Re: The vent thread
De-nationalising: Increases Competition, which decreases prices for consumers!
Bullshit, it increases profits. It does nothing for us consumers.
Dont get me started, this happened in the UK too with the same result. When they first privatised the rail system the companies got 10 years behind on track service too.

This is true, if people have a choice. With the railroad, we don't. If I want to go to Utrecht, I can only take the NS from my house. It's that, or a bus which takes at least twice as long... so there is no competition, the only train I can take here in Holland(province) is the NS.
But if you have a choice, it does help. I think the Fyra(Amsterdam - Breda, not the Amsterdam - Brussels one) is the example. Nobody takes the Fyra for two reasons. One, the extra money(2.50 really seems like a mayor drawback for most, as I prefer it because I'm just cruising and don't stop every now and then) and two, the bad name. Nobody can guarantee you'll actually get there 25 minutes earlier.. It's trustworthy now, but there are again problems with the second Fyra line...
That was me protecting the free market, and my complains of the NS at the same time! Or Pro-Rail... whoever you wish to blame.
Oh, and there isn't any love between the two companies for ages now... I think even the creation from Night Elves to now was shorter than those two actually liking one another.
EDIT: In other news... damn you Mega! You don't work with Chrome -at all-. >.> I can't upload the video I made! >.>
At least it works in Firefox....

Hey aisling,
remember the marketisation of Dentist prices? Remember the prices going down there?
No, everyone simply upped the prices. year by year >.> and dentists bought Audi's.
What about the Health-insurance system? Do you see the prices going down there?
I'm not saying that governments wouldn't increase the prices. I'm saying the idea that: Competition - drives prices down, is bullshit. And we should stop selling bs-line.
De-nationalisation, makes companies attempt to maximise their profit - which could include the lowering of prices, but that's the last option on their list. Especially when we're dealing with necessities.
nobodies first reaction to the question: How do we get more money?
'Well! we'll decrease the price of the product!'

Re: The vent thread
I'm in favour for free market, with the exception for health issues. Not because it's getting out of hand with the costs(because you cannot rule out the factor of a population getting older), but because there is too little to choose from.
The power of free market isn't low prices. It could be one of the perks indeed, but that's not what free market is about. If you want to sell, how do you do that? Do you go to a cheap gym, or pay more for a gym with a pool.
So I am in favour of a free market. But the traintracks aren't "free", and health issues shouldn't do so as well.
I have no idea as to why the dentist got more expensive, but I refuse to believe that that is because of cartel and greed. There has to be more to it. Maybe naive, but that's how I feel.

The notaries screaming for price regulations to keep their business viable would beg to differ.

And yet that is the byline everyone feeds the public as to why denationalising things is good. from politicians, to economists, to idiots.
By denationalising things, you create competition, and through competition you get lower prices. Which is why its good to do it!
I don't care what you believe, but that is the line we're being told. It is simply unequivocal bullshit. As every single example has shown.

Here's the rapport: http://www.vgz.nl/sitecollectiondocuments/2012/mondzorg-rapport.pdf
you cannot honestly tell me, that an average increase of 10%, after dentists were given the ability to control their own pricings (to increase competition, and thus increase the quality, price and care of the dentistry), Makes any sense, while we're dealing with a 2.5% inflation rate.
I'm not saying its cartel forming, but dentists aren't stupid. If there are only three dentists in a village and all three of them are full, why the fuck would they decrease their prices? Heck, since increasing them won't see any decline in their customer bases anyhow.

...
Evidently, being an introvert by nature is about to make me get "FAIL" on my internship, effectively ending my education.
This piece of information, along with tips on how I might be able to avoid that situation, was given to me.... exactly 9 shifts before the internship ends. Not even a single implication or warning before this point.
I just don't know how to feel about that. Not at all. Just trapped in this weird cross-over between frustrated rage and giving up.
Fuck this. Fuck me. Fuck the whole world and everyone in it.

Re: The vent thread
Read those tips, and use them for the last 9 shifts. You've got really nothing to lose. Strap in there man.
The thing about feedback you have to actively ask for it, or you won't be getting it. Because nobody likes being critical to otherpeople and making other people feel potentially bad, sothey tend to avoid that, until its too late.
but in your case you still have 9 shifts to go! So act on those tips!

Re: The vent thread
Two choices buddy, Fight back or fold. You have 9 shifts and you know from the tips what you need to show that you can do. So stand up and make it happen. Rage is nothing more than frustrated anger, do not rage, it does nothing. Instead go and win.
Say to yourself Fuck being an introvert and fuck failing, I will win.
(good luck buddy)

Kidding aside, I'm going to heed the advice, and soldier on till the end, I just hope it will be enough.
