Yep, either myself or Meln could give you the GHI Chapter texts you'd have access to ICly (Holy Scripture, Articles of Faith, Book of Ioanna; if it's finished yet)Thelos wrote:Thank you, Corleth, that was most insightful and exactly what I wanted to learn, especially because I sometimes jokingly refer to Draenei as "Spacejews", since they would be the first Abrahamic religion, if we were to stress the analogy.Corleth wrote:The Chapter view the other human and Draenei institutions much in the same way that traditional Islam views the other Abrahamic religions: as Light-inspired 'rays of truth', while the Anethionean doctrine is the full-picture, so to speak.
Could I perhaps ask for a GHI item, or a PDF of sorts?

I think the texts we have:
The Holy Scripture
Articles of Faith/Canon Guide Book
Sins & Atonement (needs to be made into GHI, still only on forums)
Witchbane (kinda secret)
Rank-specific books (half-secret)

Witchbane is kinda known about, but it wouldn't be readily available for anyone outside of the Inquisition, I don't think.
I've made a Catechism book, taking out the canon-guide part, just making it into an article of faith and I'll create the Sin and Atonement one too.
There is also the Inquiry of Faith.

Just ask yourself: "What scriptues and texts would be made available to a Draenei Anchorite", and I'll take those. No kinda secret of even half secret stuff for ye old Thelos!

Re: Anethion - Light's prophet or a power-hungry demagogue?
Index of deviant, unorthodox teachings and beliefs attributed to the Prophet Anethion and declared heresy by His church:
Athanasiansism - A belief founded upon the priesthood of all believers, a rejection of Abbatial jurisdiction, authority of the Clergy and the utopia of a communal life-style. It is speculated this sect split from the main body of the Church during the first schism of 17 A.E but did not establish a codified teaching until some time around 20 A.E, when a false-prophet named Athanasians declared himself the biological and spiritual son of Anethion. The commune was destroyed and Athanasians executed by knights of the Shadowbreaker order and Witch-Hunters of the Inquisition, 25 A.E
Ordealism - A small sect that sprung up around the murder of Abbot Bernard in 17 A.E, holding that no creature is born with a soul but that one is earned through pain, suffering, prayer and trials heavily influenced by Bernard's treatise on Trials of Faith.
Gastroenism - A belief propagated by no more than four heretics during the beginning of 18 A.E that held the study of the stomach and its noises are revelations from the Light. The sect was dismissed by nearly all believers at the time and stamped out by Waldemar.
Bernardism - Established by High-Inquisitor Regelius Renn during the fourth schism of 24 A.E with the founding of the Chapter of Holy Bernard, created more as a reaction against the austere and puritanical punishments of the Clergy against members of the Inquisition rather than any core belief or doctrine, it was quickly dissolved and the 'followers' reconciled into the body of the Church and orthodox Anethion belief.
Naaruviaism - A teaching propagating the notion of Anethion being granted revelation by the mystical Naaru rather than direct communication from the Holy-Light It self. This sect has shown very little attempts to proselytise, Inquisitorial investigations hint at the small band of heretics venturing into the Outlands in an attempt to find the Naaru which spoke to Anethion.
Elderism - A very small Arathorian-influenced heathen belief based around the idea of Anethion as an ancestor of Humanity alongside mockeries of the Light such as Suxen and others.
Trancendentalism - Moderately large sect greatly influenced by the writings of Essalus that held Anethion as being of Divine origin specifically sent down by the Light. This teaching was tolerated up until the Red Mass of 18 A.E in which all believers of the teaching were executed at the order of Waldemar for portraying a false idea of Anethion.
Electism - A teaching conceived of and spread by an anonymous ascetic, wandering cleric whom said that proselytisation was a grave Sin and unnecessary, as only an elect of the faithful would earn a place in the Here-after and those that have been granted a place would receive personal revelations from the Light beseeching them to convert if they were not already converted.
OOC: Just a small addition to Melnerag's brilliant topic. Knowledge of these heretical beliefs are likely to be gained in the darker corners of Northshire Abbey's library, though they are all written from an Orthodox Anethion stand-point. It should also be noted that the knowledge of some of the heresies committed and then persecuted by the Chapter during the Dark Age of Waldemar (17 A.E – ? A.E) exist through word of mouth alone.

Would it be possible to either have Meln post this in our Library section as well OR have a mod copy it in there? Great reading material!
