Guild Wars 2

I'm still not sure if I'll have money to buy it when it comes out, but anyone here got plans for a Norn guild yet?

While I don't know that, it does seem like there's not even a norn specific guild at the GW2 RP website yet. But no doubt that sooner or later there will be.

I'm wondering whether to go over there and start something up...

It has been decided. Piken Square = EU RP.

I will be on Piken Square playing a creepy Asura mesmer.

I love this game for the Guesting. I can be on a more PvP focussed realm while being able to go to another world if the need to RP arises without having to make a new character. :3

Been considering it too, but I've the feeling the WvWvW queues there are going to be absolute murder if the beta is anything to go by.

Piken square EU me. Human or Asura Thief. Gonna start a guild too, I think.

I can't wait for GW2 now, the whole RP thing I'll do at a later point. For the start, I just plan to play the game with IRL mates the way it is meant to be played. Once I'm nice and comfortable and have a couple of characters, I'll get into the RP scene.

I do hope the game feels less disjointed than the beta felt. More clear, more story driven etc like the first one was. When I played the beta, I thought I was nitpicking but even my friend who has "God walking amongst mere mortals" (Any GW player will know that is one HELL of a title!) found it quite clunky. Here's hoping things improve later down the line!

You probably know what I mean by this already - but what you've described is quite intentional. There's meant to be the personal story, which is the story to pursue, whilst 'questing' in the world will often be a case of a series of unrelated or semi-related events. I think the idea there was to avoid pushing players into doing the quests in a specific order, so that you didn't have to worry about a disjointed narrative or having only a couple of things to do at a time.

As long as you don't fall into option paralysis, I think they've got it (just about) right.

I'll be initially playing with a lot of IRL friends for the first couple of months, but I'd like to be able to RP on the chars I level with them.

However, there are the unofficial RP servers picked by the GW rp community rather than the game creators. I believe it's Piken Square for EU?

Which means that you can play there and still quest on another server, or other way around if you prefer that.

You can buy gems (the cash store currency) to pay for a server transfer.

Noone is sure how the whole guesting thing will turn out. We don't know what kind of shiny restrictions they might put on it. So far we only know you need a friend in a world and then you can visit the place. You can't do any PvP but else you're free to move around.

Some think it'll be restricted to when your friend is online, since else you'll just choose a good world and just guest on another server the rest of the time when you're not doing PvP.

Are you interested in the PvP aspects of GW2 (and probably PvE as well) and thus looking for such a guild to join? Me and some friends, ranging of the 1800 to 2400 RBG rating experience @ WoW and a history of decent raiding throughout the WoW years, of Defias Brotherhood and elsewhere, made a (mainly but not limited to) PvP guild. It'll be located on the Piken Square unofficial RP server.
