Tax collection

Before we post it public, just wanted to bang some ideas about here! feel free to take balls and run!

Maybe to bulk up the event have a ic summons of the groups to the keep to talk about it, introduce the tax collectors, then start getting the gold in.

Maybe a riot about the tax level?

Maybe tax gold getting robbed or attempted to be?

Fake tax collectors?

Corrupt tax collectors?

getting tax gold out of darkshire (should be interesting on its own XD)

Anyway what you all think?

I put up a rumor too from a drunk, funny talking guard so get talking about it ic, get some paranoia spread! XD

The Forlorn Cartel: I'm sure they'd like to take this opportunity to fatten their purses a bit.

House Mistmantle: Baron Braiden is corrupt? (I don't know, no offence meant) Maybe he sees an opportunity to embezzle. Because he deserves it of course.

The Chapter of Holy Anethion: Surely this Holy Order is exempt from tax?

Stormwind Regiment: Their involvement would be obvious.


The Westfall Situation: After doing the quests in Westfall, I think we could have some pretty large scale RP if tax collectors were sent there. The people there are poor, homeless and destitute. Why? Because of the King's taxes during the war with the Lich King. What if the tax collectors show up once more and ask for more? I can only imagine a riot or worse. A revolution. The Defias Brotherhood would get tons of new recruits.

Do we not think this is a good idea or are me and aleric so on the button that we can take this to the forum and make it happen?

Just before you go to the public, a quick suggestion:

May be expand tax-collectors to the fully-fledged 'Civil Service'?

Have bureaucrats harass the guards about protocol, condition of prisons, quality of individual members. (EVERYBODY FEARS THE INSPECTION!)

Have bureaucrats walk around inventorizing something:
"Sir, do you have any property in the kingdom of Stormwind? Nice...Nice...how many square meters?"
"Goodmorning citizen! Do you own a gun?"

....or researching something for the Council
"Hello, what is your opinion on the current level of crime in the city?"

..or recruiting...
"Goodmorning sir, you look like you could use a job! How about we hire you as a towncrier for 1 hour coming tuesday from 20 to 21?"

I once had a bureaucrat alt walk around and do all of the above. Was rather fun. Especially as Falrock made me cry. I know he hates the council, but he was hiding behind the council to avoid me ;D

Sounds like a fun idea with potential to expand as Exaythe says.

As we've been rp-ing paying our taxes for a little while now .

Can anyone else roll a bureaucrat for this? Still need the tax collectors!

I love the idea, but I don't really see a good spot for the Disciples of Light in there. We'd probably pay our taxes, maybe inspect the tax collectors a little and give them a dutiful nod. Unless the tax collectors would try to bully us.

Perhaps we should hold a charity event for those with little income. Provided they work a day for the Orphanage or something, they can get a I.O.U. from DoL that will make the Disciples pay for their taxes instead.

Ir that sounds awfully complicated... perhaps more than it's worth.

Maybe I can encourage DoL to roll some alts for this and we can play the tax officials. I don't know. Such ideas tend to be received with mixed enthusiasm but I can ask. Is there a date on this?

I really like the idea of having some kind of bureaucracy in Stormwind - taxmen, city architects, inspectors, recruiters etc.

No date as yet!

Could the DoL not tend to the disgruntled population? Its gonna be a stiff tax! And there is RP mileage in jp fiddling his cloak when he is audited!

I like the idea too but I'm not sure Braiden would be corrupt since he has gold enough to bathe in either case (and a reputation to keep).

Well... for the super rich it could rp one of two ways, either everyone pays the same percentage! would the baron be leased with losing a quarter of his yearly income!

Or... The super rich pay less than their fair share! In which case the tax rp isnt the problem for the baron, the peasants are!

I love the idea of different organizations scrammbling for exceptions and immunity. I support this heavily!

Would be logical considering what nobles would have to provide to the war effort, would be fun either case

It does seem to be the more likely of the two options does it not! Lord Buckholme will be talking to his advisers as we speak! Maybe we should "assist" each other on lobbying for the Sensible system of the poor pays more!

I approve of this bureaucratic suggestion and wish to donate a few tons of red tape to the cause. I am quite sure alot of fun RP can happen along this suggestion, especially if some shady/corrupt collectors are introduced into the mix as suggested above.

Defo, some bureaucrat, some jobs worths some dodgy buggers! One dodgy bugger needs to be found out and beaten by the justice system XD!
