The two seconds:
Pick the place of the dual (field of honor).
Check that the weapons are equal and make sure the duel was fair.

Also:
Unusual duelsIn 1808, two Frenchmen are said to have fought in balloons over Paris, each attempting to shoot and puncture the other's balloon; one duellist is said to have been shot down and killed with his second.[10]

In 1843, two other Frenchmen are said to have fought a duel by means of throwing billiard balls at each other.[10]

In the 1860s, Otto von Bismarck was reported to have challenged Rudolf Virchow to a duel. Virchow, being entitled to choose the weapons, chose two pork sausages, one infected with the roundworm Trichinella; the two would each choose and eat a sausage. Bismarck reportedly declined.[11] The story could be apocryphal, however.[12]

So, who issued the challenge, it would be proper that the other side picks the weapons. Silliest choice of weapon wins!

dunno there be no more magistrates willing to command people to death and/or hand lopping off XD thus the theory dictates sw cannot afford to loose its only magistrate thus it makes ic sense ti fix the match and drug the witch before the fight begins XD

There's still Velspeth, plus the state would not fix the duel. Perhaps it makes IC sense for your character to believe that to be the case? For all that you know about my character OOC he could be very honor bound in these situations.

I'd say most people would think its fixed. The Grand Magistrate risking his life for a mere criminal? Even if she was about to strike the killing blow someone would step in!

So the derp-law about duels of any kind being illegal (even for nobles) was removed then?

Oh wait, I guess it was never a law, just a random, made up on the spot rule to restrict our RP.

If you are refering to the Helmsley duel it was approved by the Magistry eventually aswell, there was just some "beauracracy" for political reasons.

With this in mind I should totally write up a draft for proper laws/rules of conduct concerning duelling so that we wont have further issues with it. Thanks for pointing it out.
