The History of Orthur Thorgint. Empty The History of Orthur Thorgint.

Orthur was born in a Farmstead located in the Eastfields of the Arathorian Plains, just North-East of the Citadel of Stromgarde. Born to a family of wealthy landowners whom supervised the Farm's operation. He grew up with his Father-Ronald Thorgint, Mother- Barbara Thorgint and Brother- Arran Thorgint until his magical education that started within Stromgarde's walls required further funding, thankfully his Parents were happy to do so as Arran showed little or no interest in anything, a disappointment in their eyes.

Orthur then, in his mid twenties, entered the City of Dalaran in order to focus on his studies like so many budding Arathorian Magi that fueled it's National Army. Dalaran was after all, a City State of the once-mighty Arathorian Empire, it was common for Arathi's Apprentices to enter Dalaran for it's vast libraries and freedom of knowledge unlike anywhere else on Azeroth. Equally Daralan served as a connection to the Elven North, Quel'thalas, whom at the time were friendly towards the Alliance as High Elves. Some of the happiest times in Orthur's life were spent reading in Dalaran and Silvermoon, Quel'thalas was like a second home. Throughout these early years, Orthur considered himself an Arcanist, specializing in the Schools Abjuration and Evocation, however his interest in Magic never peaked there.

In time, it was clear to Orthur that he wanted a Family and was short of time to have one. Years spent in study and War were spent quite differently by his Brother, who had married and fathered a Family himself in Strom itself. This led Orthur to move back from Dalaran to Arathi, reinvigorating the Farmstead that was left to him by his once proud, now deceased parents. Finding his soulmate, Chaori Morgan, seemed just as natural as Magic was to him and together they married and attempted to start a family. All of their efforts were unsuccessful, with only Chaori's bastard daughter- Angxia to their name, as unbeknown to Orthur, he grew to be infertile.

Little of this mattered deeply to Orthur, aslong as Chaori was with him, he was happy to continue trying convinced that one day, they'll succeed however it was not to be. A few months before the Third War ignited Chaori came down with a dreadful illness. Slowly, Chaori's health declined and Orthur, who had in the time with his Family turned to his cultural roots and entered the Priesthood as most Elders did, feverishly attempted everyway he knew how to identify and cure the disease.

As Orthur's efforts failed time and time again he began to fall from grace. His Faith and Philosophies shattered for bargains and pacts with Death- The Shadow and as rumours spouted of a University of Necromancy formed underneath the Ruins of Caer Darrow, his moral Magic soon turned sour as he studied the Magic of Life and Death.

Whilst tutored within Scholomance, Orthur was inspired by a Grimore detailing the sub-school of Hemomancy or Blood Magic. The Rochallion- a Holy Book for Arathorians also mentioned this Art in slight gruesome archaic detail. His curiousity peaked, Orthur began to focus on this form of Life Magic repeatedly haunting Alteracian Ruins for traitors to kill, drain and experiment on. Convinced Hemomancy held the answer to his Wife's Curse, he became obsessed, so obsessed that he didn't notice her heartbeat slow and her eye's close for the final time.

Grief stricken and in mourning, Orthur withheld himself from his surroundings. His obsession in curing his Wife let the rest of the world around him crumble without his notice, Stromgarde had fell to the Syndicate spawning from Alterac's Sin and even Ogre's called the Ruins their home. His family had felt the bitter sting of Orthur's ignorance, with Arran and his Wife now dead, slain by the Syndicate with their children presumed so also. Angxia whom had aided Orthur in his attempts to save Chaori fled in grief herself and Orthur was left alone to mourn. Wars waged all around him but only the Cataclysm itself destroying the Farm Orthur called his home caused Orthur to investigate the outside world once more.

Arathi was in the Seikenid Era, semi-reclaimed but still mostly in ruin, the only whispers of the Thorgint name were directed at Nygarth, Arran's middle Son, so Orthur first went after him. This took him to the North where Orthur witnessed the effects of the Northrend Campaign serving under the Argent Crusade where Nygarth also served. Months dwindled on and Orthur found a lot of his Family still lived, all from Arran's seed, thankfully they were happy to welcome their aged Uncle and Orthur began a time of peace attempting to realign himself with the Ancestor's Light.

It wasn't too long however until the addiction to Hemomancy itched at him, Orthur knew the only way to live his life positively was to change the general attitude towards Blood Magic. The Art was connotated with Fel, Warlocks, Necromancers and Death and those connotations were not wrong, just one sided. It became Orthur's personal quest to rewrite those, with the shield of Faith by his side, he delved into the Ancient Arathorian Theology regarding the Art and promoted it as Holy as the Light itself. He took a reference in an Ancient Text and elaborated on it, reinterpreting it and selling it to his fellow Faithful. Even the South began to slowly respect, if unwillingly, the preaches of the Northern Elder. Protected by the Sanctum of Esarus-Blood, Orthur began to delve further into his Ancestral Faith to the point of Shamanism, invoking and channelling Spirits themselves. In due time, his past riddled in Necromancy and Shadow Magic returned, this time Orthur embraced it selfishly believing that he had secured his place in the Ancestral Halls in his Afterlife. After all, he was channeling positive Spirits, Ancestors themselves, or so he believed.

Currently Orthur resides back in Dalaran, still floating in the Northrend. Although the Kirin Tor have essentially broke what the City of Dalaran stood for when the Arathorian's formed it, turning freedom of knowledge into oppression of knowledge, as a revered Elder, Orthur finds it comfortable to live, research and teach under the guise of a typical Archmage.
