[A] Freelancers (Updated)
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
Take heart, citizen of the Alliance, the City of Stormwind is in need of your skills and abilities, knowledge and strength to make further progress on the fields of explorations, science and archaeology. Stalwart men and women alike of the Alliance are heeded to join this noble cause to further our knowledge, our lands, to explore the unknown and discover wondrous mysteries that fall on our or faraway lands.
The Royally Commissioned Outfit of Academics, Adventurers and Explorers, dubbed Freelancers, seek to enlist your aid to our noble cause. Be it surveying mineral deposits, discovering and studying ancient artefacts or areas of interest, or traveling across snowy peaks, swamps, deserts and other treacherous landscapes, our thirst for adventure, knowledge and the mysteries of our world will never be quenched.
Seek out the officers of the Freelancers and enlist for work today!

About the guild:
The ‘Freelancers’ is a guild based around the theme of exploration and adventure, since we loosely follow the steps of the Explorers League, though the whole concept is not limited to that alone. The guild is an organization that seeks out many things in the name of the Alliance, or more directly, Stormwind.
As a guild to members, we offer random RP, ‘DMed’ events, short and long expeditions, giving out assistance with other guilds, both IC’ly and OOC’ly. World RP-PvP events are also something we tend to join as well. Our guild members have the opportunity to join in a Rated Battleground group that happen every week, which is hosted by the community or even late-night Flexi raids with the Disciples of Light. Dungeon runs, scenarios and levelling sometimes happen too when enough people want to. We also advice having higher levelled characters, as they have better access, in both RP and OOC senses, to more zones, raids, and etc.
We have a set hierarchy in the guild, with the Director (GM) directing the guild, officers to keep their assignment in check, the three paths people can advance in and then the fresh recruits. Even though our guild members are free to explore, search the world for themselves and bringing new information, skills and more for themselves and the guild as a whole, it is advised to let the officers or the Director know, as it often avoids confusion.

Guild paths:
The scholarly type. With a sharp mind and the willingness to learn, they are tasked to unravel the mysteries that surround us on the field or off of it.
An adventurer, traveller and scout at heart who goes into the world to find artefacts, discover new lands and mysteries that the world has to offer.
Adventure is highly dangerous, the explorer will have his handy ice axe if anyone slips, the academic will solve the deadly puzzle yet the guardian hits adventure in the face and keeps an eye out on the members overall.

Re: [A] Freelancers (Updated)
- Handling PVP/ganking:
- Since DB is RP-PvP server there is a lot of oportunity. Some of us of course find PvP fun, though we aren't really focused around it, but having for instance PvP gear makes it all the better. Joining IC PvP events/skirmiskes/encounters/campains. Those always bring intrest and fun. Of course you're not limited just to RP focused Pvp though there always a change of getting ganked repeatedly while out doing events among other things by guilds who like to grief.
When shit hits the fan:
When all are dead, the highest ranking officer on site, and/or the creator of the event asks the rest to wait. He/she will go through the following options:
1. Are we completely sure we're unable to fight back? (Most likely we'll be short on pvpers, but fair fights could happen)
2. Do we handle this attack as IC or OOC?
If IC:
Fall back to graveyard, HS to a safe location from there. One or more members may be required to act as decoy at kill site. This may require several attempts.
Pros: Immersive. What happened, happened IC too. Our unit was beaten back, possibly injured, and had to put off further activity due to the danger.
Cons: Whatever we were doing is no longer on. We'd have to figure out how to translate PvP deaths to IC injuries. (could be fun, but frustrating to those not good at pvp)
If OOC:
Move to another location and RP as it were the same place (Either a blue zone or somewhere else) Stay in ghost, finish event in ghost form. RP in /raid *emotes written like this* ((OOC in /guild))
Pros: Simple. We get to finished what we planned.
Cons: Creates an artificial barrier between what's going on on the screen, and what we treat as real. Or increases it, at any rate. May feel wierd chaning places.
General rules to lessen the impact of stuff:
1. Plan ahead.
2. All members on an expedition sets their HS to the same spot. Should be somewhat close to the zone, but preferably a sanctuary/booty-bay-style. The retreat can be RPed out in the outskirts of this place, after injuries etc. are settled. (Intial attack treated as over, now pulling back to avoid a clean-up)
3. Always have a raid group up when RPing in a contested zone, to see dead/alive and have the possiblity for /raid-RP.
4. Know our members. Who here knows how to pvp? Who's got pvp-gear under their transmogs? What can the rest do in case of pvp?
5. NEVER WHINE ON THE FORUMS. We should be above that. All our members should be taught that lesson. We suck it up. We keep our anger inside. Ganking that happens in the Freelancers, stays in the Freelancers. End of story. The world does not symphatize, they will see us as weak, and worse yet, get even more fun out of it. Labeling ourselves as victims, will cause even more victimizing behaviour from gankers.

Re: [A] Freelancers (Updated)
Something for our newer members and a bit of a event thing for ours today:
In our little HQ
New things on the noticeboard:
Work related:
-Freelancers are required to read the below report done by Ria, should help in future situations.
-Herbs needed from the Swamp of Sorrows, should aid to have a herbalist with you. Document the known ones any any unknown, prefered one of each herb found in the area at least.
-Stranglethorn Vale: Investigate the small island formation under the ruins of Zul'Kunda and report back what you find
-Stormwind: A book needed by one of our scholars "The Schools of Arcane Magic - Conjuration" - note he said he couldn't find the book in the Royal library and his contact in Dalaran said some idiot conjured a firestorm on the only unchecked out book there. Try and get one for him and bring it back to the HQ.
Question of the day:
WHAT THE HECK HAPPENED IN HERE?!

- Report:
- Report of white bears
Officer Manderson,
I spent some time in Dragonblight, Northrend observing these huge white bears and decided to make my report of this species.
Looks
White, yellow or light brown fur, huge size and feet very large. Perhaps the size of their feet helps them better to distribute load when walking on snow. They seem to eat fish and meat. Elks nearby were very often their targets. It was interesting to mark how stealthy they were before the attack. Like those elks, it seemed they were often unaware of the bear's presence until the attack was underway. This species seems to live only in cold areas as I haven't spotted them anywhere else.
How they act when provoked?
If provoked, they would attack immediately. While observing I noticed they were always very cautious. Also I think because there were not even close any settlements and thus no human interaction, they are unpredictable and fearless toward people. As I walked closer, the bear didn't hesitate long to attack. Fortunately my flying mount was very close and I managed to escape.
How one would deal an attack of white bear?
I highly suggest to avoid these beasts if it's possible. They are extremely fast runners on snow, you cannot run away unless you have some aid from arcane spells or something to trap or explode the bear. But if one comes as a target to white bears, I suggest to just fight back. What else you can do in that point anymore? Use your blade, try to hit beasts heart or head or just any spot. Maybe you are lucky to kill it or at least wound the beast so much you are able to escape. One more thing. While observing their attacks against elks, they were using their massive paws with extremely big and sharp claws to grasp the target prey. After the kill, they used their canine teeth to tear elks body.

Rumour is that the Freelancers, thanks to a gnome's quick thinking, for once didn't hand the dangerous loot over to the bad guys. Flawless victory!

Holy.. Baby Jesus.. Next step in our plan is to rename the guild Bridgelancers!
Re: [A] Freelancers (Updated)
None of us have been on the Bridge properly in months. I'm afraid that, that era is long gone.
