[Iron Horde RP] Skyfury Clan (old topic!)
Ezlbag, Nifty and I have been thinking about creating an Iron Horde RP guild for Warlords of Draenor, and these are some of the ideas we had so far. The purpose of this topic is to find more people interested in the project and most importantly toss ideas around together. Constructive feedback/criticism is more than welcome!
As you can see we haven't yet decided the clan's name nor where it will be based, we will as we know more about the expansion!
(If you want to contact in game or on Skype me just look at my signature)
Overview
The Placeholder Clan will be an Orc-only, Iron Horde-aligned RP-PVP guild based in Draenor. Our aim is creating a close-knit community where people can truly experience what being a blood-thirsty, warmongering, pillaging Warcraft 1/2 orc meant. The Iron Horde plot-line will be extremely important to our RP and we'll try to follow it as new patches come out.
Warfare in general will be our core activity, but there will be plenty of room to develop our shamanistic side and to indulge in clan-related activities like hunting, story-telling, mentoring younger clan members and so forth.
Clan membership won't be limited by kinship, orcs from outside the clan will be able to join us too (we already have some ideas).
Ranks/Titles
Out of character ranks will be kept extremely simple, something like that:
Committed guild members will also have the chance to grow into a prestige/hero class through a long plot-line which will involve the entire clan and possibly other guilds, since we want people to actually earn such a status. Here are some examples:
Since Orcs are a very fierce race we're going to offer our members lots of chances to boast their strength in front of the entire clan. We plan to have plenty of duels, Team vs Team fights and massive brawls where the last Orc standing will be proclaimed Champion. We also look forward to challenge other guild's Champions in cross-guild tournaments!
RP & RP-PVP
As those who took part in the Rebellion campaign know, the lack of Kor'kron opponents made the events a bit dull and predictable after a while (although the campaign itself was indeed awesome). Since the Placeholder Clan is going to be part of the Iron Horde we hope we can work on a series of events to actually role-play the entire Alliance/Horde campaign, closely following the expansion's plot-line.
As an Iron Horde-aligned guild we plan to give the Alliance and the Horde a hard time - especially the first, for simple gameplay reasons. We want to create plenty of RP-PVP events in Draenor, in order to give the feel of a true war-torn world. We also look forward to Ashran, the new World PVP zone.
We had the idea of enforcing a "No strangers" policy all across Draenor, similar to Second Gurubashi Empire's: if one of our warriors stumbles upon you, you'd better run or be ready to fight! You are of course welcome to enter our lands and taunt us out of our fortresses to seek vengeance if you are brave enough. We are orcs, so we're always in for a fight.

Looking good!
We in BWC are also keeping a close eye on the Iron Horde, but I won't say anything beyond that before we're given more information about the expansion by Blizzard. However, if things line up properly we may be able to have some entertaining interaction in the future!

Signed up for interest. I recommend putting a roster at the bottom and listing everybody who you got interested and maybe making a skype group to keep up communication!

Looks quite great!
I've been pondering about rolling a orc that'd join the Iron Horde and be a part of one of those clans (as I quite regret missing out on the chance of RPing the Kor'kron in MoP).
I haven't fully decided anything yet, and waiting to learn more about the expansion like others, but I think I'd be interested in this and would roll a character/faction change for this!

I 'think' the Iron Horde shunts Warlocks. Garrosh did not like them, but i 'think' the answer is "We can not answer before we know more of the Iron Horde lore"I'll have to join you on an alt, will you guys accept warlocks?

Yeah, that's why I asked if they accepted them, but I wasn't sure if they were accepted at all and just shunned or just not allowed in full stop. I'll probably just level a different class anyway, t'll just make it easier.Inran/Skarain wrote:I 'think' the Iron Horde shunts Warlocks. Re: [Iron Horde RP] Skyfury Clan (old topic!)
Good to see so many people interested, feel free to suggest ideas or post interesting/inspiring stuff about the old Horde and the Iron Horde, this is an open discussion!
In any case, warlocks probably exist in Warlords of Draenor, Chris Metzen stated during the Q&A section that Gul'dan has been corrupted already.
Orcish warlocks are basically extremely potent shamans whose insatiable thirst for power eventually leads them into the arms of Demon Lords, to become even stronger. I guess you could join the guild as a warlock, although whether or not you will have to be secretive about it will depend on how the guild turns out to be: will we be more similar to Gul'dan's Stormreaver clan or share Blackrock Clan's hate for warlocks, fueled by Orgrim Doomhammer? This is really up to us to decide, but as Inran pointed out we will wait to know more about the Iron Horde first.gnivil wrote:I'll have to join you on an alt, will you guys accept warlocks?

- Spoiler:
- Q. Since the timeline is going to take place before the rise of the Horde, how are demons going to factor into this expansion? Is Medivh still going to be possessed by Sargeras and talking to Gul'dan?
A. Dave Kosak points out that on the promo image for the expansion, Gul'dan is still green. He drank the kool-aid and bought in. In this configuration of events, Gul'dan was the only one who bought in, and that creates tension between him and the other orc clans -- it's something that will be explored. Gul'dan has already taken the power and offers it to Grom and the rest, but history goes a very different way. Metzen points out that history up until that point had progressed the same -- Gul'dan had started to build the Shadow Council, he'd succumbed to that corruption. Things change in that moment in which instead of drinking the Blood of Mannoroth, the other orc clans say no. Gul'dan plays a fairly major part in this storyline, and he's not entirely pleased that his plans have failed -- and neither is Kil'jaeden.
Q. Gul'dan's posse -- Cho'gall, Teron Gorefiend -- are they with the Iron Horde, or are they still with Gul'dan?
A. They're with Gul'dan. At this point in history, Teron is known as Teron Gore -- he's not Gorefiend yet. He's still alive. And these characters will play a pretty big part with Gul'dan's story.

Yeah, I'll probably stay on my 'lock actually and if you guys decide to be anti warlocks I guess I could potentially say to be more of a dark shaman.Zinkle Figgins wrote:Stuff

How are you going to role-play brown-skinned Orcs when your characters are necessarily green-skinned?

Re: [Iron Horde RP] Skyfury Clan (old topic!)
The same question immediately came to my mind as well.
But I do believe that having a player-faction of the Iron Horde will be valuable enough for role-play to work around that. Maybe it's a clan that's been painting themselves green for centuries to better stalk around in the Jungles? Maybe it's an outcast faction of the Iron Horde that was like "Fuck you! We're gonna have iron AND fel! Bwhahaah!"

Blizzard did make noises about opening up alternate skins when they do the character models update. Whether or not they actually will remains to be seen.Thelos wrote:I hate to be that guy, but...

Good question Thelos. We will have to decide whether to play along with our skin color (fel-touched clan) or just ignore it and pretend we're all brown-skinned. We can of course come up with something similar to what Erwtenpeller said to explain why our skin is green. However I still hope Blizzard will let us have brown-skinned orcs, they hinted somewhere they want to give us more tools to customize our characters (although they didn't say much more).

You could always all roll Death Knights! They get to have brown skin...
...But also cold, blue, dead eyes...
I'm sure you'll find a way.

There is an orc skin colour atm which is really dark, like a greenish grey, popular with RPers who play Blackrock/Dragonmaw orcs atm. Provided it is still a colour after the update that would kinda work for any blackrock fans.

Well, in spite of my skepticism I would like to wish you good luck with this project. I hope you manage to sustain the enthusiasm and ride out the momentum all the way to the launch. I distinctly remember the announcement of Mists of Pandaria also encouraging a lot of creative energy, few of which ultimately survived to make it to launch.
Who knows? I might be on the other side in my shiny crystal armor to offer you an easy antagonist!

Yeah, there's also a browny-green skin which I know is also popular for those who RP Mag'har orcs. Even if the guild can only be green but want to RP as brown skinned, it shouldn't be too bad, it's not exactly unheard of for people who play orcs atm to RP as brown skinned. It should work whatever way the guild decides to take it.Lexgrad wrote:There is an orc skin colour atm which is really dark, like a greenish grey, popular with RPers who play Blackrock/Dragonmaw orcs atm. A great idea! I hoped to see a Kor'Kron guild in MoP's late patches, but as that didn't happen I'm gonna be thrilled about having an Iron Horde guild on DB in WoD! I think it would really help make RP better; having not only Horde vs. Alliance, but also have the factions split up into other sides, such as the Iron Horde.
As Gor'Thrak said, I'm sure the Blood Wolf Clan would be interested in interacting with such an Iron Horde guild.
