The Monk Class

Hello! i thought i'd raise this topic to allow people to explain their feelings on this new class, be it RP, pve, PVP ore lore related.

i myself have a mixed feeling, its quite possible my orc blademaster would fit an orc 'monk' better than a 'Rogue'. but seeing the direction he's taken, as very literally a ninja master... i think he's best left as the class he is.... being a sneaky son of an ogre who specialises in blade slashing skillz.

as for monk itself, it seems interesting so far, and i look forward to further elaborations on its skill and talent tree's in relations to hand to hand combat AND its light/shadow/Chi skill costs.

The monk npc's ingame seem to group up with religious orders.
Auchenai Monks, Crimson and Scarlet Monks, Argent monks, Condemned Monks. The Argent Monks also show signs of using holy magic.

Very interested in the starting quests for the other races.

Unneeded, They can't balance 10 classes, they won't balance 11.

I would advice taking discussions about Monks to the general Mists of Pandaria thread (which has 20 pages by now) to avoid creating too many topics. Topics on the Expansion seem to provoke a lot of volatile responses, so I think it would be best to keep them all in a single thread.

I intend to make a female orc monk, and I was gonna ask if you fancied training her Krogon? Y'know as were pals? Oh buddy.. old chum?!

I'm not quite sure what... The point is?
I mean it feels like every possible class has been done. Is it just for the sale of a new name?

There isn't really a class that covers fist weapons and staff used for melee. Also martial arts are cool.

This class interests me.

The point is, as always, to have more fun in more ways.

I will post something on how I'd like to play my Draenei monk some time in the future. As for now though I haven't quite put the pieces together yet. It will have something to do with equating the flow of chi with the flow of Light that is natural to the Draenei body. Probably something with Chakra and pressure points while we're at it, because those are pretty gnarly.

Gonna probably play an old man Pandaren monk like that old guy from the Last Airbender series Maybe a female one too depending on how much I end upliking the class, and how females turn out.

Yet to see a cloth melee class or maybe even a cloth tank. Pity the monk will be a leather using class...

I'm pretty interested in the class. Not overly sure there is much need for another potential tanking class, but it seems quirky nonetheless. I'll most likely be making one.

Looks like it's gonna heal too.. Through melee DPS. Interestin'.

Maybe it takes the life force f its enemies... I like it.

Actually.. If they are not careful with that it could break 'The Holy Trinity' of WoW.. which would be bad.. (even if Holy Trinity games are, imo, worse than non-Holy Trinity games)

This is because if you have a healer that can heal just aswel as any other healer, but does damage aswel, that's going to be more preferable to any other healer (unless they get an equal amount of damage output), making those healers obsolete..

Although very interested to see what they will make of it!

Vect, when i get back at the end of november...

Krogon will be training orcs in the black arts/martial arts. even though he himself is primarily a sword wielder, i have (even before this X-pansion was announced) been using the panda neck pinch racial xD Ninja skills, always a joy. it is awfully tempting to make him a monk, but rogue just fits better for him.

so yes, bring your orcs to me, FOR THE BLOOD OF THE TRIBE!

and in paticular, i'd like to know what more advanced core skills the class has, before i learn what talented healing/dps/tanking skills it possess in order to understand their 'methodology' better.

We already have tanks capable of doing decent damage. I think we'll be fine.

As far as the class goes, I probably won't roll one, but as Dru was an Auchenai Monk at one point, I might.

The sense I got from it was that the healing monk would just be hitting stuff to generate resources to use for casting heals, not that they would be able to do much actual damage at all.

The class is interesting just not as a panda for me. What races can be monk again?

All except goblin and worgen.

The only good thing I see about monks is that I could have a PROPER bar brawl as one. Fuck pulling out big ass axes, we pirates use broken bottles and our fists. Seeing Morinth punch shit out of them orcs... Ahhh. <3
