Antistia has by far won this one simply by using reliable sources and common sense. Try it, lads, it might win you an argument.
The weight of your statement relies heavily on the assumption that the nature of our discussion was the sort that was actually trying to find a winner rather than just 4 people fucking about.
Also, the only reason you're being "that douchebag judge" is that Anti is defending the country you're from, so lol.

Surely you must understand that I am not biased in this matter. For years I idealised the United Kingdom.

I have about 20 books about the British Empire in my house (In fact, I have books about pretty much every period of history!) I am too busy to go through sources and link all of the things the British Empire has brought to the modern world (use the internet and you can find it anywhere). Maybe tomorrow!Lorainne/Bridlington wrote:Even drunk I dare say that the only person making sense in this thread is Antistia. Vaell, Ixirar and Lexgrad, you're all thick as shite.

Coming from a 15 year old estrogen filled boy, this isn't really an insult. It is like an aborted foetus calling a newborn baby ugly.

Superb comeback. Bravo. However, I don't doubt what the British Empire has brought to the the modern world, I simply doubt what you claim about The Netherlands. Moreover, I'll be waiting to see those sources.
And why did you have to offend me after I offended you? That's not nice at all!

Re: The vent thread
Just for a little history lesson. I'm sure on what the Dutch truly did but I can assure you that the British brought industrilisation to China, Austrailia, USA, India, Canada and many smaller countries. Two of which are considered the superpowers of the world, from the seed the British Empire planted. They conquered. That is why Britain has such a powerful and rich history. No other nation, country or army had ever conquered as much as the British Empire and none still have to this day. They held India with 220k men, which actually was one of the strong inspirations for Hitler - but lets not go down that road! Our enemy was vast and dominating. Austrailia, Canada and USA were populated by us. Yes, the French did play a part in Canada but in terms of modernising the world - the British Empire did just that. I'll speak to my dad and get the sources, he knows pretty much every detail of post A.D history so I'll find credible sources if I reeeeally have to but I'd much prefer you just google what I've said, you'll find loads of pages.
Wern't the dutch occupied by Spain till the 1600s? Just saying...
EDIT: And I'll always be weary of what a Dutchman says. As the old saying goes, never trust a Dutchman - they'll always stab you in the back!
EDIT#2: So what I'm saying, is no matter where this goes. I'd beat you in a fight!!

And you pretty much always had a french king, or a german one. *shrugs*
What england might've achieved in the past is no small feat, but it's no use putting feathers in your own butt for it now.

Re: The vent thread
We actually have a rich history of being occupied by Spain. But no, we were at war with Spain for 80 years, starting in the late 1500s and formally got our independence in 1648 due to the peace of Westphalia. I think we were already experiencing our golden age by then.
I like to think we did pretty well. Some lousy backwater province fighting the europe's strongest power (at the time iirc), all the while becoming one of europe's premier powers itself, with massive amounts of wealth.
Also, on a sidenote, one stretches the definition of superpower when one considers China to be one.

Re: The vent thread
Bollocks to the lot of you.
England? Groovy. We convinced the world they needed us. Then we fucked them up the arse and smiled and had a cup of cha'. Nothing says Britian like buggery and tea, after all.
And I say this as a true...
Yorkshire Pikey.
I'll steal your silver and kidnap your daughter, but at least we gave you an emperor of Rome (just for Anti... we did, kinda), the Brontes and Jimmy Saville...
Oh... right.

What is even going on in here?
While you guys are all busy having an argument, I'm just going to throw on some woad paint and dance naked under the moonlight.

Re: The vent thread
Really disgusted with the staff at a local petrol station near me, I went there for my usual coffee before work to find a man sitting on the floor, slumped, with a syringe next to him, the staff had been laughing at him for about ten minates, they assumed he was drunk and did nothing about it, I tried to see if he was ok, he was not breathing and had no pulse so I called an ambulance, they turned up pretty quickly but the person had been dead for to long. There was heroine needles all over the toilets apparantly.
Now I know a heroine addict should expect the conciquence of the drug but I cannot see how staff in a petrol station can just laugh at a dead body assuming he was drunk without even checking anything... Disgusting imo.

An addict is still a person. You're right, yes, it's disgusting.
That sounds truly horrible. I can imagine you're shaken, and angry. You definitely did the right thing, not that it "means much".
