I'd love to start organising a once-monthly large scale RP-WPVP, this would help out alot as
I'm not a forum celebrity or server star and need to get all the resources I can on starting.
Although Brotherhood vs SI7 RP-PvP will be smaller and more often in comparison I personally
would need only a little IC reason why to fight on a large scale.

I'll give you it's written in a style that represents the period however, if you believe it's ass kissing or flattering in the way Machiavelli deals with his 'examples' I sincerely doubt you've understood either the context it was written in or the content.

Don't be so hard on him. Amaryl most likely read the book and you're going at him with something that's probably found in the first four lines of the wikipedia entry on il principe.I sincerely doubt you've understood either the context it was written in or the content.
In other news. I voted yes. Yes because I am still puzzled myself to how I feel about W-PvP these days. Was it really better in the past or is this just nostalgia that's clouding the bad things of it's time? :/

Haha, seeing how you miss-interpret my words it wouldn't be weird that we reached different conclusions. xD.
Don't jump to conclusions about my understanding of either the context or the content, based on assumptions of two words in a complete sentence my dear. I wouldn't mind debating the topic further, but this isn't the thread to do that. xD
Though if you haven't already, I would seriously recommend reading Machiavelli's: Dell'arte della guerra.
that is one horrific piece of work...

Re: World-Pvp and Nurturing Future Warlords!
While not specifically catering to RP-PvP, there used to be very comprehensive W-PvP guide on the old WoW EU PvP forums, maintained by an Undead Mage called Bergstrom or something similar. I've tried searching through the new Battle.net forums for it, but as we can't (afaik) filter searches like we could previously, I haven't had any luck locating it. The thread had a lot of handy general tips as well as specifics on addons, raid/defence group organisation, positioning, useful potions, etc. Speaking of which... RIP Free Action Potion (2004-2010) *shakes fist* Why Blizzard, why!?
As far as the W-PvP encounters are concerned, particularly if there's a strong RP emphasis or motivation to them, I think the tendency to micro-manage them can often be counter-productive as well as continually breaking the flow of battle. Cross-faction communication is now easier than ever (RealID, PvP server restrictions removed i.e. able to roll Horde and Alliance toons on the same server, MSN, etc) but stopping every five minutes to confer, complain or just chat with your opponents can really break any sense of immersion.
If both parties agree to a structured event with rigid guidelines as well as having a hotline between them during the battle then by all means. Personally, I think it's better to set some rough expectations and guidelines beforehand if you want to have a structured event but then let the battle itself be as fluid as possible.
The W-PvP memories that stand out for me are those spontaneous affairs that started off with an completely accidental Mini Death Ray Deluxe Mark IV test firing or wayward glance in the jungle and before long you've got half the Empire in hot pursuit, waving their meat cleavers in manic fashion. Or dodging Orcish raiding parties rampaging through Lakeshire with nothing more than some harsh technobabble and a well-timed blink. Aah, those were the days! *lifts goggles to wipe away a small accumulation of excess precorneal fluid*

Re: World-Pvp and Nurturing Future Warlords!
from what i've gathered thus far by reading your comments is:
A) you do like your events to be heavily plot based.
B) you dont like silly amounts of rules which complicate matters, you like things simple (mainly to avoid drama).
C) people dont like rigid, set battles that follow routes or planned stages and where everything is near pre determined.
D) you dont like drama, and want the causes of drama eliminated
E) people want a return to older styles of battles (that may require defining first).
thankyou all for the input so far! do keep it coming, i am taking note and considering everything said deeply!

Make them simple and not too many. The more rules there are, the bigger the chance someone will accidentally break them, due to not remembering them or not giving a rats ass about reading a three page rule-book written by some guy somewhere, in nothing but his underpants, blue one's infact.
..and thus causing drama.
