I always thought Tanaris would be a rather recently-settled area as far as humans go, and that they and the Goblins pretty much followed the same route of landing from sea (Steamwheedle Port) and establishing a trade route and trading post at the entrance to the Thousand Needles (Gadgetzan). You will find that even the human mobs present are located between these two points, hinting at renegades hunting the trade lane, with the only exception being a pirate hideout further down south, but also right at the shore.

Lore states that Wastewanderers are nomadic bandits who came to pillage the waterfields. That means they came from elsewhere. And I doubt humans who were not already settled in tanaris would say "Hell yea, its a good idea, lets wander the empty desert just for fun!"

Re: Tanarisi Immigrant Foundation
I have to admit I was very sceptic toward your idea, thinking about people who RP talibans in WoW.
But then I've noticed how poor Wastewanderer lore actually is, oriental looking humans in Tanaris, no one knows where they came from or what their background really is, they are just standard quest mobs.
So I have to approve your idea, you used your great imagination to totally expand Wastewanderers background, creating their culture and language.
While lore created by you is entirely "Fan fiction", Blizzard never cared to explain many plotholes in Warcraft universe either, and seeing how they mutilated their own lore so many times, I stopped really caring.
I wish you good luck with your guild, and once again, awesome idea to add some "Prince of Persia" themes into RP

*throws a thin embroidered cloth over the Sands of Time* ...Prince of Persia? Where....its...oh..-that-, there is a vase with dates there! They need to be under the cloth or they dry out! Uhu!
And as said, this is not me claiming "This is how things are" , but rather a plausibility.

Bumping this right up, since Cata is arriving and with all those new human hunters and other such, perhaps a few folk will opt for Tanarisi characters, eh eh?

Way ahead of them. And I'm taking a second or third read of this to help with a background.

Thanks! I will try to translate the Lore-file to be usable by tongue-users as well. Since Lore-addon is slowly dying while Tongues is on the rise.

Hooray! Dom will definitely do this
Hooray for Tanarisian men! (and Women)
EDIT:
on a slight side note, i HAD already created my version of Tanarisian in Tongues, but never thought of sharing it before... if anyone could tell me how to upload it, i'll add it to this, if you wish to use. The downloadable file you have got, I have already converted it to work with Tongues.

Sort of depends on whether he prefers the version he already has, really :p And if we have conflicting languages it'll get a bit iffy.

I've been pondering the idea of a Fremen-kind of society for a while now. Thought of having them as a nomadic people in Tanaris, so your project went straight to my heart.
The Fremen are a desert-people from Frank Herbert's bookseries "Dune". I think a lot of inspiration ca ncome from a quick read through the wiki-page about them. I'll write down a few ideas I have, when I'm not so insanely tired.
Best of luck on the project! This could definitely make me roll a human for RP. ^^

Re: Tanarisi Immigrant Foundation
Anyone using the very nice file set up from Exaythe in tongues and actually getting it to work? o_o
And if everything else fails, does Lore work with the current patch?

This is hardly exhaustive, but I've just been questing in Uldum and thought a list like this could be useful. Please feel free to add to it!
Quests referring to the Wastewander bandits / potential Tanarisi culture:
Uldum
Relics of the Sun King
Quest text:
Venomblood Antidote
The Bandit Warlord
Make Yourself Useful
--The Schnottz Landing Labourers are presumably all Wastewander bandits who've signed up or been coerced to work for Schnottz in his investigations. Some of the things they say are:

- The Seal of the Sun King serves as a defense mechanism for Ramkahen.
When the barrier around Uldum fell, we began to see Wastewander outriders from Tanaris filter into our borders.
They attacked this holy site on their way west and robbed it of the relics which once provided its power.
Recover the relics for us. Without them we are powerless to defend against attacks from the desert.

'I didn't sign up for this.'
'I should never have left Tanaris.'

'I was happier as a Wastewander.'
'I can't believe I fell for Schnottz' lies! I'm out of here.'

Re: Tanarisi Immigrant Foundation
I met a traveller from an antique land Who said: Two vast and trunkless legs of stone Stand in the desert. Near them, on the sand, Half sunk, a shattered visage lies, whose frown And wrinkled lip, and sneer of cold command Tell that its sculptor well those passions read Which yet survive, stamped on these lifeless things, The hand that mocked them and the heart that fed. And on the pedestal these words appear: "My name is ozymandias, king of kings: Look on my works, ye Mighty, and despair!" Nothing beside remains. Round the decay Of that colossal wreck, boundless and bare The lone and level sands stretch far away.
