Lag problems with the patch.
I experience very annoying lag with the new patch. I have turned all video options down to minimum, except for the scroll-out function which I can't live without being on high.
Turning all addons off did not change anything.
My internet is 100MB fiber.
Still I get
Latency 123ms
7fps
So my only conclusion is that my PC is too old to handle this and that it is time to update. I know very, very little about hardware and what's what, but this is what I seem to have:
AMD Athlon(tm) 64 Processor
3700+
2,22 GHz, 2,00 GB RAM
Proactive ASUS A8N-E Motherboard
GeForce 7800-GT Graphics
And now to my main questions.
Do I need to upgrade to make WoW run smoothly? WHAT do I, in that case, need to upgrade? I can only afford upgrading one thing as it is now (actually the only thing I can afford upgrading atm is my mousemat and I doubt that will make a big difference. ) so please don't give me a list of all the stuff I need to completely re-build my PC.
Where can I find that part to an affordable cost?
What other things can I fiddle with without having to upgrade my PC?
Loads of thanks, hugs and kisses to those who help me out! <3

It's because you are still downloading content I am confident of this. It'll take us all a few days to get 100% of all the data.

More then likley that is the problem yes. I'm fully installed/downloaded now and have no issues. It turns out the water issue was due top my gfx card. Gave that a good dusting out and hey presto! Ship shape and bristol fashion!

Nono, it says I am fully downloaded and installed. The download took me about 7 minutes so if it would have anything else to download it would be more than done with that now.

Best way to fully check is to open your launcher and see what it says. If it is indeed saying your fully downloaded then we can rule that out.

more normal 22ms now, fps down to 5. -.-
Bandwidth says 0 Mbps which sounds like a lie to me.

Okay, this is just insanely weird. When i turned my graphics options up my fps increased. I still can not turn it up to full as my hardware prevents that but wtf? Shouldn't the fps decrease the higher settings I have? o.0

Re: Lag problems with the patch.
My FPS went down quite badly aswell after the patch. I usually have 60 fps and it went down to 20. My computer is fairly new, so I'm rather nervous with this happening. D:
My downloading isn't finished yet though, says that it is still applying non-critical changes, so I'm trusting it will be fixed after it's done.

Re: Lag problems with the patch.
I had strange FPS problems for a while on the first night, and it turned out to be because I had out of date addons turned on.
Turned 'em off, boom. Fine n' dandy.

indeed My pc is almost identical to yours with exeption of the prosessor,.. got 7fps for a bit too ,... I turned off all addeons it worked back to my usual framerate,.. It should come back to normal at some point,.. if not try general maintanance on your pc, defrag and disc cleanup, it may help

Indeed, i had extreme lag, as in fps was something like 2-10 when in an instance, but after i turned off all addons, it worked perfectly.

Re: Lag problems with the patch.
Which addons you using Billiam?
Known bugger ups for FPS issues in this patch are (but not limited to):
Altoholic (no fix yet)
Autobar (not likely to get fixed)
Baggins (not for everyone)
Grid (get the version on WoW Interface, but delete EVERYTHING pertaining to the current version, and do not update past the "beta" version currently)
Pawn
Ratings Buster
The last two in particular are problems because they are trying to check information on everything. But everything has changed. So they bugger up. A lot.
There may be more, these ones are known as problems for fps.

Re: Lag problems with the patch.
Thanks for the replies! I'll take them in order:
Ledgic and Rax: I saw no difference when I turned addons off.
Praxan: Uhh.... no, I don't know what those things are. xD
Shentin: CCleaner I run a couple of times per week, you are correct that it's time for a defrag though, I shall start one right away!
Grufftoff: (OMG - it's the guy with the super-sexy eyes! Hii!! *waves*) The addons I use and have activated are:
DeadlyBossMods*
Dominos*
FlagRSP(wotlk)
ReCount*
GryphonHeart Items
Chatbar
Gatherer*
AtlasLoot*
Outfitter*
Omen*
Titan Panel
Vuhdo*
WIM (WoW Instant Messenger)*
*updated post patch
Someone said that turning the graphics down limits the graphic card and prevents it from working as well as it should. It makes some sense.
I will try turning my addons off again, run some tests with graphic settings and all that. Do addons work as programs? I mean, slowing the computer down? The only thing I have noticed with addons was earlier, when I had a shitty internet and they took too much bandwidth. But now on my smexy 100MB line they shouldn't matter at all, unless they affect the computer itself.
Thank you everyone for your advice (except for Praxan's that I didn't understand, please elaborate! xD) and thanks also for not telling me that I must upgrade my PC. Yet. <3

Re: Lag problems with the patch.
Erm, Thanks!
But, anyway, sexy eyes aside... (I know, I know, they are amazing).
GHI might be a bit weird, I think with the way it works.
Is the fps drop linked to anything? Like opening a bag menu or inspecting or visiting the AH?
That would then suggest it's a mod, or mods.
The graphics are much improved, the way they run. My laptop can run on higher settings now than before, with much better fps. So may be try putting up the settings (but turn water and shadows to low, they're a bit pointless really, and the water/jelly looks ... wrong) like you say.
I really don't think your PC should be the issue. Not with those specs, I've used considerably worse for WoW before.
As for Praxan's advice. Go to the video settings. Vsync (or Vertical Sync) is in there. It forces WoW to refresh at a rate linked to your standard monitor settings, it can be helpful and can stop the massive spikes and drops. Anistropic/Multisampling etc can be found under the tab in Video settings, you might set that x1 or maybe trilinear.

Updated GHI, DBM, exchanged MRP for FlagRSP2, updated BadBoy. Works like a charm now.

Re: Lag problems with the patch.
Hi again!
The FPS is low all the time, it pends between 5-11 fps and I can not see that the drops or tops are linked to any special activity.
I will try the things suggested once I get playing later this evening, thank you so much for the advice. <3
Cid: I haven't been able to find an upgrader for GHI, is it fixed now so it actually works in-game? because my GHI bag is stuck in the middle of the screen and can't be moved or opened as it is now.

Unable to login at all. It finishes loading, then just either 'Freezes' for about 10 seconds on the loading screen, or I get a brief, one second, flicker of Dalaran and then just freezes completely. No, I never had any issues with lag in Dalaran before the patch.

Re: Lag problems with the patch.
There are reports that the launcher is buggered. The background "Play and download" thing is chuffed and it's causing massive problems.
I think we can safely say, we're still in beta.
