I could have started playing any number of asian MMOs if I wanted to look at environments like that for a year or more x.x
I don't doubt that all five zones will be very distinct from each other, but the information so far suggests that they'll still all have an asian flavor. The architectural style has been decidedly asian in screenshots from each zone at least.

I'm gonna open my subscription, level a pandaren priest to 90, get that really extremely abusable friendly fire spell they get, then I'm gonna join a heroic and at the first given possible time, I'm going to lifegrip the healer into a REALLY NASTY FIRE and just before I die with him, I'm gonna swap my HP bar with the tank.
I'll repeat this ten thousand times while farming pokemon in the queuetimes.
Also I'll roll 2 pandas so I can do it to both factions.

If you think my previous post does not demonstrate vast amounts of excitement, you really need to get to know me better.
Yes, I'm overly excited. But for all the wrong reasons.

I'm with you, Guldu.
The current anxiety about Pandaren is reminding me a lot of the anxiety and outcries in the community about the Draenei before the Burning Crusade came out.
I was skeptic about the Draenei at first, too. Now look at me. They've completely won me over.
Do not be too quick in your judgement. Suspend it untill the actual thing is in your face and confronts you. Then you can decide whether you want to accept it and embrace it, or discard it and quit the game.

One thing's for sure. I'm very interested in the possiblities of roleplaying a monk. I might end up rerolling Thelos, or just rerolling as a Human or Pandaren monk, but whatever I decide to do I'm looking forward to exploring it IC.

Joking aside, yes, the monk class looks epic and I'll be playing that definitely if I return.

Oh god, no. Please. no.
Then again, I'm not gonna speak to soon.
Why exactly does there NEED to be an Asia themed expansion? Can't we have a fantasy game that doesn't try and roflol creativity from historical cultures? C'mon.. D: Age of Conan did it already!

World of Warcraft has always been doing exactly this. Perhaps it is just a little more obvious this time because now they dedicate an entire expansion to it. Somehow I didn't read complains of this sort during Wrath of the Lich King. Didn't they pretty much rolflol creativity from Norse mythology something fierce? I dont see how this is much different.
Have you ever stopped to try and analyse Draenei architecture and artstyles? Its an unholy mismash of all sorts of cultures. The Hindi influences in particular are completely random. And what about Night Elf architecture? Looks pretty oriental as well. This is even more obvious with the Naga. There's plenty of Hinduistic looking demons running around, too. Think the Deva-Shiva looking chicks with the arms and stuff. Its little things like that. They copy and paste from cultures that inspire them. This "Anything-goes" sort of mentality has always been one of the major attractions of WoW for me. Its a rich and vibrant mozaïc where everything is possible.

Just because you slap a few arches into Night elf architecture doesn't make them the Japanese race for world of warcraft. The Pandaren are essentially a Chinese stereotype with a few anthropomorphic quirks thrown in.
It isn't a mish-mash of any sort of architecture it's high-fantasy. There is a difference between something having characteristics of a style, then say copying it and dramatizing it upon it.
You could quite easily copy and paste this screen shot into " Jack Chan Adventures " cartoon.. y'know the one with all the animals and rocks..
It's just so cliché and predictable, Non of the three expansions before this one were predictable.
The burning crusade: Really broke the mould from vanilla WOW, with the high-fantasy themes and Legion lore being properly fleshed out and given iconic symbolism. Remember the sky in Outland?
WOTLK: Had Norse and Vikeing themes: Yes, but it also Incorporated the scourge and -built- upon the theme, the Vrykul were original and had a serious tone to them, Fighting them in the Fjord was epic espically with the battle cries and " proving ground " mentality.
Cataclysm: Offered us the worgen, with a darker more serious tone fantasy. Whilst still giving goblins a time to shine, it was a great expansion: For me at least, albeit a little mismatched and not as -focused- as the other two expansions.
--
I'm not gonna QQ about this expansion, currently not even -playing- WOW. But it doesn't feel like Blizzards best work, Pandarians may have been in the lore, maybe they're just not my cup of tea. But it just feels a little predictable, safe and censored.
