Greetings, DB! Whitestar is starting a new project, a raiding coalition! DB has many guilds that only RP, but that doesn't mean all their members are RPers only. This is why we want to present an idea: that you could apply to a "raiding guild out of the guild", or rather, an organisation of people that have organised PvE events together.


In character, <Whitestar> is similar to a “charitable association”, like “Doctors without Borders”or “Greenpeace” …something a little bit like that. Like this, we have the "management / organizing" core, which is Whitestar, and the volunteers, which will be the coalition members.




The purpose

25 man raiding in Icecrown Citadel and beyond, in character. We want a serious group of players that are motivated to play and perform together, and also to have an enjoyable RP experience at the same time. We want to be able to offer the same conditions as a seasoned raiding guild would have, without having to force people to leave their own, smaller RP guilds, for example.



How will it work??

The Whitestar raiding coalition will not be an alliance between guilds! To join the coalition, you need to apply on individual basis.
Why? This is not to be mean or elitist, but simply to preserve a roster of quality. If <Whitestar> was allied, let’s say with 3 other guilds, as we can not control the recruitment of others guilds, we could be almost certain to have a huge imbalance between classes, and have for example too much warrior and paladin, and too few mages and shaman. This would not be positive for the quality of the raid, nor for the players which will have to share their spot and spend lots of time on standby.



Guild and Coalition, how to be fair ?

Our purpose is not to use the coalition for our own guild benefit. Everyone will be equally considered, and <Whitestar> members will not be prioritized in any way before the others.
Obviously, as we have already our own 10-man roster, we will start to recruit what Whitestar itself is lacking for a 25-man raid (for example, we're nicely covered with tanks, so we'll start recruiting DPS / Healers instead).
Imagine the Coalition as an extension of <Whitestar> in a positive way. Like I said above, in a charitable association, you have the “organisation core” and all around the benevolent volunteers that has agreed to help. The benevolent are a part of the association but they have their own life, their own job, and just share their time for special events. It will be the same: we will gather <Whitestar> members + others as a whole 1 day by week for a nice 25man raid.




Raiding, more info

1. We will start with ToC and maybe Ulduar. ToC for the gear, Ulduar for the team work.
Team work is the key for a nice raid progression.

2. We will start with 1 raid /week. A vote will be open before we launch the Coalition to choose the day.

3. Till we are not in ICC, the loot system will be greed/need/de. Main spec, and main char in the coalition* will have priority over off spec and alt.

We will also discuss and plan to have some sort of IC loot system in the future.

4. We will recruit a roster of + / - 30 active players. This way we have 25 persons and 5 persons as replacements. This, to avoid too much “rotation”. If 30 players are not enough to have a proper raid every week, we might recruit a couple more.
For raid invites, the player which is needed the most will be invited first, not the one who signed first. In case of hesitation between two players, the first signed will be confirmed.

5. We will use the <Whitestar> forum for any discussion concerning the Coalition.


* It has no importance if you apply for the coalition with an alt character. The spec and the character with whom you apply in the coalition will be considered as your main for coalition purposes.

Any other boss for that matter..

Like Gogol just said, it isn't really going to work IC especially when raids are so Horde/Alliance centralised like the Gunship battle for instance.

No, we will not claim to have kill Arthas and announce it on all forum. Nor name any boss.
But if we can not RP while raiding, or questing or whatever, there is no point to RP at all. Because WOW is before everything quest, dungeon and battleground. There is nice quest line and a lot of Lore about it. So for me, RP should also be focused there : in everything already existing in the game.

Yes yes I agree with you but it's how I personaly choose to focus my role play (I've done enough voodoo ceremonies, love stories, and defending Astranaar with elf regiment to desire now something more in relation with what i prefer do in the game : raiding) and it's the concept I propose for those who wish to experiment the same : mix RP and raiding together.

And i think this will interest a lot of poeple !

Just pretend that the bosses got another name, that's what we do.

We did a RP raid into Blackwing Lair and called Nefarian, Dragon King instead. XD
