Webdesign opinions asked!
Hello!
I am designing the website for my guild, The Farstriders, tho before I start coding it I would like to have some opinions of you guys.
(Also, feel free to move this thread if I posted it in the wrong forum.)
The design for now (click to enlarge);
Feel free to point out positive -AND- negative things.
~Thalaran.

Re: Webdesign opinions asked!
One thing. Personally, I don't like when websites have a background featuring a character and most parts, except some, of the character is covered by the "boxes". But that's just me. But the background image is beautiful ^-^ and you arranged the "boxes" just as I would want it to be
Re: Webdesign opinions asked!
Alternative for a background picture? It's really hard to find such backgrounds, I've been doing youtube backgrounds for 2 years so I would know. And my suggestion is that you find a couple of characters that you want in the background and then edit them together into one picture. Of course, it requires some skill to do so and without making it look too "novice". Especially drawn pictures. Real life picture are very easy to edit together, but drawn pictures can be tough sometimes.
But the one you have is absolutely lovely. I would say that you should use it if you don't want to go through the trouble making a background yourself or finding someone who will.

Re: Webdesign opinions asked!
And another idea is to have the boxes at the current transparency, or atleast under 80%. Then the background would still be visible But that's up to you of course

I tried to google some Belf Farstriders art, but the most images are Belf paladins and/or magisters. So this is one of the only "farstrider/hunter" pictures I could find.
As for the boxes, their transparency is currently 67%. Do you think they should be more transparent?
Re: Webdesign opinions asked!
I have to agree on the entire one character in the background comment... It doesnt make the forum for your guild to seem to be about your guild, but about you (As that is the "message" it sends) ^_^ A beautiful picture but.. "You are not the guild, the guild is the guild" - Even if it may not be a picture of your character its kind of how it "comes off" ^^ So head out on the glorious net once more until you find a picture that is less one character focused if anything ^^ Or just make a more "clean" background?^^
Re: Webdesign opinions asked!
And I say clean background with the intent of you then finding a smaller picture to use as a headder, in stead of having a big background picture^^
Re: Webdesign opinions asked!
Or... You can take a screenie of a place up in Eversong Forests, edit it a bit maybe decreasing contrast, and voila. Perfect, clean, non-self-fixated background. *Bows and awaits the applause*

I understand, but the colorscheme is blue.
Re: Webdesign opinions asked!
There's numerous ways to change the color of something or simply add a, so called, color correction. I normally do this on all my screenies/IRL photos/youtubebackground etc, to give it that slight eyefriendly shade.
Re: Webdesign opinions asked!
For example, here's a picture color corrected to a more eyefriendly blue color.
