Event Suggestion - Rise of a False King

If only entire community aknowledged he was dead. Half was RPing as if he wasn't though

Well then that half were very silly people...

I don't see how it can't work while there are other enemies on the horizon. Wouldn't that work in the villains advantage? While the real King and his men has their eyes focused on whatever threat they have, the fake king could simply take the opportunity at hand really. Least that's how I see it I guess.

The plot does sound interesting, though it would fit more to the time when Wrynn was absent. I find it rather hard to impersonate a king while the actual king is there and visible by everyone. I'm curious to see how it will turn out anyways

But yes, Gabriel has the point though. If a False King starts a rebellion at such a trying time, he is no better than a villain, no matter his promises and noble agenda.

I personally will stay out of such an event, seems like another drama-event for me. And I... dislike... drama.

Then again, trying to usurp a kingdom when it is strong and has no external enemies is a effective way to commit suicide unless there's nationwide unrest and the army is not fully behind the king.
Usurpers of all ages have used fights with external enemies to start their attempts on the power, seize it and then point at the threat itself to prevent people from moving on them.
Pretenders and usurpers are always at an disadvantage, even with noble goals they tend be be forced to use underhanded tactics just to stand a chance at all.

Again, depends on the rhetoric employed and the intentions of the usurper. The usurper could be a Von Stauffenberg if memory serves me correctly in that the Alliance fired the opening salvo of war in Cata. Dissent during wars does not have to be lead by villains, these men can be ideologically opposed to war, these man can be pure idealists who believe it not to be in the best interest of Stormwind, these men can be good men seeking to bring an end to these trying times.

And if they're not? I think a politician in Rome (Cicero, if I'm not mistaken) once said something that amounted to: There is not a thing so evil in this world, that a rhetorician cannot make it seem good and noble.

The king is stuck with his hate of the horde, and only during the ICC encounter of Surfang I find him to have a normal behaviour. But all video you see him appears, for example the Ulduar intro or, the siege of Undercity, Wyrm was really really stupid. He is lead by anger, bad feelings and hate.

You think you'd be able to be all cheery and friendly with the horde, after capturing you and forcing you fight in the arena for years for their own amusement, among many other atrocities committed towards you and your kind?

It's the World of WARcraft, not Peacecraft.

There's alot more to the current leaders then what you first see, alot of Cataclysm quests expand on this. But this is off-topic xD

I'm pretty aware that there is WAR...I simply prefer to RP peacefull character. It fit better my personality and the way I enjoy role playing. When there is war there is always people to work for peace. It's not unlogical or against the Lore to be peacefull, and even less when you are a Draenei.

I'm not accusing anyone here to be "stupid" to like Wrynn. I ask a question : why everyone like him. So there is no offence.. really.;Didn't intended to offend anyone.


Now, concerning Wrynn (and sorry for the typo, i didn't toke the time to check his name as it's only a discussion post anyway)..i've not said his character was not well made, or illogical. It's indeed logical to be filled by hate and anger. That still doesn't made him sympatic in my eyes. This is just ..a personal opinion. Wrynn seem to me unwise.

Now I dared to bought the game, because it's a fun game. And I role play peaceful character, because it's also fun.

Do read what I linked and then your questions about people sympathizing with their King will most probably be answered. It's easy to hate what you don't fully understand and draw conclusions merely from impressions. Also, the Draenei do have a rather good reason to hate orcs very much as well, considering the events of the past. So no, being a Draenei might grand you a larger knowledge and wisdom but doesn't necessarily make you a fanatical peace keeper.

I love Wrynn because he's the only one that is truly fighting the horde. That's why I love him. To me it makes more sense. I mean, if we suddenly got zombies attacking us RL, surely we wouldn't go up to them and ask for peace? Wrynn is just simply badass, and hawt! And a proper King protecting his people and country, being like a barking, furious dog to anything that'd threaten his territory. That's why I like him so much.

But bluh, this is much off topic. Lets try to get it back to the original one. <.<

Anyway yeah...

Only thing I dislike about Varian is that he is a super-warrior of sorts If he was but a 'mortal man without super-powers' he would be tons better!

Anyway, looks like some people thing the idea is good, while others are more reluctant for various reasons. Guess talking to various guild-leaders is the only way now to get a more accurate picture.

Sounds like a reasonable plan. If it does take place in Cataclysm, I'd be happy to include KoA (KoS, or whatever name it'll have) somehow then, in whatever form it will be <.< Kingdom or not.

Also..

The mercenaries of Moonshade will side with whichever side offers them the best deal. Land, titles, gold or whatever there is you can offer. Wrynn or false King matters not.
