I had an OOC issue with the entire existence of a catch all guild that had no concept besides hanging around in the Pig & Whistle and acting bad ass. When Blades for Hire stopped being active and guilds that actually had unique identities prospered [due to the population change] I was very glad.
To be fair this is all true tho. But good luck with this anyway. Old members reuniting is always fun.

Hooooboy, seeing as a few people have said Blades had 'no concept';
1.They were a guild begun due entirely to ic events rather than ooc planning. None of us sat down and went 'aha we shall make a merc company' out of the blue with brand new characters. They were formed by a handful of ex-ravenholdt sanctuary characters after mutiny against Vincent Whitecastle. Needing money, and protection, and having few other skills by which to make a living, they formed the Blades. The founding of the Blades came about through roleplay.
2.The aim of the Blades was to orchestrate the downfall of the Sanctuary. (Icly, I add. No ooc animosity). Only the founders new of this to begin with, trusted members were eventually told.
3. The Pig was chosen because Astraea and myself has helped run the Northern Soul (r.i.p) pre-Cata. Having a hub in Stormwind was important, and it worked as a concept because clients could come in, discuss jobs, etc, with ease. As well as that, it provided an active pub for the community in a previously empty/unused spot.
4. We expanded fairly quickly to begin with, and took on a lot of people who were brand new to rp, or to the server. A lot of people back then didn't or would outright ignore people they didn't know.
The last point is towards those who say we somehow prevented other guilds from flourishing because we were 'too large'. It's bollocks. Having an active, friendly guild is ONLY EVER a positive for a community, because when those newbies are more secure in themselves and the server, and have a good grasp of things, quite often they will go on to create their own guilds. Looking at the RP scene now I count a variety of guilds which came about BECAUSE the people in them were taken in and supported by the blades whilst the rest of the server would turn their noses up at them because they didn't know 100% how everything worked.
Activity attracts more activity, not less.

Awesome that you dont feel that bitter kitt, i only joined a year or so ago, just as you an hump began to plan the big RL stuff, and saw the slow decline of things in the recent months, but you know what?, im sure you and hump did a bang up job from start to finish.
besides, the "death" of the current Guild is one of the best guild death's one can ask for, no grief, no drama, just a slow old man drawing his last breath in his sleep, having witnessed some other guild death's in my years, i can more than relate to the burden of leadership.
Plus!, change is inevetable, either it rises again, or more ambition is used on other guilds, its how it is.

1+ Like for erwtenpeller and his post.
As for you, Cerik... Seriously dude, grow up. You're basically saying stuff like:
"I'm not racist, but n*****s are slaves to the white man" and expect people to fall for your "reason" and craptalk? You have cancelled the Senate and are bashing all RP events but not providing any of your own. You want to give people a picture of TTH that other peoples events aren't worthwhile to attend to, when in fact it is that you are simply afraid of showing what has happened to TTH under your and Gogol's "leadership".
I mean, fine. Don't attend others events if you don't like them. Heck, you may even find them lolworthy (as many did with the "Scourge in Khaz Modan/IF" events, which was why I didn't attend those. Those were going against lore, not that you care much for stuff like that). But you don't exactly post anything constructive at the moment, you just keep telling how everyone else but you suck in how to "properly RP".
Tell me, Cerik, how come that several RP'ers in TTH quit the guards after some of your events? Was it because of them not comprehending your "genius" in the making of those events, or did they just get disgusted by the torture scenes of innocent victims in the jail who wasn't even charged for anything, just hauled in for a bit of random torture? Vonthic almost threw up from watching those scenes and left the guards, he and others didn't want to be part of such twisted "RP" that you and Gogol promoted.
If you insist upon being such a "pro" (read 'dick'), take Gogol with you, head to Sporeggar and revive your Soviet-style RP there. Quite many people (90 and it keep growing) around here are dreadfully bored of that stuff, and your attitude don't really add anything positive to their views upon it. But leave other peoples events alone, don't piss on their parades when they want to organize something fun, for the nostalgiatrip.
Do us all a favour and leave us alone. Your presence is merely annoying now, and further bashing from you will be reported to the mods.

This reminds me of a number of Gene's old posts. I used to agree with them too.

I'd like to believe that we (The Forlorn Cartel) as a guild don't display the values that the few of our members that posted in this thread have.
I'd like to apologize for my guildies jumping on Cerik's boat in this thread and wish you good luck with this.

Though I may personally disagree with Ceriks opinion, he did indeed stop posting after he was asked to by a moderator.
Just drawing the line here for throwing comments in his direction, since it really takes away from the event!

Curse you and your common sense. I wanted to say something. I'll just post a gif.

And Belse is off traveling with Kitt and Humphry. If you can persuade/black mail them to come back for a night. I'd be happy to tag along.

I did say I couldn't say those things, doesn't that count for something
All I will say tho to you and the mods is that if someone does something that crass and cheap what is wrong with letting the forum be outraged? It does no harm really and might make him leave, plus if people talk smack about my friends and then escape censure due to my waking up to late it is more likely to cause resentment. Blades were great and are missed.
Go Blades go!

Except that it derails the topic the thread is about. Better to take that in the vent-thread or such perhaps, so the event can carry on with its course. Cerik has been warned, unnecessary to see us warned too for continued derailing.
EDIT: I wasn't in the Blades, but I know that you were a good community and a starting place for new Human RP'ers, just like DRS/TTH used to be for the Dwarven such.

I actually went to Belfast to get fireworks today.
I will with great pleasure respond later though via a thread in the General Chat, perhaps entitled 'Being nice OOC doesn't make you a good roleplayer' to illustrate my point better.

I think you're clearly missing the main point most people are making. And focusing on the point you want to make. Let me highlight it for you to make it simple.
The majority of the people in this thread, don't care what you have to say. At all. And don't care if you think they're a bad RPer. I know plenty of people that think you're a bad RPer, and I'm sure vice versa. Get over it. There is no need to ruin the forums with your negative shit. If you have nothing decent and useful to say, then please for the sake of everyone on here, just stop posting. It'll spare a headache. I'd prefer to hear about the fireworks and what patterns they made in the sky then another stupid ass pointless post/topic on this forum.
EDIT : Sorry Ledgic. Just getting tired of this crap.

I would politely ask everyone of you to drop it and stop derail the thread further. I thank Cerik for his answer to my question earlier, but i do not think we have any need to continue what started from that. If you desperately need to continue the conversation, please do it on another thread. Thank you.

Re: [A] Blade for Hire Veterans Meeting - 8th of January, 2014
My first RP experiences were actually with the Blades for Hire, although I was never a part of them. I was just getting interested in RP on my human paladin back in Cataclysm, when I noticed dark-dressed men and women hanging around that tavern in Old Town. I spent several nights just hanging around that tavern, joining in on random RP by telling my character's stories to other tavern visitors, and sometimes confronting my paladin's righteous views of justice to the shady Blades. Although I must admit that I wasn't a very good and experienced RPer at the time, I really got a few nice memories from it.
I just want to say thank you for being around before, and for making a public place in Stormwind that encouraged random RP. I might never have found DB's fantastic RP community if it wasn't for you.

I think running a bar is so very good for the community, a you say it gives a neutral area for new rpers or for rpers with out a guild or a big circle of friends. It can give a good platform for telling your story to.
The best thing with the pig was how the blades made the npcs a part of things, they had a real personality.

Quite true, one of the reasons we had a bar in IF as well (even if it was empty of NPCs) was due to have a neutral RP spot that wasn't about military or Senate where people could gather and enjoy themselves.
