Cataclysm - What do you think so far?
Title says it all; what do you think of Cataclysm so far? What is your favourite zone/questline/dungeon/revamp?
Personally, it must be Tirisfal Glades & Silverpine Forest. The forsaken starting questline is truly amazing. I enjoy the new instances, but I think they are a bit too straightforward (only one way to go, nothing to explore). New Stratholme actually required some CC and skill : D

Yeah, in Orgrimmar too. I don't see why people have the urge to idle three feet above the ground instead of just standing still down on the ground. Too much flapping for me

Before cata I was really looking forward to 10 man raiding. Now I wish I did 25 man rather than 10.

Too straight forward sums it up well for me.
I was looking forward to archaology and TB, but eh, yeah
edit: Add to that that it can take up to 10 minutes for me just to get into the game, with either the launcher refusing to launch, the .exe refusing to execute or endless disconnects at the end of the loadingscreens.

Re: Cataclysm - What do you think so far?
I'm enjoying it a fair amount. The questing experience has been made coese so that the plots are a lot more immersive as well as the world. Finally it changes and shifts to your passing. That is amazing for me. And it's been made fast and yet, not too fast, though as some mentioned, pretty straightforward, that is not necessarily a bad thing.
The flying mounts are also a good addition I find, as it makes it easier to enjoy certain parts of the game better as well as permitting a better exploration of the world, finding all manner of cool hidden places. Caves, houses, everywhere! Though sometimes it can be annoying to have them all the time in the major cities and the likes, well, if it weren't the mounts it'd be something else. I personally enjoy seeing people flying around and just all manner of activity bursting within the city. Makes it feel quite more alive, as opposed to TBC and WotlK Orgrimmar, which was just kind of there.
Tol Barad ain't as good, but it's fun still. A wee bit on the clusterfucked side, I'm still yet to fully comprehend how it works, but hey, maybe I would if I'd done it more often. And thus far, it's not all been losses. The Battle for Gilneas and the Twin Peaks battlegrounds are also lovely, even if I've lost a couple they are actually quite fun.
I've not yet tried the PvE content of the game above heroics, but thus far the Heroics seem to be pretty fun too. Raiding, I'm unsure as to whether or not I'll give a shot at it, but things looking as they are, well gentlemen and ladies, I just might. Because it's just that cool an expansion.
As for the Roleplaying opportunities the expansion provides, those too are quite a few in my oppinion. We've got more well developed outposts to play in, better access to a LOT of areas as well as a more Faction vs Faction oriented setting, meaning that many more opportunities arise for WPvP or simply plain old interaction between factions without having to worry "Oh, you know, the Lich King is over there, why are we fighting?" Whereas now it's more along the lines of "ALLIANCE?! KILL THE MOTHERFUCKERS!" "Sir, that is not wis--""KILL THIS SODDING CUNT TOO!"
Which makes it all the better in my oppinion. It's about time we focused on the conflict and well, I'm just descending into a ramble now. Overall, Cataclysm is pretty good. I'm certain there'll be people who disagree as well as aspects of the game which'll become tiring and repetitive after a while, but heeey, that happens with everything!
Overall, I enjoyed it! Well done Blizz

Re: Cataclysm - What do you think so far?
Generealy so far I think it's alright but i'll admit i'm still in the stage of getting settled into it if that makes sense. Loved the new story orientated questing mechanics and had a little dabble in PvP and PvE Dungeons and some RP while i've been about. (Christmas took alot of my time).
I think I just need a bit more time to get re-settled back in and used to everything once again.

Well... So far I adore the changes to elemental shamans. Haven't started leveling properly though so I haven't seen how they work in PvE. Might even get back to raiding with this expansion as I heard from my old raid leader that it's getting back to TBC-likeness as in being HARD! And I like it hard.

I like it but it's missing something new.
Yes things have been changed and systems revamped... but there's nothing NEW. Nothing we havn't seen before. It seems rather stale...

Re: Cataclysm - What do you think so far?
Revamped world and quests, besides that, same shit in a new package. Nothing new has been introduced besides some crappy and flawed outdoor pvp zone and more PvE content. Everything else, we have already seen.

Re: Cataclysm - What do you think so far?
Best quest experience ever. It's the first time I actually manage to hang in there and go through all the quests of all the new zones. Still it's more of the same thing, as Geldar said. The humor and entertainment was raised up a notch though.
I enjoy the storylines they built with the phasing but it's also proven a pain. You can't help out a buddy anymore when they have one of those annoying, and still mechanically flawed, quests. It made the Twillight herbs crap to farm in some regions as well.
However, leveling a new character has been fun. The story is more engaging and I like how the character (talent+abilities) builds up more steadily now. More than ever before, I find myself enjoying doing naught more than RP and questing with a character.
The flying mounts may be a pain with flapping wings and all, but I didn't think much better of the running zoo we had before. God knows how many grannies and pregnant ladies have been trampled under overexcited, hopping mammots and Kodo's.
About Stormwind: I really don't like how some RP spots have turned into OOC spots now, but we have been granted others and there's still room for roleplay throughout the city.

This, pretty much. Kalimdor levelling was a major let down as Alliance, since 99% of quests still amounted to; "Go and kill XXX of XXX" only now with "Oh the Horde slaughtered us, see if the next town is any better". I haven't touched the Eastern Kingdoms yet, but I'll prolly do that as a loremaster run.. provided I have the tenacity to through bleedin' Outland.

And a little more which Gunnel just reminded me of, god bless retards like Chris Metzen and his lore writing crew. I must say that the levelling experience as Alliance was a let down compared to the Horde where Alliance quests sum up with "Go gather 10 kobolt candles" in various different flavors while Horde quests are more like "Go slaughter 10 Alliance soldiers" and etc.

All I've really liked and thought much of was Uldum, to be honest. I'm a big fan of that zone.

Re: Cataclysm - What do you think so far?
This expansion has seemed to me that it was rushed just to be released on time. Mostly because of the hundreds of annoying phasing problems I've seen, which although nice for questing it makes it a bitch for the gathering professions - with some nodes floating in midair and the ones that taunt you from afar only for you to realise they're in a different phase and disappear when you get close.
As for new content... I've enjoyed the 80-85 zones very much so, whilst I still have not managed to complete a single heroic or win TB since the win trading stopped.

Ugh yeah, the phasing. It's overused so much now that it's often more of a hassle
You almost sound like you think that WoW has more writers attached than just Metzen and his half-empty bottle of Southern Comfort

Re: Cataclysm - What do you think so far?
The phasing is a big pain in the ass for professions, but there's also the RP aspect when it decides to climb out of it's grave again, anyway. Since obviously people in different phase zones will be entirely invisible to one another >>

I imagine that its not just him writing the entire lore, if it is, God be with us.

Why weren't the Rahmkahen voiced? o.o The Broken had voices. The Tuskarr had voices.
