed at Pip’, but before he would be able to send that bullet towards Pip’, other bullets starts flying around and the sky is filled with a rain of bullets from ontop the walls of the iron docks. An ambush!
The Blackrock Orcs has been gathering an army of its own and is now set to reclaim what is theirs, the iron docks. The Doctor sees his army slowly getting annihilated by the fury of the Blackrock clan. ’‘LOK’TAR OGAR!!’’ could be heard from ontop the walls as the Orcs slides down with long ropes as the fight breaks out. The Doctor panics and decides to make a run for it and sends Murg, a Ogron, towards the Band! Murg puts up a good fight, but can not best the heroes. Murg is finally killed by Voranos who chops the poor Ogrons head right off with a smile on his face. Tygos would have begged the heroes not to kill Murg and did not resort to violance himself, but sadly it had no effect on the heroes. Tygos shed a tear for Murg after the fight.

After defeating Murg and some of the Doctors soldiers, the heroes would turn towards the boat that was carrying the Doctor towards safety. Pip’ would help Jack up on the crane that was carrying the boat but was greeted by a good old chair to the face before recieving a knife as a desert from the Doctor himself before he mounts up a goblin-made machine-gun that he aims towards the heroes. Jack would have surely taken a bullet, but Luna shields him bravely, ready to take a hit for him before Voranos would take one for her. That’s companionship for you right there. The Doctor would in fact make his escape but he had one last suprise for the heroes before he was about to take his leave...

A buzzing sound could be heard from the sky and as the heroes all looked up, they would notice a Gilnean-made zeppelin hovering above them, carrying a giant bomb that would surely wipe out the entire armies together with the heroes if they did not make their escape! In a desperate attempt to save their lives they all ran towards the water as the bomb quickly was moving towards impact, a certain death if the heroes hadn’t jumped in the cold water. As the Heroes swam towards the surface again they could hear the screams of both Humans and Orcs who was now lit on fire by the bomb dropped by the zeppelin. Some of the poor souls tried to put out their fires and ran towards the water but few even made it so far before they dropped to the cold ground.

The heroes saw a boat that was occupied by mercenaries not too far out and decided to swim towards the boat and hijack it before driving off to safety. The Doctor was nowhere to be found.

Is this the end of McCartneys madness or will he now find another way to go on about his endless slaughter of Orcs? Find out next Sunday in chapter two!
