World Blog Empty World Blog

Post by Guest Sun Apr 07, 2013 12:58 pm

Hello.

This is an idea that I have developed based and inspired by the 'World' concept found on Prologue: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

A concept that we've been tossing around for a while now has been that of a World Blog. It is essentially like this Development Blog, but reports on happenings in the world of Prologue. I decided to give it a beta test to see how well it is received by both the World Team and Storytellers, but also the community. While the entries will be short, they are meant to inspire people to interact with the world around them. Consider it like a news ticker that displays recent events; they could be player driven events such as election results or declarations of war or peace. Or they could be World events, alluding to different happenings around the world, such as aggressive Gnolls in Elwynn Forest chasing off workers at the Eastvale Lumber camp, or hints at the possible location of a lost treasure ship. - Firefighter.

Full credit goes to the people of Prologue for conceiving this concept.

Essentially it is a blog like post, by posting scenario that in small summaries capture what goes on throughout Azeroth. It's not written from the perspective of your character or from any character, you simply narrate what goes on, (preferably in a part of the world you are role-playing in, for better 'connection')

Basic guidelines on these posts:

• Strictly no OOC posts with brackets, all posts that are OOC will be reported for removal.

• A narrative approach must be taken, you are not representing your own character, you are telling the story from above.

Lore changing scenarios: These posts are more unique due to the manner in which they affect outside lore. These must be sent in first via PM & if they concern another party, the consent of that party must also be given, this is too ensure that both parties are accepting of the lore changing scenario and there is no unnecessary drama. Drama resolution will not be handled here, if you cannot agree on a lore changing scenario it will not be posted.

Example #1

Example #2

Example #3

Posting here and there

In order to keep the realm forum as active as possible I encourage you all to post anything you post here, also here: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] in support of the realm forum.

Why is it different to the rumor mill?

This isn't the 'rumor' location, it's just that, an informative way of keeping up with on goings. The rumor mill is consistently misused for people posting about what's going on versus posting a rumor, this will help divert the traffic of rumor versus story.

Critique/Inquiry welcome via PM.

The 6th of May marked a rapid invading force by the Alliance on the Tol Barad peninsula, quickly fighting off any competition and securing the Isle, the force turned it's attention toward bigger and better goals: Orgrimmar.

Using mass teleportation as organized by the numerous magi that were present on the battlefield, the Alliance force was able to rapidly sneak up on the capital of the Horde and hit the gates and some parts of the inner city causing great damage to the buildings.

A revered General of the Blackrock Clan had also fallen in combat, his clan has already sworn revenge upon the Alliance and this might lead to an even more destructive response.

Ashenvale burns after an eruption from the Thunder Peak situated right in the heart of Ashenvale sent lava down the recently healed land. Fire Elementals have emerged from the eruption and are quick to spread their embers in a Western direction.

Whilst the Sentinels of Ashenvale work to halt the blaze, they also find unlikely aid from the Horde in Hellscreams Watch and Silverwing Refuge who are battling the blazes to save the Lumber. Neither side are getting too friendly however as they tend to keep their distances and work as independent forces.

Envoys from the Earthen Ring are struggling to halt the raging inferno as well, due to the Elementals being non-responsive. The Earthen Ring has also discovered that the Volcanic eruption was not a natural occurrence.

On the 10th of May, an old threat re-emerged: the Hand of Nightmares, one of the few southern cultist organizations to have ever enjoyed real success against the Kingdom of Stormwind. Whether it is at the strength it once was remains to be seen, but two of its leading members--Zaraj Blackblade and Axio, who appears to have been Braiden Mistmantle's steward Nalera Darivere--have become active once more.

Events have moved quickly since the appearance of the two at the Stormwind Keep. The Disciples and the Regiment have gone on alert, and the Mistmantle estate has once again been locked down--this time by members of the Stormwind City Guard. Rumor is that the estate had nearly all of its personnel, valuables, and coffers moved to an undisclosed location prior to the guards' arrival, and Braiden Mistmantle himself remains missing.

Meanwhile, the Ridgepoint manor of Minister of Defense Areyah Conover was burned to the ground, nearly resulting in the death of Areyah's daughter, Cathee Norris. Those in touch with the guards might hear that the Hand of Nightmares or the Black Hand--or both--are believed to be the culprits of the arson.

Ashenvale is still burning. The flames have now passed Astranaar and Hellscreams Watch. Whilst the most resillient of the biggest trees and buildings are kept from burning by the dilligent work of the Night Elves and Horde forces in the area, nothing is stopping the inferno from spreading ever Westward.

The Volcano continues to spew Lava into the lake below, but it's the Elementals that are doing the most damage as they force the blaze to spread in set directions. Oddly enough, it seems that the Elementals are ignoring Horde Forces, and are deliberately going for Elven targets.

It's no secret that whilst Darnassus and its Elves are focused on saving the land, the powers that be have sent their approval to the Natures Grasp order, giving their approval on a mission to go to Feralas on the hunt for an Eldre'thalas artifact that could help end this nightmare. To aid their efforts and prevent the Order from coming under attack from the Horde forces, Natures Grasp will be steering clear of Horde interests, and the Feathermoon Stronghold will increase security in the area to act as a deterrent and a distraction for Horde forces whilst Natures Grasp carry out their mission.

Over the course of April and May, independent contractors and Section Seven agents have been engaged in reconnaissance operations across the Kalimdor continent--especially the Barrens and Durotar. Horde settlements in the area may have noticed unmarked gyrocoptors flying high in the sky, and more than a few secret camps have started to dot the land.

Reports have begun funneling in to Alliance intelligence offices as these operatives complete their objectives. It is very clear to those few in the know that the Alliance has turned its eye towards the Horde lands of eastern Kalimdor.

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

The touch has reached further, as the few Alliance infiltrators within the Horde have been called to disseminate propaganda and encourage discontent. Though only a small drop in the pool of hatred the Horde has begun to feel towards Garrosh's leadership, the Alliance hopes that this nudge might be just enough to help start an avalanche.

Off the coast of Grizzly Hills, Northrend, the 23th day of May, The Stormbringer, the battleship and headquarters of the 157th Wild Tempest Company was laid siege by a Lich, Kedilith of The Frozen Covenant and her spectral army with devastating results.

The siege begun with mist creeping towards the anchored ship. The melody of a flute echoing through the air, setting the weak-minded into sleep. Clouds gathering and storm rising, as the first wave of undead sailors climbed on the deck of The Stormbringer. A battle commenced, where the spectral sailors dealt damage to the men aboard, and managed to take out the steam engines below the deck.

The waves rising, crushing against the ship, the rain starting and lightning bringing light to the ship in midst of the battle that could be straight from nightmares. Several waves of spectral sailors assaulted, until for a moments pause, a ghostship arose from the depths, unleashing barrages of cannonballs towards The Stormbringer. The battleship, however, well equipped for naval combat, managed to damage the ghostship severly with their own cannons. The ghostship then rammed straight to the ship of Wild Tempest, sinking itself from the damage done on it while the remnants of the spectral sailors climbed onboard, unleashing both sword and magic on the defenders.

And just when the situation started to look better, a Lich manifest on the upper deck of The Stormbringer. A fierce battle came place, the Lich having the upper hand, wrecking damage and impaling the hull of The Stormbringer with massive ice-spikes before teleporting away.

The Stormbringer remained afloat several hours after battle, before sinking down to the dark depths, giving those still alive chance to salvage whatever they could and transport them to Grizzly Hills. The great battleship, taken from pirates and modified for military use is no more.

The Horde is in open civil war. The trolls of the Darkspear, along with the tauren of Thunderbluff, the blood elves of Silvermoon, and with some support from the forsaken of Undercity, have begun staging attacks on Kor'kron territory. Two major bases of operation currently exist--the Darkspear Rebellion in Razor Hill, and the Northern Rebellion at Zoram'gar. Each is making its own push to eliminate Garrosh's remaining forces.

Meanwhile, taking advantage of the recent victory at Tol Barad, the Alliance has begun making use of the island's harbor as a staging ground. Elements of the 5th and 7th fleets have already been spotted, and more ships arrive every week. It is clear that some major operation is in preparation.

Stormwind naval patrols have been increased following an attack by pirates on the Cathedral of Light. Any illegal activity in the coastal waters is likely to be swiftly set upon by warships bearing Stormwind colors.

Stormwind Events
The Shady Lady bar, long known to be a hive of scum and villainy and home to the gang that calls itself "The Company", has finally gone too far. An attempted search by 1st Regiment commander Colonel Bismack Bronze has lead to the deaths of Bronze himself and the first gnome private of the 1st Regiment, Krankle. Meanwhile, the Shady Lady has been emptied of thugs, searched, and boarded up. The Stormwind guard are keeping a close watch for activity around the Shady Lady, and it is likely that the location will be unsafe for criminals for a long time to come. Additionally, a warrant is now out for the arrest of any gang members affiliated with the Company.

World Events
Meanwhile, war rages on the other side of the world. The civil war between the Kor'kron and the Rebellion has become an all-out free-for-all after the Alliance joined the effort, with all sides looking to pick up whatever pieces they can before the war comes to its ultimate conclusion. Treachery has become the word of the war, as not only the Kor'kron but also the Rebels and even the Alliance have suffered from dissent within their ranks.

What factions exist now? It is hard to say. There is the Kor'kron, on its death throws but still a powerful force. There is the Rebellion, confident and proud as it scores victory after victory but split down the middle after Grim and his supporters went rogue in response to the truce with the Alliance. And then there is the Alliance, united at the start but with widely differing plans that have resulted in two separate blocs each going their own way--the Night Elven bloc, content to tend to other matters while the Kor'kron and the Rebels kill each other, and the Eastern Kingdoms bloc, focused on taking as much Kor'kron territory as possible before the war ends.

One thing is sure, however: The war will end soon. The Alliance Navy, now assembled, is en route to its staging ground of Valiance Keep, from where it will prepare to sail to Kalimdor and war. On the ground front, the Kor'kron have been pushed back and are soon to lose their last holdings in Stonetalon and Ashenvale. They now rally in the Barrens, Durotar, and Azshara, their last Kalimdor holdouts.

But the end will not come easily. The Kor'kron are prepared to deal as much damage as they can before their defeat. They are tearing up the land for resources to prepare Orgrimmar for siege, and have a few powerful weapons left in their arsenal. The Sha, of course, but also one other, more conventional weapon: The main cannon of Bilgewater Harbor. If left unchecked, this massive cannon will spell certain doom for the Alliance Navy when it arrives. While Azshara may not fall before the siege begins, this cannon must be knocked out for there to be a siege at all.

(Imagien there's a goblin crest somewhere in there as well!)

Victory in Ashenvale!
The Northern Rebellion have fought a bloody war against Garroshs forces, starting with no other strongholds than Zoram’gar Strand (which turned over to the Rebels peacefully). From there, through Strength, honour, cunning and wisdom, they’ve made a bloody march against Hellscreams forces.

In extension of Vol’jins pact with Varian Wrynn, a pact was made between the Northern Rebellion and the Alliance, a cease-fire between the two. The Rebellion would leave the Alliance settlements alone in return for supplies.

After conquering  Hellscreams Watch, the Rebellion called down Garroshs’ Wrath upon them, and a large siege army was sent to dispatch of the Rebel scum. Rebel scouts managed to catch wind of the much larger Kor’kron force however, and retreated back to Zoram’gar to make their stand against the Kor’kron tide of destruction.

During the days leading up to the Siege of Zoram’gar, a meeting was arranged between a leader of an alliance military unit and General Bloodmark.  On Bloodmarks behest, Rebellion shamans conjured up a thick dense fog covering the water of Zoram strand.  At the third day of the bloody siege of Zoram’gar, General Bloodmark sallied the defenders out infront of the gate in what would have been suicide. Smelling the trap too late, the Kor’kron army didn’t manage to escape as the Stormbringer II and a horde ship opened fire upon their ranks, scattering the kor’kron siege army. As it ran to retreat, their path was blocked by a Keeper of the Grove with his army of treeants, holding them long enough for the Rebellion ground-troops to wipe out the rest of the Kor’kron survivors.

From there the Northern Rebellion have steadily advanced through Ashenvale, first re-taking Hellscreams watch, then invading and claiming Silverwind Refuge.

Along the way the Rebellion have learned that the Kor’kron plotted to take control of the Burning Legion in Ashenvale. This was done supposed to be done by summoning and enslaving two Dreadlords. However, the plan backfired when the Dreadlords turned Kor’kron warlocks against each other. As one Dreadlord was freed it turned the summoned host of demons upon their summoners.

From there the Dreadlords have plotted and planned,  but were eventually confronted by the Rebellion. They managed to escape, one of them seeking refuge in Felwood while the other moved to Demonfall Canyon, where it succeeded in summoning a fearsome Pitlord.

As the Rebellion was staying in Silverwind Refuge, dealing with intern struggles, they were also preparing for a last, strong move to remove the Kor’kron influence from Ashenvale without them being prepared. In secret, Splintertree post had been contacted and convinced to join the Rebellion, something they agreed to should the alliance siege be lifted. After a meeting in Moonglade, between representatives of the alliance and General Bloodmark along with his advisors, the Alliance agreed to lifting the siege, furthermore, a Cenarion druid gave Bloodmark a peculiar offer for assistance against the Warsong Lumbercamp. Despite the intern struggle weakening the Rebellion, they pressed on regardless.

When next the Rebellion moved against the Kor’kron, they did so like a bloody hurricane. The Rebellion first marched on Splintertree Post, seemingly prepared for battle. However, as soon as they approached and General Bloodmarks horn sounded, elves and ancients turned and simply walked away from the siege, to melt into the darkness of Ashenvale forest. Wisps was also seen appearing, urgently surging towards the south-eastern corners of the forest, where an army of ancients slowly had been preparing themselves.

Upon the arrival of the wisps, the ancients launched their attack upon the Kor’kron, drawing their attack. Meanwhile, at Splintertree post, the Kor’kron took an oath to join the Rebellion and marched together with General Bloodmark and their fellow Rebels, as they charged Kargathia keep from the South

The battle was bloody and brutal, but towards its end, General Bloodmark was seen appearing upon the ramparts of Kargathia Keep, holding the head of the Kor’kron general high while shouting to the Rebellion forces. From there, the Kor’kron army began to falter and was quickly over-come by the Rebellion forces.

All Horde settlements in Ashenvale forest are now under Rebellion control. And while they have achieved victory in Ashenvale, Azshara still remains firmly in the Kor’krons grasp.. And upon the horizont, looms the battle for Orgrimmar itself.

World Events - Alliance, Southern Barrens
Fighting around Northwatch Hold has been nearly completed. After a tough fight breaking the siege on Wednesday, Alliance forces began preparing to assault the remaining kor'kron outposts. Three yet remained before the fortress could be fully secured--the fire support base perching at the other side of the ravine, the naval base at Fray Island, and the blockade itself.

Alliance forces divided into three teams. An assault team lead by Marshal Gilran Steelfist lead the charge against the FSB. Choosing to use the less-guarded rear entrance, Marshal Steelfist's team charged past kor'kron forces on mounts. On the way they passed a kor'kron prison camp, but they ignored it in order to focus on their primary mission objective. Sadly, the choice to do so resulted in the execution of the Alliance prisoners being held there when it became clear that the FSB would fall, but it ensured that Steelfist's group were able to hit the FSB while its defenders were still unprepared. Though the group took heavy wounds, they managed to clear out the base, destroy its siege weapons, and recover leftover supplies and intel.

Meanwhile, a covert strike team lead by Lieutenant Iriel Silversong set out on rowboats towards the naval base, with the goals of securing the outpost and eliminating the kor'kron commander, Admiral Krulkar Deadmane, and his command staff. Things did not go as planned, however, and what should have been a covert mission ended up being a straight up siege! Casualties were heavy, eventually necessitating Lieutenant Silversong to request reinforcements. But the mission was a success, with the island secured and the naval command staff wiped out. Admiral Deadmane managed to escape during the fighting, however, and one of our heroes was captured and flown off to who knows where! Is it the last we've seen of either? Unlikely.

While all of this was happening, Wild Tempest marines and bombers set out to take down elements of the kor'kron blockade out at sea. Even with the attacks on the FSB and the NB, however, the blockade was well-coordinated and able to repel the assault, though a few ships have been forced to withdraw to Bilgewater Harbor for repairs. The rest of the fleet has begun to break up following the destruction of the naval base, though it may still be possible to take down a few of the ships before they withdraw completely.

Key intel was recovered from both land locations, though it will take the Alliance some time to decrypt and translate it. This information could greatly assist the Alliance's efforts in Southern Barrens, and may even be of use to the Rebellion. Admiral Deadmane is still at large, however, and may yet prove to be a threat to the Alliance--and perhaps the Rebellion as well.

Now the Alliance turns its eye south, towards retaking its lost territory. It is not yet prepared to move, however, as it waits on repairs of damaged planes and steam tanks and shipments of oil and gas from the Alliance's holdings in Stonetalon. These shipments, moving through the dangerous Overgrowth, will be prime targets for raids from hostile groups like the Blood Wolves, who have already carried out several hit and run attacks on Alliance forces.

Alliance Underworld

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

In the depths beneath Ironforge the underworld is booming. The Black Market of the Underforge, the lowest and forgotten level of the Ironforge, gathers week by week more merchants around the world. All manner of illegal tomes, goods, exotic teas and magical equipment changes owner weekly. By that, the rate of crime is on a steady rise on the major cities.

World Events
The Siege of Orgrimmar has begun. Late Saturday evening, the combined 3rd and 7th Fleets of the Alliance Navy set sail from Valiance Keep, destined for Orgrimmar. Above the fleets fly the gunships Skyfire and Northshire, along with their escort aircraft. The plan is simple. The 7th Fleet, carrying thousands of 7th Legionnaires in its multitude of transport vessels, will make a beach landing on the eastern coast of Durotar before regrouping at Northwatch Hold. Meanwhile, the 3rd Fleet, comprised of some of the Alliance's most powerful warships, will sail ahead to provide naval escort to the 7th's precious transports. The fleets will drive south through the main Horde fleet outside of Azshara, which is in dissaray after the capture of Bilgewater Harbor by rebel forces under General Rargnasha Bloodmark.

Contact with the enemy is made on Tuesday morning, off the eastern coast of Azshara, as the main Horde fleet intercepts the advance Alliance 3rd Fleet. The Horde fleet is under the command of Admiral Krulkar Deadmane, an orc that escaped the Alliance's clutches after the breaking of the blockade around Northwatch Hold. Deadmane has sworn to see the Alliance fleets crushed and Bilgewater retaken for Garrosh Hellscream at any cost, and is willing to use whatever methods he can to achieve victory. Cannonfire can be heard from as far as Bilgewater itself, as Deadmane's fleet and the Alliance 3rd Fleet begin trading blows on the open sea.

South of Orgrimmar, the rebel forces under Vol'jin begin making their moves. With their position now secured and well-supplied for an extended siege, they have moved to cut off Durotar from the remaining kor'kron outposts in the Barrens, and have begun marching their armies north to engage General Nazgrim's forces at Orgrimmar's walls. Naval forces from both Silvermoon and Undercity are also en route to Durotar, preparing to join the landing with their Alliance allies.

Meanwhile, Garrosh Hellscream has made a visit to his mine in the Vale of Eternal Blossoms in Pandaria, intent on acquiring his new prize from the depths of the Vale's dark heart. He is confident that its power will enable him to fend off all incursions on his territory. The Shado-Pan and the Golden Lotus have moved to stop him from unleashing this great evil onto Azeroth, but it is unlikely that they will succeed...

Heralds are sent all across the great Kingdom of Khaz Modan, travelling with the swiftness of the gryphons, rams and tanks all throughout the lands of the great Union, the message is distributed and spread notoriously quickly

Citizens, workers, soldiers - Attention all!

Four years have passed since King Magni Bronzebeard, in all his eternal wisdom decided to expand the Senate of Ironforge into something bigger than a mere collection of individuals, but a fully functioning advisory body. Since then, we have come a long way, bringing around many changes to the great Union of Khaz Modan. But the time of the Senate is not over yet, the fourth year marks an important turn of events, namely the war in Kalimdor.

The Senate shall return to full activity on the 12th day of the 9th month and resume the activities that it left off, accepting the pleas of the citizens and dilligently helping the Council of The Three Hammers in reaching their final decisions. Khaz Modan has always been a large and great land, becoming only larger and greater as the Three Clans united once again, all calling Ironforge their capital where their cultures and traditions melded.

Come one come all, for it is open to the Senate, we gather at the Mystic Ward for a ceremonial blessing and a reading of the omens before collectively making way towards the Library where the grand re-opening shall commence.

Prosperity and power to Khaz Modan.
Deputy-Senator Firebeard.

World Events
In his quest for ever-greater power, Garrosh Hellscream has unearthed the heart of an Old God from deep beneath the Vale of Eternal Blossoms. Though the Shado-Pan attempted to intervene, they were too late to stop Hellscream from using the Vale's blessed waters to empower the evil artifact. This act has unleashed great destruction across the Vale, and finally awakened the Sha of Pride from its slumber.

Garrosh has taken the heart back to Orgrimmar. In his wake, survivors flee to to the Alliance and Horde Shrines and to Mistfall Village, which survived the devastation. Some organizations, such as the Blooming Lotus Society and the Alliance 157th "Wild Tempest" Company, and even the Black Hand, have journeyed to the Vale to find out exactly what happened...

Quarantine

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

The rapid response of the Senate of Ironforge was something that surprised the Cultists leading the foray into Khaz Modan. The city has become a hive of activity as the amount of guards has been increased and shifts have been made longer, all entry and exit points into the city are now closely monitored, strange and dubious individuals are questioned and asked for papers and other documents of identification.

No doubt that once news of this minor quarantine reaches other townships, villages and cities within the Kingdom of Khaz Modan a certain panic might begin and more may begin flocking to the safety of Ironforge. Though could overpopulation be their final damnation?

Marshal Law

In lieu of the essentially the loss of a part of the territory within the Northern Wetlands, the Senate has passed a resolution unanimously to introduce Martial Law, effective immediately to the Northern Wetlands. The Martial Law is introduced in order to combat the Scourge menace that has gripped the land. It will be enforced by Khaz Modans Second Battle Legion which accounts for almost a quarter of the entire armed forces.
