[A] Great Sea Buccaneers - RP-PVPirates!
((Long post and cheap 'Ye Olde' looking graphics inc!))
**UPDATE WE ARE NOW RECRUITING** So, we've decided to start the guild now while we wait for my level 25 Horde guild to transfer to Alliance. The guild in the mean time is a level 1 guild called <Great Sea Buccaneers>, once the level 25 guild is transferred over (or just before) the guild will be disbanded and deleted and everyone will join the new level 25 <Great Sea Buccaneers>. This thread gives us a chance for some feedback, so if you have any ideas you think would be good for a pirate guild like ours then please do tell On the same note anything you think we're doing "wrong" let us know.
This post is also still a work in progress i will be adding new stuff to it.
Posters can be seen all around Alliance lands.
*SAILORS WANTED* For the crew of the Lion's Fortune. Must be fighting' fit an' combat ready. Will be sailing in enemy territory and engaging in some warfare, so nay wimps! The rewards match the danger however. All sailors will get a fare share of the pay.
Who are the Great Sea Buccaneers?
Great Sea Buccaneers is a brand new heavy-RP guild (OOCly it's new, ICly the crew and ship have been around a while, but recently the Captain lost most of his crew and now seeks sailors to join his new crew so he can get back on the high seas). We are the crew of the Lion's Fortune, a merchant trading vessel that's been turned into a fighting Brigantine. The ship's still sometimes used as a merchant trading ship by the crew if they can make a good profit from it, for example mining rare ores from distant lands to bring back and sell, or robbing a tomb (or grave!) for a valuable artefacts or treasures. That's what the crew live for; profits and riches. We raid and pillage towns and settlements all along the Great Sea coast for plunder.
To keep ourselves on the right side side of the law so to speak, we pass ourselves off as Privateers that only attack the Horde and other enemies and not the Alliance, but in reality we have no qualms about killing Alliance if the booty is good enough and we think we can get away with it. This is mainly due to the fact that SW is great for Random RP and if the guild was outlawed and not allowed in the city we'd miss out on a lot of RP.
Although we do have a chain of command starting with the Captain of the ship (Cap'n Jack Magnir) all plunder will be divided between the crew accordingly and major decisions will be put to the vote, with every member having a vote.
Nearly all of the crew were lost after a particularly nasty skirmish with the savage Trolls of Stranglethorn Valley while raiding an ancient Troll temple for a Relic of great power. The Relic was a Jade Cobra with jewels for eyes and a strange glowing aura around it, the jaws of the snake, with sharp fangs, can be closed supposedly to draw blood for some dark blood ritual. It is said who ever's blood touched the Jade snake's tongue during the ritual would be possessed by Hakkar the Blood God and receive certain powers. Although the Captain and his Quartermaster Fronkle managed to escape with the Relic, driven insane by the power of it and fuelled by his own greed Fronkle stole the relic from the Captain in Booty Bay and, after setting fire to the ship's sails, took off in a plane westwards across the Great Sea towards Tanaris.
After getting the ship repaired and reading for sail, Cap'n Magnir has come to Stormwind to recruit a new crew of salty sea dogs to help him get his revenge and get rich doing it!
All around Stormwind are recruitment posters for sailors for the Great Sea Buccaneers aboard the Lion's Fortune.
So you're Pirates then? What will you be doing?
Yes, however there are some differences with the classic Pirates we all know from the movies; like I mentioned earlier, to the Alliance we will be seen as a crew of Privateers helping out in the war effort against the Horde. We will also have a slightly more militaristic feel sort of like a war-band i.e when we raid towns etc. we will use heavy armour (or whatever your class wears) and weapons rather than the gun-heavy swashbuckler-shirt-wearing style of Pirates who mainly use muskets and pistols and don't really wear armour (on ship is a different matter of course).
We'll also be more land-based sometimes, purely due to game mechanics (you can only RP on a static ship for so long until it gets boring). We'll still be spending quite a lot of time onboard sailing of course, traveling around the Great Sea as far north as Northrend and as far south as Booty Bay and Tanaris in our search for riches.
As well as hiring ourselves out as mercenaries for the Alliance (or whom ever will pay) during the large scale battles.
And of course we'll often need to head into port in one of the cities and towns like Stormwind, Theramore, Booty Bay, Ratchet etc. for supplies or to fix the ship and sell our plunder and hit the pub and what not. This can lead to some different and interesting role play, we could mug people in the streets, flog our stolen goods, maybe even clash with the criminal gangs in Stormwind like the Forlorn Cartel….or on the flip side, we could maybe work together to trade contraband or set up some sort of smuggling racket. There are many possibilities to create some really enjoyable RP and I hope to get as many RPers involved with us as possible.
Although there will be set events of course, I hope to create a guild where random spontaneous RP can happen. In some guilds nothing really much happens if the leaders aren't on and setting up events, in this guild I hope it can be different, for example; just say there's only 4-5 low ranked players online and they want to RP, but there are no events or such, then there is nothing stopping them from taking the ship and going on a little raid of their own, grabbing the loot and plunder and bringing it back to the ships hold where it will be shared, or they could go out in the streets of SW robbing people or kidnapping people for ransom money take them to the ship and sail out somewhere to hide them while they wait for the ransom. There are many things you can do as a greedy Pirate xD And if you wanna take the ship and go somewhere and do something you don't need permission or anything like that, anyone can create events.
What is your main goal?
To get rich or die tryin'! We're in it for the loot and money not this silly honour or duty!
At the beginning however our main goals are:
Recruiting a full crew of sailors.
Decking the ship out with all new equipment and artillery, cannons etc. Some of which we will be getting of an Ally of ours. Remember the ship was burned and all though structurally sound a lot of of stuff was destroyed and lost through smoke damage. The cannons had to be sold off to pay for the repairs etc.
On a personal level for Magnir he wants to find his old Quartermaster Fonkle the Goblin who ripped him off and burned the ship.
Can anyone join?
Yes! All races and classes welcome aboard. No level requirements either (though you may not be able to come to some events if you're too low level).
This is a BRAND NEW guild and as such there are ranks that need to be filled, however I won't just make people high rank because they joined first, I will chose my officers carefully based on IC and OOC (when i say OOC I mean how much effort they put into making the guild better by helping out and/or making their own events etc.) reasons.
But what about women? Pirates didn't allow women!
Again this is one of those things we do differently to the standard Pirate model, I just don't think it's relevant in the game to not allow women.
How can I join?
You can by contacting Magnir in game either through /w or mail to set up an Interview (don't worry no big long hard (thats what she said!) application process, just a simple conversation) or you can just go down to the Lion's Fortune ship in Stormwind Harbour (could be any of the ships at any given time depending on their use as we ((or anyone else *CoughcrazyworgenCough*)) do not own any of the ships) and find Magnir there. (remember I have recruitment posters up in SW, so you can just come to the ship and say you saw the poster and would like to join the crew).
All crew members must swear an oath before they may join.
I have (or am in) an RP guild and would like to set up a joint-event or RP with you guys.
Awesome! Just give me (or anyone in the guild) a /w or mail or say here on the forums, like I said the more people and guilds we can get involved and RP with the better.
I hear you have an IC chat channel, how does that work?
Yes we do! /join LionsFortune
So when we're out questing or raiding or PVPing or just derping around SW on the AH, (basically when ever we're not RPing) ICly we won't be doing that stuff ofc instead we'll be onboard the ship (ICly that is) and the chat channel is basically us on the ship, it's hard to explain, but you will get it once you're in. For example this kind of thing:
[LionsFortune]<Pirate 1>: *Gets up out of his hammock and walks out of the sleeping cabin in to the main cabin area*
[LionsFortune]<Pirate 2>: Ye juss woke up?
[LionsFortune]<Pirate 2>: *Looks at Pirate 1's face and grins*
[LionsFortune]<Pirate 2>: Ye've got a face like a bulldog chewin' a wasp!
[LionsFortune]<Pirate 1>: You're face permanently looks like a slapped arse, ye slab sided snuff snortin' greasy powder monkey.
[LionsFortune]<Pirate 1>: *Grabs a mug half filled with last nights rum and downs it*
[LionsFortune]<Pirate 1>: *BURP* Ahhh hair of the dog!
[LionsFortune]<Pirate 3>: [Yell] AVAST! Land ahoy cap'n!
[LionsFortune]<Cap'n>: *Takes the telescope from Pirate 3 and looks in the same direction*
[LionsFortune]<Cap'n>: *Sigh* Thats nae land, that's bloody muck on tha feckin' glass ye imbecile! *Throws the telescope back at Pirate 3*
[LionsFortune]<Pirate 3>: *Looks up with a dumb look* Umm...Oops...
[LionsFortune]<Cap'n>: *Mumbles to himself "Crew o' bleedin' eedgits!"*
Do make sure to change the colour of the chat channel to something other than the default beige so you can see it easy otherwise its hard to see in between all the trade and general chat.
This is of course completely optional, no one is going to force you to join the channel or to speak in it if you do join. It's just there for those that want it.

Culture and feel (Will be much expanded upon)
Pirates are very superstitious you know! I hope to create a pirate culture around the guild that feels more immersive, trying to weave some WoW lore into it too. Obviously some people may see things as an abuse of the lore or completely wrong lore wise, I will try to avoid this, but I may change a little something here or there to make it fit more with the guild if I think it could work and not deviate from the lore too much. Hopefully this will build up as we progress as a guild as new sailors bring their own superstitions and rituals onboard.
All Pirates need luck! Naked ladies bring good luck, so if you see one of us with a magazine full of naked women, thats just for luck! Honest!
Those on the left are part of the Brethren of the Brotherhood of the Coast (Cept the Alliance o'course). Those on the right are as good as dead:

What? I DID say naked ladies bring good luck!
Speaking of naked women...."Use" of Olga the Skalawag Wench is available free to all crew members and allies of the Northsea Freebooters

:O! Looks really good. Pirate guilds usually last a week at best but judging from the effort in this I'd say it'll go abit longer:D
If your still around when I'm back to the game ~2 Months, I'd definaitly be interested!
Can I ask what the guild was before you made into this, since it's guild level 25.

Thanks for the feedback guys
Anaei, i read your message, but I can't send private messages as I haven't reached the post count to do so. But, I would love for you to join and help out. Like I said tis a brand new guild and I do need experienced RPers like yourself to fill in the officer roles. Same goes for you Dreth. If you both have some spare time then it would be great to have you onboard.
And Yorold - You and your crew of Shattersissy Vagabonds may think you are all high and mighty after putting down some Southsea Freebooters, them lot are a bunch of yella-bellied mammys boys! When we catch ye ye'll have a face full o' me boot ye jelly boned thumb suckin' crud bucket ! For now, you and those posers the Freebooters can keep kicking ten bags o' shyte out of each other! Besides I heard their cap'n has been captured, that piss soaked son of a punk alley harlot! Maybe ye will do us a favour and wipe em out before we wipe ye out!
Added a list of friendlies and enemies.

No, and no. RPing on a static ship is the best n' most awesome RP that I've ever experienced. Just pass the Dungeon Master around, or have n' guy with n' great imagination.. like me! There:3. Others then that, cool stuff, sad that you didn't stayed, and good luck. Should maybe add Kul Tirans as your enemy, as they would shoot anyone on sight who would even associate themselves with pirates. =DWe'll also be more land-based sometimes, purely due to game mechanics (you can only RP on a static ship for so long until it gets boring).

Re: [A] Great Sea Buccaneers - RP-PVPirates!
A fair warning for those foolish enough to think they can get away with messing with us!
This is our old friend Jonah Sterling's Dungeon of Doom!
This be Jonah, some people say he's mad. They may be right.
For you see, this is his "Office":
And it seems he has an appetite for Gnomes, or perhaps children
Mad Jonah spends his days down in this dungeon, but he's not alone.
No, you see he shares the dungeon with a giant beast.
Feeding the beast the hacked up corpses of those foolish enough to cross us.
However, that's not the beasts only job. It's real purpose is to guard a stolen relic that holds immense power for those that know how to unlock its potential. Stolen from an ancient Titan compound at the request of Undead warlock professor, who was said to know where the "key" was. Unfortunately his black magics experimentation lead to his demise, as during a ritual of doom, the summoned Doomguard suddenly turned on the professor devouring his soul.
Still it is said that they key to unlock to power of this relic is to be found somewhere in the frozen wastes of Northrend, hidden in ancient times, the knowledge of where lost over the centuries and after the death of the professor. Have the Pirates found this "key"? What type of foul things are going on down there? Rumours of human sacrifice and blood rituals are whispered amongst the pirates of Skalawag Point, maybe the relic has something to do with these rumours or maybe rumours are just rumours?

Hehe indeed ship RP is great! I wouldn't have made a Pirate guild if not xD Still variety is the spice of life! Its good to stand on steady land once in a while, besides how would we rob the unsuspecting coastal village dwellers if we didn't disembark and sack the place? Cannons are great, but they can't rip a wedding ring off a dead womens finger or check under the floorboards for hidden stashes.

Ahhh awesome a forum! Just what we need as I like to jot little ideas down for story lines and events etc. Best to have them online so people can chip in and being on this forum that means people might actually see it rather than the empty lonely forums I was making that no one would ever use xD This is much better.

And the guild transfer thing may take a bit longer than I thought, few hiccups, but none to worry it will be transferred soon!
BUT, I do already have a level 1 guild called Great Sea Buccaneers anyways, which I will delete when the transfer happens.
SO, I guess there's nothing stopping us from using said level 1 guild for now and then we'll leave and disband that guild and join the new level 25 guild when it makes the swap to the blue team. We won't have the useful perks (especially the Have Group Will Travel, oh how I will miss this come Mists :'( ), but WE'LL STILL HAVE EACH OTHER, NOTHING'S GUNNA STOP US, NOTHING'S GUNNA STOP US NOOOOOOOOOW!

Anyone know how I embed YouTube videos? I tried the Instert a video thing and I get this:
[youtube]<iframe width="420" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/0w5s6V8rQH4" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>[/youtube]
Am I doing it wrong or is there another way? Or is it that I don't have permissions to embed videos?
