What stops you from organizing open events? (multiple allowed)
Re: What stops you from organizing and holding open events?
I know Im no event organiser extrodanaire or whatever :p, the only public, regular event Ive been hosting is the sunday night prayer and I always always dreaded Sunday evenings because of it!
I stress so much over it, I have to prepare everything and everything has to be perfect to every last detail. I used to tear out my hair trying to get the hymns right (and half the time they still turn it yucky) but when I get there and the event begins, I love it so much and I have fun so much. My biggest fear still is that Im boring everyone with blahblahblah elunethis and blahblahblah elunethat but oh well :p, that's what feedback is for.
I think thats what maybe most people wish for the most when making an event. Me, Id love for looadds of feedback, especially negative feedback because then thats mean theres something to work on and make better.

Well i'm kind of wanted so i wouldnt organize something big and public IC.
And besides, too much organizing and expectations leads to meta game and disappointment on some sides so besides from the generic idea, RP events shouldn't be pre-organized to the smallest detail as they usually like to do, and then they rage because something went wrong.

Nothing. ^^
That's why you should put in a "Nothing, I do organize an event now and then." option for those that do! That way we can make a vote too! >: ( I love voting and giving my opinion, now that I've not voted I'm inclined to push "other".

1 and 2 for me at the moment. Usually with Vect i do open plays either alone, or if i'm lucky, find people to participate in the play aswell. Due to it being summer technically still, it's hard to organize it, account on one or two or myself not being present. And i prefer having it all nice and TIDY! ...perfect. Then there are those who after the event whisper that it was crap and pointless, but i try and ask them what could i do to improve then, trying to smile. If the request ain't too insane or profane, i take it to consideration. Altho you just can't feel good about it when people whisper and say it was awsome / great

Don't worry, Ath, soon you will get to vote for a new Tweede Kamer anyway.

This server has alot of reputations, and thought I don't disagree with those. I do feel alittle out of the circle.

Too many events are already taking place, there is no room for more.
Simply because (given we're talking about a "normal" week) I already plan enough of them, and I don't want to fill up every single night. There should be room for normal, random RP as well.

I personally disagree w/ the famous-thing. I don't believe you need to have "internet-reputation" or "fame" or anything like that to host events. Just good ideas, initiative and time. Personally I would never not-attend an event I'd find interesting because a person doesn't have internet-fame.
My advice is that if you think you're not "famous" or in the "circles" that's just your excuse for being internet-shy, wich is of course unneeded and ridiculous ^^ we're all on here and no-one can harm you!
My advice to those people is; Try it! Try hosting/organizing your own brief event and have some fun, I'm sure it will work out! I'm willing to help too.

I think it's not so much fame, but influence. It's about getting the word out about an event, knowing the right people.

That is why I love those forums. One post, and a good share of RPers are informed about an event! \o/

It may also be a belief that unless they have a reputation to back it up, other people won't have enough faith in the event to show up.

Fame is a factor that shouldn't be put aside. It's easier to go to an event where you know the organizer/people involved OOCly and know/accept their kind of roleplay.
Also how the RP community sees you is a factor that plays a roll. If everyone believes you're awesome and fantastic your events will immediatly draw a big crowd. When you are perceived as a pain in the butt however, you'll see less people turn up. T'is how it works IRL, t'is how it works here.

Hm, yes, I stand corrected ^^
I think there is a stickied thread on these forums dictating all guild leaders and their officers that could help ,though.

Re: What stops you from organizing and holding open events?
People don't turn up, leave mid-event for whatever reason (don't actually set aside the time they would for, say, a raid) and actively work against whatever plotline you're trying to provide them.
Those would be my three reasons anyway, no angry replies please - I'm not referring to any guild or characters in particular.

Don't like organized RP, spontaneous RP is better.

I'm more into spontaneous, everyday criminal RP, but I'm always up for any kind of event.

Re: What stops you from organizing and holding open events?
I want cama sutra in libraries... but though, who said that people whisper there. Only one I was in the library, I was there with two of my friends and beer. It was quite tricky how we managed to get drunk there... but it was when I was younger, heh. No matter.
I went for "not famous enough" thingy, cus people barely know me and I have doubts that anybody likes my arsed character. That's it, but I do like spontaneous roleplay, as well as RP in a tight circle of friends. Perhaps that's why playing Age of Conan I don't miss WoW much anymore. There are less players than in WoW, but I'm happy with those I have.
Oh and one thing... I've read Cama Sutra just once, it was a pain to watch those poses. Bones of my girl and my own would crack in them, I bet. =(
