I have a problem with the title
"Real life people" - you mean offline people!! I am still a "real life" person just behind a computer

Are you? Are you certain? I mean... I can't see you, so I can't guarantee you are.

Well, people. Really. If someone doesn't like you gaming, then why do you take that shit from them? I understand if you have to keep a friendly face professionally, but pissing on a hobby isn't something a friend should do.
I can understand people taking it easier with games and such in a relationship, but that's because you need to take moderation into it, and girls who 'don't date people who play WoW' are playing on stereotypes, and you simply have to show them that they assumed wrong about you.

I bet you're that kinda guy that mock and bully people who admitt to playing WoW, 'cause you're so real life and they're so WoW people. But in truth you sit here with us while eating junk to comfort yourself and crying yourself to sleep.

Good point ... I suppose nobody can be sure of anyone's existence for all I know you're all just figments of my overactive imagination. I as a person of actual material substance may not exist but I AT THE VERY LEAST deserve to have a fundamental and elementary existence recognized

Fuck that, grab the nearest loose object and challange the biggest viking you can see.
If you are going to go, go Valhalla.
Fuck that, our school priest said that i will go to hell cause i wasn't baptised xD
But on the other side, i don't have many gamer friends, my current bf played wow for some time but then he quit it, the rest of them don't even play wow and let alone rp. Yes they know that i play it, but getting called a "nerd" is the smallest problem i have from other people. Called so many other names that i don't really give much fuck will some one call me a "nerd" or a satanist whore.

Well it's not like anyone playing WoW is in some sort of minority group- quite the opposite, unlike some other "game" I know.
(Look at you EVE, yeah... "Game", more like second job.)

They're like you, Shae. They think her choice of music (and the way she dress, which is influenced by her music) makes her a satanist and whore.
I hope you feel ashamed of yourself now Shae, you fanatical muslim.
Just joking Shae, you shouldn't feel bad, but from what Morg told me, that is her situation yes.

Coming out of the closet is easier than saying your play World of Warcraft.
I have a feeling you completely misunderstood the point I was trying to make...
Also, like Quin, I don't really find much joy in talking about video games to my RL friends because they're all noobs so they bore me to death with their "omg I totally just completed deadmines with no wipes" and related stories.
So I end up being the condescending wiz kid asshole anyways. I guess that's why I have so few friends that I like hanging out with.

Btw I do not think any of us should be allowed into hell... because I predict a group of WoW players will go there and it will take two weeks for them to sort out the tactics, get a youtube vid up and take realm first.
We WILL pwn whoever runs hell and make off with epic loots!!

Re: WoW And Real Life People
My few friends all know I play a shit ton of vidja games. They also know that I was never all that talkative while at school, from they day they met me. So they know that I'd prefer to spend my nights with either a couple of people watching movies, or snuggled down alone playing my games. Too many people in one place confuses and annoys me, and I dislike the atmosphere of it all.
They don't class me as a geek, just an exceptionally reserved person.

Re: WoW And Real Life People
At my school CoD, Skyrim and other PlayStation games are socially acceptable, cool and can make you popular whilst WoW is a huge no-no and 'the most nerdy, gay game ever'.
No one knows I play- my good friends knew I used to play as back then it was popular. Then one night, it stopped being cool and everyone either quit or pretended to like me.
So no-one knows I play WoW and probablly no-one shall! They do know I game however which has actually gotten me more popular somehow.

School put me into a weird position where I was too nerdy for normal people, but not nerdy enough for the really gamer-y people in my year

Re: WoW And Real Life People
My stance on this is like: "What do I care what other people think?"
I don't go around saying "Hey, I'm a gamer!" to everyone, but if someone asks what do I do during my spare time or something like that, I won't hide it. If they don't like it, no matter. Then they're not really my kind of people. Generally people do not mind (openly at least), but for example my dad's girlfriend is convinced that I will become the next Breivik purely because I play wow.

Re: WoW And Real Life People
I dislike that having played/playing WoW apparently has to define 'who you are' hence i avoid it. Although gaming is entirely different. It's my guilty pleasure. I enjoy it on my own and I don't want anyone playing with me or talking to me about it. I'm not a social gamer.
When I go out, I don't want to play video games with other people. I can do that on my own. I want them to see me without my guilty pleasure, not because I fear their judgement. I just don't need it around me.
I'm not judging people who do play video games with their friends and who wish to talk about it. It's a choice. I made mine

5 years ago when I was in our version of college, I was in the "cool crowd", the guys in the social sciences program. The other guys went to parties and did sports and all that more than me, but guess what, they still talked about gaming and going to LANs. Times they are a'changin'. Life's too short for pretending to be someone you're not, or hanging out with people that don't respect you for doing what you enjoy.

I agree with that, I do. But unfortunately most people (that I know - maybe I'm old, oho) still don't really understand what roleplay is. So it's a great deal of effort to explain the mere basics, and the person is sitting there looking at you oddly because in the first place you admitted to playing WoW and in the second place because you, I dunno, do kids' stuff (pretending to be a character in a fantasy game whaaaaaat?). It's just not always worth it to me to explain - unless I'm asked particularly, and then I'm happy to wax on at length about my characters eheheh.
