If my characters were to have children, then I'd have the baby age realistically likewise. Hence why I typically avoid it, because it's such a hassle to be dealing with an annoying toddler in your RP for years on end. Did it once, never again.

I'm pretty much with Drust here. I've always followed the ooc timeline to the best of my abilities. It just feels more realistic and better that way.

Although, having a character that is more a part of Zalissa's past rather than present, it's a bit fun to see that developement.

However, seen a very similiar, if not bigger developement in Timna, whom aged realisticly. Hm. I guess it's 50/50. In the end I keep my stuff to real time.

So it'll jar people you RP with that disagree with time skipping. A lot of RP can surround having a young child and the raising of them. Skipping straight to them being older and RP'able without a decent reason can be awkward.

Not to mention the fact Zalissa and Quin will end up being older than people they were the same age as/younger than the day before :p

Don't you think they'll remain forever faceless though? I mean Vinian is only 2 months old(and invisible) and already a lot of people know who he is. There isn't a release date for MoP, but at least when the time comes that I do decide to age his character, he'll exist prior to that. Nobody is going to/will ever know Annie and Led's kids in that case. I understand some people prefer it real time, but what's the point in having children then? It's like the Sims' 1, they'll always remain children and an annoyance (to RP) because they won't grow!

Plus I was relying on a time skip occurring for MoP, like the dramatic one that happened with Cata coming, i.e. Anduin Wrynn becoming a teenager, the docks being erected/every other feature that occurred within the city because of new expansion that'd take time to build if we're thinking realistically). There was a handful of people that went with the time skip, and another bunch of people who didn't and things seemed to run on as normal, and that would justify Zal and Q's ageing. However, if there isn't a time-skip for MoP that changes things... I'd reconsider, since Vin's ageing would come hand and hand with Quin's character and mine. But as I said, I don't really care who has a problem with how I want to RP, I'm paying for the game, I'll do what I want.

I think the difference between people time-skipping between Wrath and Cata, and the potential MoP time skip is that it was rarely announced. And if character's age by a small amount, that isn't too much of an issue, because it can be worked around via the RP. It's different with a kid. I mean it entirely depends on how much you want to age him by, but think of Ave's point. If Zalissa n' Quin age as well, Zalissa will be closing in on Ave's age, if not end up the same age. That breaks things pretty substantially, because it suggests Ave needs to age her character for it to make sense.

The issue with timeskipping in RP is that it leaves far too much unexplained happenings and most people do not enjoy the idea of that. As for Led's kids, it's a non-issue for Annie and I that they won't be RP'd, because we're both quite happy writing about the futures of our character's children. I'm not saying everyone needs to do it that way, and I'm not demanding you do either.

All I'm saying is timeskips do effect the people around your character, and it's an awkward situation to place them in just 'cause you want the kid to be RP'd asap, y'know?

I know it was unannounced in regard to a time skip, yes but it was common sense to look at an NPC that was once a child and see how he's now older and come to the conclusion that there was some form of years passing in game, as well as every other dramatic time-lapsing change that was evident in those expansions. Also fair enough if that suits you, and you're happy that's great. But I just see it as a missed opportunity. Nearly EVERYONE is an orphan in character or has faceless parents that aren't actually played by anyone, and if they are there is no history in place. Look at Anaei and Saihna; they have a massive history over the years of RPing on DB, and the Trollbane family tree is thoroughly recognised. The personality of Quin and Zalissa is put into one entity for someone to act out and actually continue on some kind of legacy in character that isn't just "oh his mum was so-and-so, and his dad was *insert some other meaningless, empty character name here*" and personally I think that mix of personality, appearance and legacy that -can- be acted out by someone who knows how you RP/how your characters are will go wasted if you choose to do otherwise like yourself and Annie have decided, however I stress like you have, I'm not demanding you do what I do, if that floats your boat then kudos but this is the lines of thought in which I'm thinking.

Also I understand completely that it can make things awkward, I've been faced with similar situations myself upon knowing someone then that person out ageing you when you were previously older/same age as. But if everyone thinks as straight edge as that nothing would be able to happen; lets face it, WoW is -not- an RP game. RP servers are an additional throw in Blizzard input. There's so many little things that could be improved to make RP more efficient, and there's a whole list of things everyone and their granny could harp on about as to "what doesn't work in World of Warcraft when regarding RP"
sorry but, I think a moment of awkward "Oh you aged? Oh alright.." is worth having a brand new character/legacy brought to game that's actually genuine.

In addition, I don't think I made myself clear enough in regard to the actual age he'd be if there was some form of time skip when MoP darkens our doorstep, I consider the age of 7-8 to be manageable for someone to rp, nothing as dramatic from going to a baby to an adolescent in a matter of months... Unless of course Blizzard say "there's going to be a 20 year time skip, guiz." (Which our famously unreliable-to-RP-functions Blizzard will most probably not do ).
