My account just got hacked...

You are 99% safe with an authenticator and good AV protection. Chances are you're gonna notice if someone still tries to get into your account.

If you haven't done so already I would run several virus scans from different brands on all computers you have played on. And empty your cookie folder.

And don't forget to reguraly change your password.

Being hacked is annoying. Happened to me once. Anyway the gm's will be able to get you most of your stuff back. Just not your gold. Also make sure your pc is clean again before playing. Otherwise you might be hacked again in a month or so. I had two infected files on my pc back then. One in my cookie folder and another in a random folder. I required two different virus scanners to find them both.

I usually change my password using the "new password" function by blizzard to avoid being hacked, as the password is completely random and almost unguessable.

Works for me. - During the "high threat" season I usually do it once a week, being when I know I´m at risk.

Been playing since a few months after launch (About 5 years) and I've yet to be hacked once and changed my password only...what, 2-3 times in 5 years maybe after I clicked on 1-2 keylogger links by accident?

To be honest there is no need for any of this authenticator crap everyone keeps screaming about. It's not full proof at the end of the day and unless you're clicking on every Gold/"lern 2 get 1000000g hera!1!" site and occasionally changing passwords there shouldn't be a problem.

That said, authenticators help a lot and are only like 5€, no shipping fees. Can never be too safe, right?

I have Firefox with noscript, antivirus, anti malware, anti whatever, I never click suspicious links, I never visit .cn or .ru domains or use my battle.net login in public places.

Still, only the stupidity of the hackers kept me from losing my account half a year ago.
No matter how safe you think you are, an autenticator is still a good investment.

Or... You could just change your password regularly using the blizzard function offered.

And how will that stop your computer from getting infected with malware?

It just keeps the password changed so that the hackers aren´t able to hack the account.

For example, when I had some keylogger on my pc back last year, I used a password then requested a new one as I logged in, so that passwords were never used more than once to log in, and once the keylogger had the password, it was already outdated.

It's simple.

Just don't click sexleg links.
