The man was a known animal-hater, he'd already gotten in trouble for trying to poison the local wildlife. He didn't even want an animal PASSING his garden. He tried to phone the police when the neighbours cat was sitting on his fence.

And I still don't see the problem. the man doesn't like animals. its his property, you as an animal owner should then learn to teach the beasts to not cross his garden.

since usually, when you go to the owners and you say: "hey, your cat has been hanging around in my garden, and i don't want that, can you keep him away?" people tend to be "who are you to tell me how to treat my animals!!!!"

If you think trying to poison peoples pets is allowed, sure.

One of my kittens is terrified to leave my house due to how people treat her. And she's the most well behaved cat you'll ever meet.

I'm allowed to toss poison in my own garden if I wish yes.

My grandma's neighbor used to shoot my grandma's cats when they went to his property. It was a jerk thing to do, but I also blame grandma for not keeping the cats indoors or building a cage for them.
It is wrong for them to kill other people's pets, but unfortunately there are animal haters everywhere and you are knowingly taking a big risk if you let your cat outside unattended.

The thing with poisoned food is, besides it being a dickmove that deserves are good trashing, is that it could be eaten by, say, a todler.

If someones first choice is to kill the problem instead of reasoning with the order, yeah, I'm worried about sudden violence right there.

Actually... No. You're not allowed to toss any kind of poison on your own garden. In fact, you're not even allowed to grow any plant you wish. You're not permitted to redesign it entirely to your heart's content either.

It's also illegal to kill wild birds here. \o One of 'em picks up poison and people prove it was you, you're fucked.

My parents were considering to catch the cats that invaded their garden during the summer and put them down, as they couldn't standing being outside due to the lovely stench of cat pee.

Doing so is legal in my country, as long as you advertise your intentions in advance in a local newspaper.

I still think people should control thier pets, my dog slipped from my dads grip once and he went and impregnated a dog, we castrated him after that but refused to pay the abortion for the other dog, we took our side, she just wanted to toss it all onto us when she leaves a female dog outside in no enclosure.
