WoW Lost 800k Subscribers, down to 10.3M
Activision Blizzard latest earning call revealed that World of Warcraft lost another 800,000 subscribers last quarter, following the loss of 300k subscribers announced last quarter and 600k loss from the quarter before that. This brings us to 1.7 million subscribers lost in the last 3 quarters. Some things they made note of on the call:
Most of the subscriptions were lost in China.
There is normally an increase in subscriptions around December.
The decreased profit came from all of the games in development and no launches occurring.
There will be at least two major releases next year.

Yeah, I think a lot of people are here just for RP and the community. I for one stopped bothering with gameplay when Cata released.
But I don't quit because I have some friends who I can only talk to on wow.

I enjoyed cataclysm at the start. It wasn't cataclysm I got bored with. It was the game mechanics over all.

I believe it's because people are demanding more innovative gameplay (this includes mechanics), without making it more casual.
Blizzard changed their product for the worse, making it more casual and thus having the older players and the newest players leave.
Personally, I enjoy RP. That's it. The community (this includes role play) is the only thing keeping me here.
Guild Wars II looks like the possible victor over World of Warcraft. But we must remember that we have been saying this for years now, with every great (MMO) title being released. We'll see!

I haven't been saying that... I've been laughing at everything since AoC. Which failed horribly.
As for GW II. I am anticipating it highly but the only people who claim it'll kill WoW are players. Not GW 2 developers. THey don't even care about it. =P

Still semi-enjoying the game (Mostly focusing on RPing, along with alting...) and hoping that 4.3. will cheer me up a little. Most likely it will be el Diablo, that will push WoW aside for a hefty amount of time, if something.
