OOC:
Greetings everyone Smile This is basically the journal of my crazy apothecary alt^^ Due to a explosion at his work place recently, his journal got blown off, and some of the pages got loose. I just thought of this as a nice opportunity to display some IC things to the public should you be around Lordaeron, and to perhaps stir up some interest ICly to those who desire it Smile If not, then I hope it is enjoyable to read nevertheless Smile This is only but the begining since I am still working on the other pages which I would display in due time. Here goes!

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
IC:

*Should you be travelling the Western or Eastern Plaguelands, a copy of the following parchment might be found. The parchment is rather old and gray, with the edges torn of; clearly predicting that it is but one page teared out of a book. The Ink is pitch black, with a clear and rather fashioned hand-writing.*

My most humblest and modest greetings to all my fellow readers and colleagues who have come across the work of an old man's conquest.

First, I shall begin with a proper introduction, for let us not forget such gracious formalities and manners which has perserved human civilization for so long. I, am Doctor Barthemolio Baahl; Kirin Tor mage, Lordaeronian Medic.

What I am about to reveal, is the sweat and pain of long years of research, and the induldgement in all manners of books, magic and practical applications of what would define a man as a doctor. But be warned, for this journey that you are about to undertake, is not for the faint-hearted.

As a doctor, it is not unusual for any who is peering upon my words to guess that I have spent long days and nights in attempts to discover and grasp all various methods of curing the heinous diseases and mortal wounds which would put a man's life on risk. And upon each endeavor, through the research of our ancestors and most esteemed doctors and healers, I have succeeded in conjuring any means necessary to vanquish all manners of sickness except one; death.

The very uttering of that word bestows upon me such sadness and despair.. for against its inevitable eyes, I lay weakened and hopeless. To find the cure to that which brings about the end of all races, that is the dream of most doctors and medics; to ensure their patients, that as long as we are granted the honor to look after their lives, they are safe. But countless times, have men and women slipped through my fingers; to be granted the trust upon one's life, and hopelessly demeaning it. I have had enough of such torture, of such guilt, that I would refuse to not remain in control of our souls, that I would refuse to see humanity being controlled of such a terrible fate as death. My dear readers, I ask of you to join me on my quest; read with me, learn with me, conclude with me. Let us together, take control of our lives.

Should you accept my invitation, I must, mostly humbly, ask of one condition. Lock away your beliefs, ethics, or any other manner of dogma you follow. If by my words, you would feel offended, then I must urge you to rest assure that what you think is not my intention at all. Many scientific and academic revelations have been impaired with the intervention of religous doctrines which prevent us to truely achieve our potential. Yes, at most times, their intervention is quaint and timely, but to truely grasp what is unfathomable, to achieve what is impossible, we must by all means consult with unorthodox methods and forbidden or rather rejected arts. My fellow readers, please, if I harm your beliefs, then shut this book and do not linger upon my name, for the last thing I intend is to insult you. But if you are able to hold true to my condition, to use only reason and logic upon this conquest, to only base your judgement upon the fact and the observation, the conclusion and the evidence! Then please, by all means, join me.

My request might sound unusual or abnormal, but I have run out of time, and to bound myself to limits is something I cannot comprehend. I shall achieve my goal through any means! No manner of personal conjecture nor surmise shall prevent me! And I ask of you, to shroud away any manner of dogma and leave only your reason and logic so you would truely be able to grasp your potential through only practical physical and magical manifestations, to understand how this world operates, so together, we would truely be in control of our fates.

And so, my lovely readers, let us go upon this journey, for if we succeed... then death shall become absolete... and mortality shall become immortality. Thus turn the page - should you dare - and together, let us unravel these mysteries.

Page 1! Hope it's enjoyable to read if it doesn't connect ICly to your characters in Lordaeron! Smile

IC:

*Should you be travelling the Western or Eastern Plaguelands, the following parchment could be found. On the right hand corner of the page, a "1" is labeled in red. As usual, the parchment is gray and old, with the edges torn off depicting that it is but one page teared out of a book. The Ink is pitch black, with a clear and rather fashioned hand writing. One difference though, is that half the page is smudged with an odd green colour, yet it has not effected the clarity of the text.*

Clear your thoughts, and ease your minds. Intelligence is a gift, my fellow colleagues; let nothing obstruct it nor impair it. Let only the skies be your limit upon this journey of self revelation.

Now how does one begin his research? By ackowledging and defining what it is we are trying to achieve. And in our case, it is the ulterior, most benevolent concept of Immortality.

Immortality is defined as the ability to live for an eternity. It is when preservation endures on to the infinite timeline, where the begining has no end; where life has no death. But it is upon this very thought that most scientists and academic workers are misdirected and treading upon the faulty path of imaginative success, where they are only lead to an abrupt dead end. We believe that Immortality is not associated with death, we believe it is the preservation of life prior to death, but be certain my most dearest readers, that this conception is frail. As long as the term "mortality" is within the context of "immortality", death is an inevitable turn that we must comprehend and partake in order for us to truely grasp eternal life. As much as this resolution saddens me, it is nothing but true. Mortality is defined as the condition of being susceptible to death and the undoing of your very being, while immortality... is truely defined as the ability to transcend death.

It is from such a conclusion, that we realise that magical arts of druidism, shamanism and the interpretation of the holy light is nothing, but naught upon this quest. Such arts are able to preserve life prior to one meeting his demise, but upon the precipice of death, can such beliefs and practises halt the rock of mortality to merely fall and shatter? Of course, we do realise the most esteemed divine gifts of such sacred magic which allows the practioner to restore the soul of a fallen victim to it's pallor corpse, for much have I witnessed such an extroadinary event when my medical abilities were hindered useless against death's everlasting gaze. But subsequent to such magic and faith, does it prevent the fate of that particular victim to not intertwine with his demise ever again? Most unfortunately, it does not. We do not deny the abundant, divine healing powers of such revered faiths, not to mention its unique ability to deny death its preys, even if only for a while. But can such arts grasp immortality? It can not.

For such reasons, we must consult with other methods, methods which are not biased only towards the segment of life upon our world, but methods which deal with the adverse segment; death.

Immortality is the unity and combustion of both life and death. One must be able to apprehend and assimilate both of those vicinities to indubitably be able to achieve eternal existance. An ingenuity which combines both life and death must be revealed and embraced for our aim to succeed. But upon human civilization today, denizens fear to have anything connected with such a horrid concept as death, and doing such is socially frowned upon. At most times, such dread and denouncement is for a valid reason, but one must perform sacrifices and undertake any challenge for the greater good.

Cast away your terror and doubt, do not let such a thing restraint your brilliance and sagacity. Conquer your fears and cast away such social enigmas which intend to shackle you, so you would be able to spread your wings and take flight, and the very impossible shall be fathomed by you!

As a child, I have always had a phobic persona towards spiders. Upon the age of eighteen, I confronted such a disgusting creature and laid it to rest. Now, I am fascinated by the incredible traits of such a small being and their ability to conjure such things that not even we, as humans, are able to - if - we remain ignorant to such knowledge present amidst us. And rest assured, my Gentlemen and Ladies, you too shall be fascinated by the knowledge and power of what you deemed as your fears or what you thought to be morally intangible, should you be able to let nothing impede you from siezing it.

Now I must retire to my research and thoughts, to discover what exactly can provide our journey the force of which will lead us to our revelation. And I do hope, that you shall heed my words of conquering your fears of the unknown. Why is it that what we do not know, is always dreaded? Is it because it is wicked? Or merely because we do - not - understand it?

Truth can be found in stating that patience is a virtue, for I can not wait to return to my most beloved readers with what I have discovered... and understood.

Greetings yet again, beloved aspirants. I bid that this day treats you all well.

Upon our last endeavor we have agreed that no manner of shamanism, druidism or any interpretation of the holy light could possibly grant immortality, for within Death's vicinity, they can only delay one's demise. Thus, our resolution was that we should seek elsewhere; to come upon another method, a method which would contribute to this conquest that I so soughtly wish to complete.

And it is from such a resolution, that my research led me to the arcane arts. As an apprentice mage, I contain quite a simple and a beginner's understanding of magic, so if any of my lovely readers have little to naught knowledge of what I am about to leap into, worry not for you require only to comprehend the basic idea at hand, and the conclusion we shall draw from it. We do not seek to delve deep into a method unless we are truely certain that it is what we yearn for; our salvation for the ability of utterly taking control of our own fates.
Therefore, we shall see the efficiency and practicality of the schools of magic we shall induldge in, and if any suits the characteristics that we wish to obtain, we shall delve deep within that concluded discovery.

I am a simple man, and as a medic I prefer keeping matters consice and easily comprehensible so that I would come across the right method of curing my patients in the time given, without letting their sickly diseases evolve and bolster. And so, I shall follow such a theory in our research.

Fire, frost and nature magic are most obviosely irrelevant to our purpose. Fire and frost are a form of aggresive or defensive gifts used for various reasons which would be a most unfortunate loss of time if we are to decipher the many uses they uphold. What we need to understand that none of the mentioned has any form of infinite perservation. Fire is a form of destruction. Frost countains quite a handful defensive abilities, and could perhaps conjure a temporary strong fortification around one's person or even a group, but yet it does not grant immortal life - it does not achieve maximum efficiency and practicality, for it is used for such barbaric uses as battles and war, not for knowledge and science. Nature magic is similiar to druidism or perhaps even shamanism, even if in a different form, and as discussed earlier, such abilities only grant limited potential and power; immortality is not confined to shackles.

Perhaps the pure form of arcane magic? Is that what we seek? First we must define "pure". I acknowledge such a term as that it fits to a standardized set of characteristics and attributes, which limit its potential and gifts. As mentioned earlier, immortality is not confined to limits. The pure form of arcane is used only to channel raw energies or converge it to form the other schools of magic which we just deemed futile and useless. No, it is not the "pure" form of arcane magic or any other for they are hindered restrained.

The answer is clear, my Gentlemen and Ladies, and I shall not deny it any further. To gain what we seek, we -must- consult with unorthodox methods; transcendental magic and rapturous abilities which are deemed by the greater public as "forbidden" and "perilous". I mentioned this once, I shall mention it again: If you do not contain the necessary courage and determination to do what is necessary to achieve our intent, then let this be the last page you read, for what I shall discuss further on from this point is not for the weak-willed and faint-hearted.

But if you think yourself to have what is needed to pursue this desideratum through to the end, then turn this page and let us, at long last, grasp our lives and bend it to our will!
