To be honest, Black Library's a good example in that sense. They have shity books, good books, epic storylines (Horus Heresy), silly storylines (Ciaphas Cain) etc. Still they have the same setting. I don't expect the stuff I buy and read to be Dickens, I expect them to be readable by mere mortals and not be a literal wankstain of a shoddy writer.

What I meant was that the game comes first, the novels are quite obviously an afterthought. Sure they could be better but there are alternatives in the genre that can fill the hole. All we need is wowwiki for lore updates and -more- in game lore progression. On a side note I own and have read almost 11 warcraft novels without counting and do appreciate the effort put into expanding the -past-. Current and future lore should be implemented into the game, not made to be bought in paper format. For this reason I care little for the quality of the novels, I don't read present or future Warcraft novels anymore.

Both Varian king

and Garrosh pig

are great imo. Complex characters are far more common than the passionate hero nowadays anyway, at least in the stories I usually read, and it really depends on how entertaining they are more than how sophisticated they are no? :p
