During those 24 Hours - Try Prologue RP Server

Prologue - A private roleplaying server. Many people will have tried it, but I'll cut to the point:

Roleplaying all around - from Stromgarde, Plaguelands, Theramore, Ungoro.
New reputation factions - including the Scarlet Crusade and Scourge.
Reclaim lost territory - Once NPCs die, they are gone forever (Although can be replaced by GMs).
Build anywhere - Houses, tents, castles, can all be built. Want to have your own house in the Elwynn hills? You got it. Want to create a new city? You go girl.
GM Support at Events - From controlling NPCs, spawning a horde of zombies, the sky is the limit.
No Item farming - Request items from the website, with restrictions on Blue/Epixx.
No stats - Want to look good but underpowered to that guy wearing Northrend gear? All item stats are removed.
NPC Gear - Sick of Imperial Plate and just want the same gear as those Stormwind Guards? Now you can have it.
Realistic population - Most wildlife and mobs have been removed.
Buff to 80 - All characters, including mobs have been buffed to Level 80 so as to create more realism.
No OOCers - For obvious reasons.
Custom lore - Change server lore through events and plotlines.
Vanilla - Prologue lore begins from vanilla. Tired of Blood Elves on the Horde? Death Knights can't roleplay for shit? No worries.
Cross Faction RP - One language that can be heard by both Alliance and Horde races. Both sides are also able to join each others guilds and parties.

And more.

Oh, and Defias has it's own chat channel. Garodin, Mozerath, Cedjor and others have been playing for a few months now. It's simple to get set up, and return to retail within about two minutes so why not give it a try tommorow?

Not quite. If you're ganked, unfairly killed etc you can petition to have your lifeback.

When you loose all your HP, your character is simply stunned for about ten seconds during which time a macro must be done to 'execute' the player, including a four line emote that cannot be macroed.

Also on my primary character who I've been playing on practically every day for nearly 3 months now, I'm yet to die once so this 'perma death' isn't really harsh at all.

Blizzard have yet to ban anybody for playing a private server only shut them down.
You also create a new account, seperate of your BattleNet one.. naturally.

I've been playing for around 3 months now, as have hundreds of other people. No sort of security risks at all.

Looks too Alliance orientated for my tastes.

I was in the same boat, in 5 years I hadn't even considered it. It was worth it though, at least until Cataclysm.

private servers are very very safe

Isn't the 'warden' able to detect when one uses private servers? How do you know people have not been banned using private servers?

You don't need to be. Make an account, get on the server, make your character, then head onto the site and 'activate' it (It's just a little character quiz for your Prologue-specific talent trees) and away you go.

It's very illegal, as much as any other private server.
