Amen, brother!Thelos wrote:Coppersocket wrote:You're ignoring the fact that for most characters it will simply not make sense for them to venture into Pandaria, they have obligations, priorities, duties, elsewhere.
Then you make a new character or change your character so that it does make sense.
Honestly, I don't like it when I see people limiting their gameplay based on the perspective of their character. I much prefer to ask myself what a player needs and wants to get out of the game. I know that this player is going to want to enjoy Pandaria to the fullest, so he'll need a suitable character for it, i.e a panda.

Re: MoP on Defias
I would love to see Rp move to Pandaria especially when the war moves there in 5.1. Also, if people are concerned about ganking, well its time to start gettin' peeveepee gear
This. Pandaria is a War-zone, so....
[IC:]
1: Practice your moves, work up your body, study your spellbooks, pray your deities.
2: Repair and replace broken equipment, acquire new armor, fill the ammunition, clean your guns, write your combat-spellbooks.
3: Sharpen your weapons, polish your armor, oil the leather, memorize the spells.
4: And you're ready for War.
[OOC:]
1: Run battlegrounds and other PvP activities for Honor.
2: Use the Honor points to buy new kind of Armor.
3: Buy enchants, gems, glyphs and study PvP tactics.
4: PvP is a part of this world, whenever you like it or not. The War is between two factions, and not civil-war against cultism with emote fights. It will be a brutal slaughter with no real winners.
Over the course of MoP, Campaigns will most likely be arranged. Those Guild and people who spend time to practice and prepare (oocly preparing for PvP) will be more effective fighters than those who did not practice IC. I look myself forward of seeing Guild groups going IC practice and queue for PvP, as a unit of their own.
That leads to what we call Rp-PvP, not RP-pvp or rp-PVP.
---
Of course there is room for Non-fighters. Engineers, peons, priests to bury the fallen and fools seeking their fortune of the strange land, but all must remember.
That land is a War-zone.
(Treat PvP as IC attack by beasts, air-bombardment or a hunting group of < insertenemyhere >)

I disagree with you Thelos, but this is not the place for that discussion.
Hmm, I'll just wait and see if there's going to be reason for any of my characters to go to Pandaria or not. If not, there's other aspects of this game and other games I can enjoy.

You counter your own arguement.
1. A roleplayer should know not to mix OOC with IC, and that is what it is to do, you think to yourself "I want to play ICly on Pandaria so I will make unreasonable changes to my character". Just no. Never.
2. Yes, one can make a new character to achieve this, but that's entirely besides the topic of "changing your character to do it", which was the topic the last few posts!

Re: MoP on Defias
Depends what your rp is.
The Thorn rp will be around distrust of the Pandarians, seeing the Horde ones as spies for the Alliance ones so not to be trusted (or allowed in Thorn colours). This also gives us reason to go slaughter the Alliance ones too of course. Our trusted Troll Sticcaback has already had visions of impending influx of such weird beasts and warned us not to trust them
MoP? Bring it on!

2) Pandaria looks like fun.
3) I change my play to accommodate the primary directive; to have fun.
If you are not interested in exploring pandaria that is perfectly fine, of course, but don't tell people off that do want to have that experience, in whatever way they see fit. Even the most humble farmer could get a story that drives him to pandaria. "Well shit, some orcs pillaged my farm. I hear there's a brand new continent with new shit! I've got nothing to loose! Let's go!"

Again. See 2.
I don't say I don't want to explore it, nor that I won't.
But that's me, isn't it? I'm not my char, my char is not me. Many of my chars have various reasons not to want to go there.
If I want to go there, I will find or make a char that suits it, not alter a character for ooc desires.

A good point. Especially the farmer part. If Rp wouldn't be fun no one would do it. Sure there ain't no problem to Rp in Pandaland, but even a farmer would go there at least prepared in some way. *Grabs rifle* Or cultists and rogues and so on looking for new knowledge and explorers artifacts and treasure hunters and
Pandaland is like America, Pandas are like Indians.... Ok i'm not gonna say who is French and who is British... You get my point!

No, I did not, because I do not accept (1), nor have I ever, nor will I ever.
To clarify, I consider my characters to be puppets or toys. When my toys no longer give me enjoyment, I will either discard them or change them. Like for example how I have been retconning Thelos his age ever few months, bumping him up, because other draenei were acting a little childish compared to him, which made it feel wrong to be younger than them. So, I made him older, because it made the character more enjoyable for me. Toy fixed.

Re: MoP on Defias
After finally exiting the well Bernard heard off Pandaria and decided it was time to pull his amputated ass down there to discover the very fanicly decorated wells he heard talk about! The fact that Pandarean urine is rumored to be slightly alcoholic in nature was only a extra motivational boost for the aging gentleman.Feydor wrote:An aging quadruple amputee named Bernard who has been stuck down a well in the trade district for 37 years living off water, mold and urine. This is so silly. I thought DB RP meant make the biggest bad ass you can and now you want to avoid the forth war? Dude unreasonable change to make a small ic story of how or why you went to panda land. Maybe you are a part of a militia, job done. Is that really "Just no. Never".
Each to their own I guess, I cant wait to RP the war.
