Re: Mists of Pandaria
The shadow: on The forsaken side of it atleast, has got some attention during cataclysm, but nothing more then the ocassional mention or insight from quests. I would adore a naga, as mentioned repeatedly, in this thread and Argus would also be very cool. We'll just have to wait and see, whatever it is however, it's got me pretty excited for Blizzcon.

Re: Mists of Pandaria
Seeing MMOCHAMPS article about WoW loosing another 300k subscribers making it 600k since the release of Cataclysm, I doubt they will go ahead with Mists of Pandaria. For one, it is probably a marketing ploy they are using in an attempt to keep players interested in WoW who are clearly not satisfied with Cataclysm. Secondly there is no way a Pandaria expansion could compete with Cataclysm, so why would they do this if they have lost so many subscribers since Cataclysm was released. "Ah the whole world changed and a massive dragon is attacking everything.. yawn. Ooh! PANDAZ!"
I'd go with the void, sounds much for fitting for their current situation and this being a cover up or a way to get people to talk and think about their game as it is clearly falling out of the limelight. A new expansion already!? Pandas!?!?

Either TITAN is WOW2, or they intend to improve the graphics.

Re: Mists of Pandaria
Titan would be a new IP.. Atleast that's what Dru told me.. I don't think they'd use a red herring to keep players interested, because when they find out it's a fake they'll just hate blizzard and the game more, it would make no sense. And Dru, even if it started out as a april fools, they have been featured in games and lore has been made on them now.. They are not longer just a joke methinks (well they -are- a joke, but in a diffrent kind of way)
I am leaning to believing this expansion to be true, and I'm fine with it.. No more high-tech Naaru and Titancrap has my fancy..
Naga would be awesome, but I don't see how they would make it work, they'd have to be renegade, which I don't see happen that fast (although, Blizz..) and it would mean alot of work on the models to make waist down armour do something..
Also, I think the main crowd of WoW players don't give a rat's arse about the lore, so 'funny' Pandaren would suit them and thus blizzard, I guess..
*edit* One thing I forgot: I think it's clear from Golden's book the Old Gods will be Blizzard's focus for a bit.. My guess is we finally put a stop to them in the Panda expansion, we'll find out the Legion has been helping them, and the Legion is planning to do bad stuff to Azeroth after the Old Gods are beaten down.. We kill Kil'jaeden in the next expansion and WoW is over. Perhaps a follow up Warcraft IV in which we kill Sargeras, or perhaps not..

Re: Mists of Pandaria
Lore wise Pandaren is perfectly fine.
In many various ways.
1. They join a faction, either frankly works.
2. They're a neutral race that then pick a faction, it works.
3. They're a faction you're out to save due to the horrors that have happened on Pandaria???
It's really not a lore fuck. And I've seen Pandaren since wc3, so I do believe them to be a race that live on Azeroth but a long time ago decided to live isolated.
It'd be great to see them in WoW. Hoooooooowever I've pretty much lost all interest in WoW. So I probably wouldn't see that day anyway. :p

Re: Mists of Pandaria
The Dreadscale Naga are a former elite gathering of naga from the northern seas, renowned for their questionable loyality to Queen Aszhara and fondess for northern waters, It wasen't completely unexpected for the Dreadscale's to enter neogations with the horde, and although they have a obvious mistrust of other races, they're leader General Askaesl reconises better to be allied with dryskins then a mad queen who intents to envoke the powers of the Old gods.
As a Dreadscale you play through the revelations of your kin removing themselves from the Queen and they're escape from her clutches, citizens of the depths are entrusted into your hands as you flee for the surface, 1-15 involves you both saveing lives of your kin, aswell as discovering what exactly Aszhara is summoning at the heart of the ocean.
Dreadscales start off as neutral with all races, save for Blood elves.
With little to no home, The Dreadscales have offered to lead the Horde offensive on this newly revealed Pandaren island, rich in both resources and land, The Dreadscales hope to demonstrate their loyality to Garrosh aswell as secure a lasting home for their refuge-seeking people.
Although renowned for their dislike of Dryskins a few Dreadscales are begining to reconise the weight of the Hordes decision and how they remain the only faction within Azeroth that has offered them shelter from their vengeful former Queen.

Didn't you see my ones and explenation marks?
Anyway, simply put. Aszhara intends to go up against both The Horde and The Alliance, aswell as the Earthern Ring. I'm sure a section of naga are aware of what happens to people who do that, and I'm sure not every Naga is into tentacles: See Old god. In dire situations, people get drastic. Even fish-people.

Re: Mists of Pandaria
You are forgetting that the Naga come from the Highborne that were totally cool with summoning demons to 'purge' the land of everything non-highborne.. Resulting in the deaths of millions and when Malfy blew up the WoE they were saved from their deaths by the Old Gods.. I don't think any Naga has much concern for the living.
And if they do implement them as playble, they'll do it horribly.
I imagine the Naga will play a big part in the Pandaria plot.. There's probably something on that island they want for their Old God overlords.. I don't see either the alliance or the horde invading Pandaria, they'd probably want our help..

One entire race doesn't share the same opinion, But. I'm sure Blizzard; although I bet you'll disagree, would implant them with -some- decent lore. See Goblin.

Re: Mists of Pandaria
Goblin has been done alright. Just look at Draenei and Worgen though.. I don't think that they were added gracefully. Also, I don't think they'll add any playable race and perhaps for the better because do we really need more ignored races?
I am excited for Blizzcon.. Hopefully we'll get some answers, and perhaps this expansion can tie some loose lore ends together (although, they'll add loads more I think).
Meh, Blizz wins, I am a bit excited now.

Maybe it's alittle short-sighted to wish for extra races, but.
It's naga!

Naga are bad-fucking-ass, but perhaps we'll have to do with Bones of Transformation + Potion of Illusions..

Re: Mists of Pandaria
" Metzen has stated as far back as the Burning Crusade expansion[25] that he would like naga to be playable one day along with ogres and goblins (the latter of which have become playable in Cataclysm, after the interview took place). Due to their general role as villains, it is likely the playable naga would be like the Draenei are to the demonic Eredar. "
Qoute from WOWwiki but I don't know how reliable it is, probably isn't but..

Re: Mists of Pandaria
Personally, I don't see the Naga joining the alliance.. (I'll cry if that happens) and I see Ogres mentioned there.. They would both make sense and would be easier to be implemented me thinks.. (I hope their mage/warlock/shaman specs get two heads ) both Lore and model wise.. With the Stonemaul and all..
Still I don't think we'll see any new races this expansion.

I just meant.. That if they add a new race to the Horde, I just think they'll choose Ogres too, since they want them playable too..

Re: Mists of Pandaria
Best races for inclusion are naga, nerubians, arakkoa, and ogres tbh.
But really, I'd rather see no more new races until we start getting the current neglected ones (Draenei, Worgen, Gnomes) some actual content.

Re: Mists of Pandaria
I just heard Metzen say: "Their experience is more on a cosmic scale, they know more than any other race we've encounterd about the Burning Crusade (, the Naaru, the Legion and the Titans [...]" Do we ever see them say anything about the Titans in game? It's also funny to see him so positive about the Draenei..
I'll agree with Drustai, plix let them stop neglecting the Gnomes, Worgen and Draenei!
Hmm.. but Playable Naga though, I want them now.. Ogres too.. High Elves and gief Taunka noaw.
The read thing you sent. I am still not convinced.. Also they join the Alliance >>

I love my Flitzi D: I still have to finish his doctrines. I am stuck on the Arcane bits of it.
At any rate, let's see what Blizz comes with on Blizzcon..

This would be very easy and IMO much better than making new races.
Give us 'subraces' for the ones we have. For example:
Human -> Half-Elf, Half-Orc
Gnome -> Leper Gnome, Alliance Goblin
Night Elf -> High Elf
Dwarf -> Dark Iron, Wildhammer
Draenei -> Broken, Half-Orc
Worgen -> Gilnean (aka, they already have it)
Orc -> Dragonmaw skin, Mag'har skin, Half-Orc (half-human/half-draenei styles)
Troll -> Berserker troll (the buff ones)
Tauren -> Taunka
Forsaken -> Undead Elf (and perhaps other races)
Blood Elf -> Half-Elf, Horde Human
Goblin -> Giblin, Horde Gnome
Unsure about the Horde ones, I don't really know what you guys want that's similar enough to that race to classify as a subrace.
