Challenge Modes Empty Challenge Modes

Post by Zinkle Figgins Tue Oct 22, 2013 4:33 pm

I'm looking for people interested in doing Challenge Modes on the Horde side to get the transmog sets (seriously, how awesome is this?). I've never done them before, but I learn quickly, play fairly good and love challenging achievements like these. Who wants to give it a try?

I would also love to hear from people who already achieved this, how was it? Got any tips for us? Did you use any guides?

I've done them all on gold twice over on a DK tank and Paladin healer. For god sake find a setup that gives the best results and dont make them melee heavy and for the love of all make sure, nei vital you have a hero/timewarp guy.

Thanks for the tips! Can you suggest a guide you used or you just figured out what to do on your own?

I can come heal on my disc priest! That'd provide a slight bit of extra dps to the mix :3

We started doing challenge modes the other day! We went to Stormstout Brewery and almost nailed it, after a long series of wipes. What we'd need is a good tank to form a staple group, it would make things way smoother.

My Death Knight just reached level 90, I intend to set it up with a PvE tanking set.

But I need a clear heads-up in advance to be able to participate, so I can plan the role-play around it.

Well, I can't do challenge modes on days that there are big role-play things planned. So I need to know which days these challenge modes are happening if I am to participate.

Role-play always takes priority Smile

Ah ok, I thought you meant planning role-play around challenge modes, that's why I was puzzled.

Of course RP comes first, that's why we're looking for a staple group, so we can pick days in advance according to our guild events.

I can put a notice up on the Marauder forums? I'm sure there are more people interested in running challenge modes. Might increase the pool of interested people.

Sure, go ahead. The aim is doing challenge modes with fellow role-players and without having to pay absurd prices to get boosted, so everyone is welcome.

It might be constructive to get a clear picture of what's really needed to do challenge mode dungeons. Do we need any specific tactics? A certain type of gear? A certain item level?

Your gear will be normalised so ilvl doesn't matter.
Invisibility potions and speed increasers to skip trash will be a great help.

But gear only scales down, yes, not up? And enchants and gems do weigh in, I think.

Then there are scrolls and elixirs, food buffs, that sort of thing.

Pack a lot of flasks, food and potions (invisibility ones as well for certain dungeons).

Tactics can be found on plenty of forums, and there are a lot of guides on Youtube as well. They're not hard to grasp, at the end of the day it's all about growing as a group and being able to coordinate well.

I've missed the updates on this thread it seems.

Technically ilvl doesn't matter as any gear over 463 goes down to 463 BUT having gear with a good socket amount is a nice bonus as the extra gem slots means slightly more stats as they don't get nerfed in the downscaling.

Invis pots, dps pots, flasks, food tables. A class or two with an aoe speed boost (I'm looking at you, hunters).

As for a guide? I used this briefly but it's outdated as tactics have changed a bit where people have discovered faster ways to do things since.

We have tried the Temple of the Jade Serpent this evening, it was a bit easier than Stormstout Brewery but tough nonetheless; I guess we'll probably nail it within the week. So far we noticed a tank which does a lot of damage to trash mobs is slightly better, it makes us save a lot of time.

That makes sense. What about discipline priests as healers with atonement? They deal an extra lick of damage as well.
