Forum Guidelines

1. Here at DefiasRP we aim to have discussions and debates surrounding many subjects (RP or otherwise) and understand that at times these discussions can become heated. We would ask that discussions remain civil at the best of times, with all criticism given in a constructive manner.

What you can expect from a moderator: If a discussion has become heated and the various participants resort to mud-slinging and insults, a moderator will step in and attempt to quell such acts. This can be anything from a simple post, asking those involved to calm down, a clean up of a thread or a simple lock if the moderator deems the "subject" closed.

If a moderator has simply posted and asked people to calm down and people persist, or openly attack the moderator for his/her post, these individuals will be contacted via PM and potentially given a warning if the situation requires it.

The OP of any thread can contact said moderator to discuss a re-opening of the thread if he/she desires such.

---

2. Not everyone gets along and the staff of DefiasRP do not expect that to change. However, what we would ask of each member of the community is that any personal disputes are resolved via the PM system.

What you can expect from a moderator: If a string of posts appear where two or more members begin arguing for reasons unrelated to the thread subject, or it is perfectly obvious that there are issues between these people, a moderator will step in. Initially this will be a post asking the people involved to disperse the argument and take their issues into private to resolve them. If this persists, a moderator may choose to clean up the thread and message each individual involved to inform them of the clean up.

Warnings will be given if people continue to argue in public after having been directed to take it into whispers/PM.

---

3. If at any time a member feels they've been wrongly accused or given a warning they did not deserve, there are two options that can be taken.

- You can contact the moderator in question and discuss the matter with them. If the two of you can resolve the matter, brilliant!

- You can contact another member of the moderating team and discuss the matter with them in an effort to resolve the issue. You can take this step first, or as the second step if you cannot resolve the matter with the moderator in question.

---

4. We ask that any member of the community refrains from spamming, flaming and the like. We understand that sometimes it can be difficult to step back from confrontation, which results in the above type of posting, but we would ask that you think before you post.

What you can expect from a moderator: A moderator will step in and call for a cease of spamming, flaming and any bad attitude that is being thrown around. There are no exceptions here, this forum is first and foremost about community. In the case of spamming, a moderator will call for it to stop and clean up the thread if deeming it a requirement. Users that have their posts deleted due to spam will be informed through PM. Where the bad attitude is concerned, a moderator will contact the person(s) in question and talk to them.

A warning may be given depending on the severity of the situation.

---

5. The posting of pornographic material or otherwise inappropriate content is strictly forbidden on these forums. Not everyone in this community is over the age of 18, nor do all people of appropriate ages wish to see such content on this forum.

What you can expect from a moderator: If a member is found to be posting inappropriate content, their post or thread will be immediately deleted. The user in question will be given an immediate temporary ban spanning 30 days. No exceptions.

---

6. We understand that the locking of topics can be frustrating for members in the middle of a discussion. However, topics will be locked if above rules are broken.

- A moderator will always explain the reason for a permanent lock.

- A moderator will occasionally lock a thread to perform a clean up. This is to prevent further posts from mounting up during this process. A moderator will explain their actions upon locking/re-opening the thread.

- A moderator will lock a thread at the OP's request.

- A moderator will be on hand to discuss the locking of a thread with it's OP through PM. A discussion can be had if the OP wishes to have the thread opened again.

---

7 While the staff of DefiasRP do not own the forum, it is requested that people respect these guidelines we've put in place. Not a single member of staff seeks to remove people from this forum, nor do they wish to be accosted for doing what has been asked of them. Please respect these forum guidelines and do your best to follow them. Any issues with anything concerning the forum can be directed to any member of staff via the PM system. Most of the moderators have their characters listed in their forum signatures, if you need something resolved quickly there is the option of contacting them in-game.

Special note: Not all moderators wish to be contacted in-game, so please do not take it the wrong way if you're asked to leave them a PM. Everyone needs some down time.

---

8 With the recent changes to the registration process, it has been made easier for any user to create multiple accounts. We ask that you contact us (Via PM or in-game) to discuss your reasons for wanting a second account and we'll decide whether we believe that to be justified. Any double accounts that are created will be deleted without any contact at all.

Warning And Ban System

Here at DefiasRP we work on a warning and eventual ban system for persistant disruption of the community. We decided it was sensible to add this system to this post so you might have a better understanding of how we staff members look at things.

We operate on a "Three warnings = Ban" system. These bans are temporary, the first results in a two week forum wide ban of your account. Upon your return you'll be given full access and everything will remain as normal. The fact you've received these warnings and the eventual ban will be recorded. If you manage to rack up another three warnings, you will be banned again. This time the ban will be for a period of one month.

From there on out, we will repeat this process and add two weeks to your temporary ban each time.

Special Note: We reserve the right to hand a temporary ban to a member if they do something particularly bad. This can be anything from openly attacking another member at length, deletion of threads not belonging to you in any section you might moderate or posting inappropriate material.

Though we hope never to use permanent bans again, we also reserve the right to hand one out for particularly unrelenting members who simply seek to disrupt the forum.

It's our hope that we won't have to use this system much in the future, but we felt it was best you were all aware of how we operate. Obviously you will incur warnings depending on what section of the forum guidelines you have gone against.

Above are the new forum guidelines we've put in place as of today. Any warnings you've received prior to this moment have been wiped.

I'm going to be locking this thread, so everyone can find these guidelines easily and clearly. If you wish to discuss anything contained in the above post, do not hesitate to PM myself or any other moderator.

Thank you!
