Plastered on all notice boards and placed in every tavern of the city is posters marked with the Seal of House Mistmantle:



[A] Trial by combat Stormwind_64

The murderer and witch known as Renatha Malenie Vanimedle has been caught and the right to trial by combat has been called upon for crimes against the noble House of Mistmantle. Baron Braiden Arthur Bernard Mistmantle himself will face the vile woman in a duel to the very death on the eve of the 17th day of the fourth month at the eigth toll of the bell in the evening.

Location is yet to be set. This will happen before the council meeting on Tuesday.

It's a privilege for nobility (since both the combatants are nobility) and it's for crimes against Braidens house. All other crimes will still be trialed... provided she lives Cool

The good Baron is a mage anyhow, he would have a shot even then... but it's the "rapiers at dawn" (or well dusk) style of duel. Classy stuff.

I always had the impression that seconds would have to step in if one of the parties chickened out aswell.. or maybe they'll just shoot eachother for good measure...

5.4. The Role of Seconds
One of the most important aspects of dueling was the presence of seconds. These
men were chosen by the duelists, and played a role from the beginning to the end
of a duel. All communication and negotiation was done between the seconds, not
the duelists. Weapons were inspected and armed (if pistols) by seconds. Social
historians often contend the role of seconds was little more than ceremony allowing
the aristocracy to view dueling as less barbaric and above the mere brawl of the
